Kelly Preston is pulling out of the annual Women's Conference, where she was to break her silence about the death of her teenage son with John Travolta. The actress said in a statement Friday that she is "still deeply in the process of healing, and it's just too soon."Preston was set to participate in a panel on grief at the annual event hosted by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and First Lady Maria Shriver.
Preston and Travolta, have kept low profiles since their 16-year-old son, Jett, died in January during a family vacation in the Bahamas. The teenager died of a seizure after years of poor health.

I pray for each of you, I can only imagine the pain of losing a child. I feel as if I am a very strong person but do not beleive in my heart I could live through the loss of one of my children. John and Kelly, when you are able and through our Heavenly Fathers help you will be an asset to parents with your strength.
God's Peace Be With You ALL,
Jim

Our heavenly Father will help them heal but it would help if they believed in Our Heavenly Father instead of a fake, made up ficticious religion that one man created to win a $5.00 bet.
Amen!

I can't imagine losing my only son and someone telling me to get over it. The people who tell you that are not your friends. My heart and sympathies go out to the Travoltas and anyone else who has lost a child. God Bless you and may you find peace in your heart.

What makes one religion ficticious compared to others?
Those with glass houses shouldnt throw stones. Your religion could be just as fake as theirs.

How do you know Jett was on Depakote? After reading your post, I looked it up. Scary stuff!

Depakote has been around as an anti-seizure medication for many years and works well for some. There are possible side effects to any medication, but people can and do die from seizures. Most side effects go away within the first week or two of starting the medication

This must be devastating to lose a child, no matter what religion. Many prayers go out to them, including mine.

It is so sad that people have to bash others for what they believe. I too lost a son 14 yrs ago almost to the day. There is no greater pain. I hope the best for them in the journies they travel ahead without their son.

The people who are saying harsh words, well they have no clue what it is like to lose a child. My son also passed away 14 years ago. It doesn't matter what race, religion, whatever. the loss of a child is unbearable yes you go on, but a piece of you will always be missing. So unless you know the feeling don't be so hard to judge. So sorry for your loss John and Kelly. Also for your loss Mama.

How terribly rude of you! They have lost a child.. It does not matter what religion you are, the pain is still the same.. Did you miss in the bible where it says thou shall not judge? You should be ashamed of your thoughtless comment

Who are you to judge what is in someone's heart that you don't even know? What a horrible thing to say about someone who is grieving like she must be.
Nothing hurts worse than losing a child. Respect her loss.

Having lost my oldest daughter last year as well, I undestand her grief. It is true, if it hasn't happened to you, you have no way of knowing the deep loss you feel. Time only soothes that feeling, but nothing ever takes it away.
My wonderful Grandmother lost her first child when he was 2 years old, and she was in her early 20's. She had 7 more children after that loss, and lived to be 97, but she still thought of her first born son every day until her death.
Sometimes the grief seems unbearable, but with God's help, we will get through this. At least I have the assurance that I will see my child again, and no one can take that from me.

there could ever be a good time to discuss a child leaving this earth before the parent.

I think it's time we left the Travoltas alone with their sadness. My husband and I also lost a son two years ago. Most people mean well when they try to comfort you but really all you want is to be left to yourself. And you do feel guilt no matter who you are or what you have or what your religion. Lets give them some peace!
