You moron if you knew anything about these people you would know that our tax dollars have nothing to do with them and their children. If anything you could learn something from them!! They pay cash for everything they have and live completely debt free. If they want something they save until they can afford to pay for it in full, can you say that? Have you ever had tax dollars at work for you? I'm sure you are way more of a charity case than they are.... Try taking a look in the mirror before you go commenting on something you really know nothing about!!!!

On the surface it doesn't seem that they take advantage of the government to raise their huge brood, but look a little closer and the story changes.
They have a "church" in their basement, which means they don't pay property taxes. They get many "donations" to the church, which benefit them - a van for one, but there have been many others.
So, while they may not receive food stamps or welfare, they've certainly learned how to make the system work for them. And frankly, not paying your fair share of taxes is no different that receiving government assistance.

Actually our tax dollars do somewhat provide for them...have you heard of the child tax credit??? Although they are capped at a certain amount they still get a bigger credit than those of us who don't have 18 children. And I do respect ad admire the fact that they don't take handouts and pay for what they can afford but I think 19 is allot besides the fact that she is in the age where things start to go wrong with the babies.

To MizM there house has no basement.... so I don't know what you think your talking about. The only thing they do is have "home church" which is for there own family... they bought there bus through a closed bid auction!! They are very open as to how they have what they have and why they do what they do. There children are homeschooled so they are not even a burden on the public school system... they do not get welfare or any type of public assistance. Keep your opinions to yourself and be happy for them that at least the kids are happy, healthy and well adjusted as opposed to you who seems to be opinionated, rude, nasty and probably uneducated!! Stop be jealous and live you own life and leave them alone!! By the way while I would not choose to have 19 children I think if that is what they choose to do then God Bless them!! Good Luck Michelle & Jim Bob!!!

i applaud the fact that the duggars are financially responsible and do not live off the government. however, i find the fact that they are still producing children morally irresponsible. all of these children will hopefully grow up and continue to produce more children that will compete for jobs, food, housing and clothing in an already crowded world. if they truly believe that a child is a gift from god, why don't they adopt and raise these children that are already here and are desperate for a loving home. please let this woman go through menopause soon so that they cannot no longer bring more children into this world. just because they are biologically able to reproduce, it does not necessarily mean that it is the right thing to do.

This is getting way to crazy!! Although I admire them for paying cash for everything and not having any bills, (which is more than I can say for many of us) I don't feel that they show a lot of love and affection towards each other. Call me crazy but doesn't a "normal" family usually show a little of that?? I actually admire this family for being able to run their lives like they do!! But my question is why are we so accepting of this family with nineteen plus (she may keep going) and yet we are so crazy frustrated with Octo-mom? Hmmmm!! Last I heard she wasn't accepting any help and doing it on her own, and does this Duggar Family get paid for every television appearance they made?? So with our continued interest in reality they are living off maybe not the government but US!!!????

How are they selfish? It's not like they are stealing these kids from someone else. If they can afford them, (which they can without assistance) and raise them right (which they are), what is it to you? There are guys out there who have had as many kids with all their different "baby mamas" who are now all on welfare...and no one slams them for their irresponsibility.

I agree. They are out of control. There is no way every child is getting what they need from them emotionally. It is a disgrace and they should be ashamed.

I will tell you how they are selfish. They expect the older children to care for the younger children. This was verified by the couple. They assign an older child to a "buddy". So, to me, these kids are not getting any kind of childhood. They are all mini-parents.
Also, how on Earth do you think any of these kids get any individual attention for their parents?

Considering the immaturity of most (not all) of this country's teens and young adults, I think it's great that the older ones help with the younger ones. They are taught responsibility and how to make a family work. I'm amazed how that what used to be the norm is now looked upon as cruel. Older children, in times past, have always helped out. Now, most of them spend time in front of computers and texting each other. That's productive.

How funny you say its selfish because an older child gets a buddy - In such a large family
I have seen families of 2 kids tell the older child to do stuff for the younger child
They have a church because of their beliefs I only wish half the world can be like them
And shame on you for saying they shouldnt have kids simply cause its puts more people in competition for jobs - Judging by your comments your not gonna be able to get the kinds of jobs they would be qualified for anyways so no burden to you - Besides that I suppose we should just tell every woman in the world stop having kids just so there are plenty of jobs around
You guys are just jealous of the closeness this family has - And the fact that they take responsibility for their actions - As someone else said how many of you can say that your not in debt - They are 100% out of a debt even this grand house they live in 100% paid for how many of you can say that

As long as they can take of all their children without relying on the government to help them, then good for them and congratulations. Large families are a blessing if parents are responsible enough to raise them right, give them a good education, make sure they are not running the streets and as long as the taxparers are not expected to pay for it. What is "sick" is the people who keep having children and can't even take care of themselves.
