Just days after Chris Brown was formally sentenced for beating Rihanna, his mother finally addressed fans about the ordeal. "I just want to say from the bottom of my heart thank you for your continued support. I'm sorry I wasn't allowed to speak to anyone as this case was ongoing," Joyce Hawkins wrote on TheChrisBrownFanClub.com.
"I can now say this has been the most painful moment in my entire life, but knowing that you were still standing by Chris' side in his time of need made this a little easier for us," she added.
"Because of all your prayers, God brought him through," Hawkins continued. "I just want to say God has never failed me and never will. All moms and dads please stand by your children and pray for their goodness each and every day," she said.
Her statement continued, "I made a promise. I would never be ashamed of him no matter where I am or who I talk to. You see this whole thing isn't about Chris, it's about God. He wants to show all of you the goodness of him through Chris. Chris will be addressing all of his fans very soon. We love you so much and so does God."
Earlier this week, a judge ordered Brown to serve five years probation and perform six months of community service for his role in the February attack. Brown was also ordered to stay 100 yards away from Rihanna during the period of his probation.
Brown assaulted Rihanna during Grammy weekend in February, reportedly punching and beating her inside of his car after an argument. He was arrested hours after the incident, and plead guilty to a felony assault charge in June.
This summer, Brown apologized to fans, saying what he did "was inexcusable," but promised to learn from his mistakes.

In his first communication with the public about the attack this summer, Brown told his fans how sorry he is about the beating incident. "I am very sad and very ashamed of what I have done... I've told Rihanna countless times and I am telling you all today that I am truly, truly sorry that I wasn't able to handle the situation both differently and better. " he said.

Back in April, Brown pleaded not guilty to both assault and criminal threat charges in court.

Brown's manager, Tina Davis, was named by TMZ as the woman behind the text message that sparked his alleged beating of Rihanna. She has since denied the claims, saying: "The rumors in circulation are false. There are no emails between Ms. Davis and Mr. Brown of the type which have been described in media reports."

Court documents revealed that the police report claims Brown allegedly assaulted Rihanna in his car after she discovered a text message on his phone. According to the report, Brown smashed her head against the window, and then punched and bit her.

TMZ obtained a photo that appears to be singer Rihanna, taken shortly after Brown allegedly beat her following a pre-Grammy party. Police have said the woman had visible injuries, and that Brown was gone from the scene when they arrived.

Brown can be seen leaving the police station after being booked. According to police reports, he assaulted Rihanna in the car, and told her "I'm going to beat the s--- out of you when we get home." He also allegedly threatened to kill her after she told her assistant to call the police.

In their cover story, PEOPLE spoke with the father of Rihanna, who says he hopes his daughter is done with boyfriend Brown after his alleged assault. Shortly after, reports that Rihanna and Brown were back together in Miami emerged.

Brown, seen a day before the alleged attack, released a statement on Feb. 15, which read in part, "Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired."
I'm with this lady. Why should she be ashamed of anything. It takes honor to feel shame. A deviate that beats up women lacks any honor. So why feel any shame.
What on earth are you talking about??!!What an idiotic stupid post to say that!!! She has no business putting her hands on him. BUT .... He beat her!!!Beat her like she was a man!!! Either 1.you are a thug psycopath 2.you have no sense 3.you are fooling around ... but its no joke.
This is why this group of young men continue to do the things they do. If their parents are not even shamed by their kid's actions, they surely will not be. What will it take for this brain dead woman to be ashamed of, when he beats a girl to death? It seems like either this "mother" wants to keep the money coming in for her fake hair, is interested in being a friend instead of a parent, or has no morals and thinks beating someone up is no big deal.
I'm sorry, but I have a son and a daughter, and I feel exactly the same. I am not ashamed of either of them. My daughter hits her brother constantly and we tell him not to hit her back and it escalated until she attacked him in the family pool and it had to literally toss her off of him to get her away. Girls can be pretty vicious knowing guys can't hit them.
You can still love and support someone yet be ashamed of them. "He (God) wants to show all of you the goodness of him through Chris." What does that mean?
How many of you have young sons? Because it astonishes me how quick you are to say this mother should be ashamed of her son. Maybe disappointed in his actions and what he did, but never, NEVER should she be ashamed at him. He made a mistake, and I ask all of you to think about how many mistakes you may have made, perhaps even worse mistakes. I do not in ANY way agree with what he did, but he seems to be remorseful and he has accomplished so much in his young lifetime that for his mother to be ashamed when he needs her to most would be preposterous. She should hold her head high because this young man may have made a mistake at the cost of another, but he is far from a monster, and he has been seeking help for his problems, unlike these other animals out here that beat on woman and children and continue as if it is their right. DO NOT JUDGE, LEST YOU BE JUDGED!! And Kudos to Rihanna for keeping her dignity and respect throughout the whole ordeal.
I don't know if I agree with you because of your logic, or because your response is so well written. I wish people would learn how to spell and use proper grammar in these blogs.
That said, I am glad Chris Brown's mother is standing by him. I do not condone his behavior towards Rihanna - whether she hit him or not. I do think he should do MAJOR Public Service Announcements. This could help break the cycle of violence against women. If his father (or step-father) hit his mother, then he probably learned it first hand. Some people really don't understand that beating women is wrong. Chris Brown has the perfect opportunity to put that myth to rest.
She(his mother) is a victim herself, of course she isn't ashame. She can still love him, but he actions were brutal. He should be in jail. One punch can be a mistake but repeated blows to the head is very very shameful, violent. He is an O"Jay in the making. They all need therapy and long term monitoring.
Her lack of shame was/is the reason he committed this cowardly act. Proves that what ever junior does is absolutely OK. This attitude does a great disservice to the growing child who cannot discern right from wrong and in this case; childish temper tantrum verses self control..........
