In his first communication with the public about the attack this summer, Brown told his fans how sorry he is about the beating incident. "I am very sad and very ashamed of what I have done... I've told Rihanna countless times and I am telling you all today that I am truly, truly sorry that I wasn't able to handle the situation both differently and better. " he said.

Back in April, Brown pleaded not guilty to both assault and criminal threat charges in court.

Brown's manager, Tina Davis, was named by TMZ as the woman behind the text message that sparked his alleged beating of Rihanna. She has since denied the claims, saying: "The rumors in circulation are false. There are no emails between Ms. Davis and Mr. Brown of the type which have been described in media reports."

Court documents revealed that the police report claims Brown allegedly assaulted Rihanna in his car after she discovered a text message on his phone. According to the report, Brown smashed her head against the window, and then punched and bit her.

TMZ obtained a photo that appears to be singer Rihanna, taken shortly after Brown allegedly beat her following a pre-Grammy party. Police have said the woman had visible injuries, and that Brown was gone from the scene when they arrived.

Brown can be seen leaving the police station after being booked. According to police reports, he assaulted Rihanna in the car, and told her "I'm going to beat the s--- out of you when we get home." He also allegedly threatened to kill her after she told her assistant to call the police.

In their cover story, PEOPLE spoke with the father of Rihanna, who says he hopes his daughter is done with boyfriend Brown after his alleged assault. Shortly after, reports that Rihanna and Brown were back together in Miami emerged.
PEOPLE
Brown, seen a day before the alleged attack, released a statement on Feb. 15, which read in part, "Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired."

But she slapped him also it seems like
She slapped him because he pushed her into a wall! A person has a right to defend themselves, especially when they are being phisically harmed by someone else.
Well if she didn't want to get hit she shouldn't have threw the first punch. That is what wrong with some of these women today. They think they can go around and hit on men becuz they were raise that boys are not supposed to hit girls. Which it should be nobody should be hitting on anybody. So I think that what happen was a lesson learned for her. I also think that she should have gotten in trouble too. It wasn't just him.
And she has NO excuse for hitting HIM. Let's not make double standards. The article clearly states that she slapped him THEN he responded. She initiated the violence. Neither party should be initiating violence. PERIOD.
Who cares that he hit a woman???? You don't hit another human!!! However, if you are barbaric enough to hit someone, even if you are a girl, be prepaid to get hit back.
Women want equal rights around the board and I agree. But just because you are a woman does not give one the right to hit a man and not expect to get hit back.
Im am sick and tired of people thinking its ok for a woman to abuse a man and theres nothing wrong with it, but as soon as he's had enough and knocks her once to get his point across, forget it everybody and their mother freaks out, I say she got what she deserved and she will never hit a man again without thinking about it twice.
@ KIKI read before you comment....The first occurred three months before in Europe, when the singer slapped her boyfriend and he "responded by shoving her into a wall." she hit him first...no excuse for him to lay his hands on him but to all woman if you wanna fight like a man then you should get hit like man....
It's so unfortunate that everyone is on Chris Brown but no one has said anything about her slapping him. I mean how many times did she think she could slap him before he flips. There is a such thing as abuse from the women's standpoint as well. Lets not lose track of that. Indeed he should not have put his hands on her but she shouldn't have the right to do that either! And, she gets to play the innocent victim...pls c'mon
I don't think it's fare that he got charged and she didn't. If Riahanna think she is man enough to hit a man, then she should have been boob'n and weev'n. I don't care what relationship people are in. Nobody should put their hands on nobody.
I teach my son that he better not put his hands on no one and at the same time, he don't allow any one to hit on him either.
Rihanna need community service as will, she ain't special....somebody hand her as a rake and trash bag!!!!
she had no right to put her hands on him. she needed to be taught a lesson if your man enough to put your hands on a man then your man enough to take the ass whooping that serves as a consequence. simple as that
there is probaly alot more that we aren't even hearing about most woman hide abuse that they recieve forever. A man is alot stronger than most woman and her hit was probaly nothing compared to his.
Mandy - If you are claiming that "A man is alot stronger than most woman...", then I guess that means that women are not equal to men. You can't have it both ways.
She got her ass beat for a reason! She aggravated him and thats why she got hit. She put her hands on him first and that was said on many occasion. if a women is man enough to put his hands on a man like she is one than she is man enough to get hit back. It doesn't matter how many time she hit him because of her actions he was turned to use force. Maybe things got a little out of hand on February 8 but things have been at out hand since there relationship started maybe next time she will no not to do what she thinks she will get away with. Women can hurt men just like men can hurt women she may not have thought she hurt him but she did. She should have some kind of consequences too.
I suppose its ok for Rihanna to hit Chris, and he should jus take it like a man! its unfair that he got all the punishment, and she's got away scotch free!! Violence is wrong on both sides! However, if you hit someone be prepared that the other person might just retaliate. Rihanne fih go a jail 2!
lmao u guys takin shyt seriously.
who really knows who hit who 1st.
no one should b hitting any1 but chris brown is a man who is stronger so even if dat chick did slap him he shouldve ate that shyt an called the cops
Chris Brown and Rihanna obviously have issues. I don't care what anybody says though. She deserved to get a beating. Women always wanna compete with men, but they tend to carry the notion that they can't get taught a lesson when they want to act tough. I know Rihanna egged Chris on. But for any MATURE WOMEN on here. Be careful when you wanna act tough. There could be some serious repercussions. You could never say what you would do in this kind of situation because at the heat of the moment, consequences don't run through your head, but I'm glad to see Chris Brown evade prison.
first of all rihanna shouldnt have been look through chris's text message because its none of her business even though a man shuldnt hit a woman. and so wat if sum girl text him he's with you anyway has he cheated on you no so be easy. i dnt think shuld have been punished wit the 5 years of labor he shuld have gotten like a year.
She got what she deserved, she should not have hitm him-did she think she could win?
You need to cut it out stop talking sh.... u probably got ur as..... kicked a time or two, so let the man get back to his life and pay for his mistake. Everybody deserves a second chance, u cant judge ur not god. only he can judge and i'm pretty sure god delt with chris brown.
