Oasis Bros. Hit Each Other in Anger, and Band's Leader Quits
By PopEater Staff Posted Aug 29th 2009 10:00AM
Because he couldn't imagine working "a day longer" with his younger brother Liam, Oasis guitarist and leader Noel Gallagher has quit the band, casting doubt on the 'Wonderwall' group's future. In a statement on the band's Web site, Gallagher said he's leaving "with some sadness and great relief." The brothers have long had a volatile relationship, and it was reportedly a fight backstage on Friday that led to Noel's snap decision. The Good Times:
The band were due to play the Rock en Seine festival in Paris on Friday, but fans were met with the following message instead: "As a result of an altercation within the band, the Oasis gig has been canceled."
According to a Guardian report, the brothers were involved in a fight backstage minutes before they were scheduled to hit the stage. The brawl is said to have involved broken guitars.
Singer Amy McDonald was told by a festival promoter all about the fight, writing on her Twitter page: "Oasis canceled again with one minute to stage time!!! Liam smashed noels guitar, huuuge fight!"
Gallagher quickly released a statement sending "apologies to all the people who bought tickets" for the band's remaining shows in France, Italy, and Germany.
Liam recently cast doubt on the band's future as well in an interview with NME magazine. In it, he admitted the brothers rarely spoke and only saw each other on stage.
"He doesn't like me and I don't like him, that's it," Liam said.
The surrly band from Manchester was an integral part of the Britpop movement in the 1990s. Their hits include 'Wonderwall,' 'Supersonic' and 'Champagnge Supernova.' After a quick burst of hits in America, the band struggled to regain their footing here, but remained hugely popular in their native Britain.

I like their music but they both need therapy.

They suck,no one will miss them!!!!

Oasis, just changed their name to Eclipsed. Those pop music Euro-trash dinosaurs, should change their
song Supersonic to Superannuated. Best news I've heard all day!!! Bye Bye ladies!!!

who cares about oasis? even when they were" popular" people were more interested in 2PAC and other artists. the brothers constant fighting was the only thing interesting about the band. or maybe it was the only reason to pay attention

These guys are the biggest morons in the music industry. Why do people even pay attention to them. These guys make me want to vomit. Grown men who act like children and think they are better than everybody else.

Why do these sort of 1 hit wonders think they're so important? If you asked the man on the street who's in the band or to name one song they'd look dumbfounded.

They have been going at each other since they came out of the womb. I'm sure they will kiss & makeup at some point when it comnes time to make another record. They need to get off the "stuff" they're on.

Good riddance. They are no longer relevant anyways.

these drunks ought to just stay away from each other, this break up is a good thing.

I wish they would have broke up a long time ago, then again I wish that they would have never formed a band in the first place. What a couple of immature idiots. Their music sucks, weak ass music. I remember all their tiny-bopper fans..the kiddies, thinking that they were the next Beatles..lol. What a joke their fans are..they are as much of a joke as Oasis..the next Beatles..haha..Fu*k you! Oasis is the best this generation has to offer?! Give me a break! Rock 'n Roll died long before these no talented spoiled brats came along. The late 60's & early 70's were the best years of music, bands like Led Zeppelin, Stones, Hendrix, Free, Humble Pie, Grand Funk and others, those bands were full of soul and feel, in concert those bands were incredible. Oasis..what a joke. And you tiny bopper kiddies that like Oasis are just as goofy as Oasis are/were. Hey Oasis, do the music world a favor...break the fu*k up!!!!

Don't sugarcoat it, tell us what you really want to say here. Let me sum up your comment another way: don't tell us what to listen to just because YOU aren't a fan. I'm not thrilled with their constant fighting, and I'm not about to condone it but they did a fair amount of music i happened to enjoy. For you to tell anyone what to listen to is much
"goofier" (your word) than deciding for ourselves what to listen to. If you don't like them, then simply don't listen to them...but don't tell me what I can and can't enjoy. You're not my mother and you're not in charge of Oasis and their careers. If they are to carry on, then so be it. They do have their fans...there are probably artists you like that a lot of the rest of us consider trash...remember that.
Have you bothered to listen to any NEWER music lately? I came of age in the 70's also, but having to listen to the old stuff can get pretty freaking boring. Oasis wasn't my favorite, but they had some excellent guitar, great vocals, and good drums in their music. If you don't like them and want to try updating your music choices a little, try Three Days Grace, Three Doors Down, Saving Abel, Evanesence, Collective Soul, Breaking Benjamin, Stained. There's a lot of really good rock out there...
Ahhhh I guess I'm the devils advocate, but I would rather listen to them over the dinosaurs like the Stones, Ded Zeplin, AcDc and the likes.
