Brown Can't Remember Beating Rihanna

Chris Brown will make his first television appearance since his February assault on Rihanna this Wednesday, appearing on 'Larry King Live.' CNN has released a preview clip of the interview, in which Brown alludes going into detail on that violent night.

In the clip, King asks the R&B star if he remembered hitting Rihanna, which he has since been charged and sentenced for. Brown bluntly replies: "No."

When King presses Brown about how he felt watching all of the coverage of the incident, Brown didn't expound much more. "I just look at it like, 'Wow.' I'm in shock because first of all that's not who I am as a person. And that's not who I pride myself on being," Brown said.

He went on to say that "When I look at the police reports ... I don't know what to think."

Brown's mother was by his side for the interview, telling King that her son "has never ever been a violent person," and that she "was totally shocked" when she found out what happened.

Brown was sentenced on Aug. 25 for felony assault. He was given five years probation and six months of community labor.

In his first communication with the public about the attack this summer, Brown told his fans how sorry he is about the beating incident. "I am very sad and very ashamed of what I have done... I've told Rihanna countless times and I am telling you all today that I am truly, truly sorry that I wasn't able to handle the situation both differently and better. " he said.

Back in April, Brown pleaded not guilty to both assault and criminal threat charges in court.

Brown's manager, Tina Davis, was named by TMZ as the woman behind the text message that sparked his alleged beating of Rihanna. She has since denied the claims, saying: "The rumors in circulation are false. There are no emails between Ms. Davis and Mr. Brown of the type which have been described in media reports."

Court documents revealed that the police report claims Brown allegedly assaulted Rihanna in his car after she discovered a text message on his phone. According to the report, Brown smashed her head against the window, and then punched and bit her.

TMZ obtained a photo that appears to be singer Rihanna, taken shortly after Brown allegedly beat her following a pre-Grammy party. Police have said the woman had visible injuries, and that Brown was gone from the scene when they arrived.

Brown can be seen leaving the police station after being booked. According to police reports, he assaulted Rihanna in the car, and told her "I'm going to beat the s--- out of you when we get home." He also allegedly threatened to kill her after she told her assistant to call the police.

In their cover story, PEOPLE spoke with the father of Rihanna, who says he hopes his daughter is done with boyfriend Brown after his alleged assault. Shortly after, reports that Rihanna and Brown were back together in Miami emerged.

Brown, seen a day before the alleged attack, released a statement on Feb. 15, which read in part, "Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired."

rudeboiswag, exactly what happens to the best of us? Beating a tiny, little woman till her face is swollen and purple?

I don't know what planet your from but that's definitely NOT what happens to the best of us. You may beat your girl or watch your sister and mom get beat and not care; that's not how the majority of people feel.

Chris Brown is a monster. It's people like you that let these monsters do their cruel acts to the innocent. You ignore their acts and blindly follow your ignorance.

The simple fact that he is using the 'I can't remember what happened' excuse is weak. And if he can't remember doesn't that make his apology after the incident meaningless? or is he just sorry he got carried away and was caught?

Please people quit giving these monsters your hard earned money!

You are in virtual denial and are blocking out your actions without taking responsibility for them.

You are a young man and you have your whole life ahead of you. This is an illness that needs immediate attention. Don't be ashamed but please get help.

Your mother's statement may have been technically correct with regard to not having seen you like that, but only she knows how much violence you saw in your home as a child and how it was handled.

Your mother needs to say, If my son did this than he needs help and I also take responsibility to ensure he gets the best.

seems to me if you are that forgetful maybe you ought to be locked up until you remember because i sure as hell do not want anymore of these "mishaps". violence such as this very rarely occurs just once and i am disgusted his mother stands by him without insisting that he seek help for something she let go on in her own life without any thought to the child watching.

Do you believe for one minute that Ms. R was just sitting there and Mr. C just decided to hit her for no reason. I understand that she is no saint herself. Sometimes pictures are enhanced to make a person look better or worse. Most people believe everything that they see and hear. Think for yourselves people. If any of you out there have ever actually been in an abusive relationship, you can first handedly attest to the fact that they never change. A man that would never hit a woman, never DOES!
While these people are in the spotlight, if you will, celebs.. supposedly talented artists, they appear to me to be milking a bad event for publicity, the likes that totally turn me off, yet keep other people with an I.Q. of 25, going on and on about how wonderful they are.
Our standards of how to treat people and how to live have gone directly down the toilet if you ask me.

In the previous incidents she is the one and (including this) who started it. How many men out there tell their daughters to hit a man? She has been reported by her own family members for having violent behavior. Now she's a lady, what happened to women's lib, women want to be treated equal, right. YOU CAN NOT GO AROUND HITTING ANYONE AND NOT EXPECT TO BE HIT BACK. If someone is repeatly hitting you over and over while you are driving what would you do? She knew what she was doing the only reason why we are hearing about it is because the media got a hold of it. How come we haven't seen his mug shot? Is it because he had bruises (which has been reported)? The judge ordered that they both be away from each other. You fight like a man you get beat up like a man. Yeah, yeah, yeah what would happen if it was my sister or daughter or hell even myself? Guess what it wouldn't because I don't go around hitting people without the idea of knowing I'll be hit right the hell back. Believe me there's been plenty of times I wanted to knock my husband in the head..LOL
I've noticed that everyone is in an up roar about this situation. How come noone was this mad over Tommy Lee and Pam Anderson or when Ozzy hit Sharon? Is it because rock and roll wives deserve it?

Hitting a man and getting hit back, yes I agree. But Chris did not simply hit her back... he beat her until she was bloody and bruised. Granted she may have bruised him, but it was NOTHING like he did her. My ex used to hit me and one day I could not take it anymore so I fought back. He almost killed me because I stood up for myself.. are you saying I deserved it because I fought back?

The eloquence with which he expresses himself is quite breath taking. Forget the fact that he can't remember the events, he can't even remember his own language. Maybe he couldn't find the correct descriptive words to fully depict what went on in the car and opted instead for amnesia. Though Amnesia is a 3 syllable word, I'm not sure he is aware that there is a word that means memory loss.
