Beyonce Named Woman of The Year

Beyonce Knowles has had quite a ride with her latest album, 'I Am...Sasha Fierce,' and Billboard has named her Woman Of The Year. "Beyonce is a multi-platinum artist and a multi-talented woman who clearly embodies the qualities of excellence and achievement that the Billboard Woman Of The Year Award was created to honor," said Bill Werde, Billboard's Editorial Director.

She will accept the award at the 2009 Billboard Women In Music Event on Oct. 2 in New York City.

The honor, given to a female recording artist that has inspired the music business with her success, leadership and new ideas, will be awarded to the singer for her accomplishments over the past 12 months.

In the last year, Beyonce kicked off her world tour in support of her third solo album "I Am...Sasha Fierce." The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart in November and features the hit singles 'Single Ladies, 'Halo,' and 'If I Were A Boy.'

Past "Woman of the Year" honorees were Ciara and Reba McEntire.

How could anybody demean Beyonce Knowles and even think for a second that she isn't one of the greatest icons ever. I think she deserved the award sooner in my opinion. Beyonce is a innovator of music. Her music is legendary already and contains plenty of substance. She empowers women, she's THE greatest living icon today, and she is a class act. Beyonce, you are a pioneer of music even at your young age. Please continue to insipre young women to be professionals and stay true to what you have been called to do. Not only a great performer, singer, and dancer, you are an example. Congratulations on your award, it was long overdue.

For those of you defending this woman, in case you have not heard. She defended Kayne West today and said she did deserve the award. She said that she did not have to make a speech downgrading anything to do with Taylor Swift. This woman has lowered ehrself right there with Whoopie Goldberg and Kayne West. Woman of the year. For being a undercver racist or a spoiled brat, pick your evil.

Inspire young woman to what? Throw a fit when you don't win an award against a white woman. People like Kayne West and Whoppie Goldberg are the new David Dukes and anyone defending them might as well kiss any clout they have goodbye. Young Black people should not model themselves after theses undercover racists. Beyonce has justified Kayne racists actions, therefore I must say if it walks like a duck and talks like a duck........well
