Band Offers Tribute and Tears to DJ AM

Blink-182 rocker Travis Barker is grieving the death of his close friend and music collaborator Adam Goldstein - known in the industry as DJ AM - and expressed his pain online and in concert on Saturday. The rock drummer and Goldstein escaped a plane crash together in 2008, and Barker wrote to his fellow survivor on Twitter, "Rest In Peace my brother, this really f---s me up. I'll never forget everything we've been thru and every time i play the drums i'll think of you. U were an amazing friend/DJ/human being."

Barker also tweeted, "Don't know how i am gonna play 2night but i am for AM... My brother is gone.i love u and miss u, i'll never forget all the good times we had."

Blink-182 paid tribute to DJ AM at their concert in Hartford, Conn, PEOPLE reports. "This night is really hard for us on stage," bassist Mark Hoppus told the audience. "We lost a dear friend yesterday. His name was Adam Goldstein. You probably know him as DJ AM. He was an innovator and a genius and he loved music more than anything else. Above all he was a dear friend."

The three members of Blink-182 asked the crowd for a moment of silence, and while the audience raised their lighters in tribute, the band shed tears.

"We are doing our very best to get through this show," said Hoppus, "but right now it's very hard."

When the show ended, he said, "Thank you very much. Although today is one of the hardest days in our entire lives, we wouldn't want to spend it anywhere else. Thank you for all of your support."

America celebrates suicides and mediocre peoiple far to often, yet leavces behind the people, like police, teachers, volunteers etc, without any rememberance. This man will not be ulogized by his own jewish family because to thenm, it is a disgrace to take your own life.

Who said this was a suicide? I was under the impression it was an accidental overdose. Drugs obviously aren't the answer to problems we have in life, but to insinuate that he will be shunned by his family and community is assinine. You are not one to judge. I'm sure you've made mistakes in your life as well. Unfortunately it ended in tragedy for Adam.

maybe...this will make all the entertainment people who are users, and the private people who are users, sit up and take notice. Here is a guy that was example for others, and now he is gone. It never lets you be free.

I hardly think so m8, i mean there have been pleanty of people who are far more famous then this guy (elvis for example) addicted and died from drugs! people will always take drugs no matter what has happaned to others

"JHFC" 'WGAS' about another Tatted out crack-head. Put him in the ground and move on. Look at the pic of Travis Barker and try and keep a straight face *Smerk*!! Just because the guy can play a swine flute and have his body look like a road map of hell, why give him the time of day!! He looks like the guy who wet his pants in Grade 10 English Class. I guess I am in the group who is shallow enought to waste his time to even comment on this.

I just think it's sad that this guy cheated death once, only to turn around and take it for granted.For the life of me, I don't understand what makes *anyone* even want to try drugs in the first place, knowing full well that they are playing Russian roulette every time they do it. Is it really worth the brief high? The same for drinking.........your problems are still there when you come down. Maybe I just never *got it*.....thankfully. I'm really sorry for this loss of a young life, and my condolences are with this man's family at this difficult time. Another promising life completely wasted...a true shame.
