A live performance of 'A Streetcar Named Desire' was cut short when its star, Cate Blanchett, was accidentally struck by a prop. The actress was injured when her castmate Joel Edgerton tossed a radio - as planned - and it hit Blanchett on the head, Us Magazine reports.A concerned member of the audience told the Sydney Morning Herald that "[Blanchett] had blood streaming down the back of her head and blood on the back of her neck."
The witness added, "She acted for about another 30 seconds, then ran into what we thought was the next scene, but before we knew it the lights were turned on and we were told there were technical difficulties and everyone had to evacuate the Sydney Theatre Company."
Representatives of the Sydney Theatre Company confirm that Blanchett was not seriously hurt and is still scheduled to take the stage as planned on Wednesday night . "There was a minor incident on stage that unfortunately did injure Cate. There was a moment when another actor lifted the prop above his head and she somehow sustained a minor blow to the head," Tim McKeogh told the Daily Telegraph, and added that Blanchett is now "absolutely fine."
A spokesperson for the actress says, "Cate's just fine."

So you know all about medicine? Because you obviously know little about reading or writing.
I love Cate Blanchett... one of the underrated and least appreciated excellent actresses around...I am sure that she will get the care that is needed and God bless but she may need a break from her hectic schedule...I hope she takes it!

you're right, she is one of the best. how come natasha richardson and cate get hit, but madonna walks around unscathed?!
I love Cate Blanchett too! She is my favorite actress, since I first saw her in Oscar and Lucinda. She is the best actress of her generation (which is mine too, since she is one year younger than me). This just scares me. Though, it sounds like she went for immediate care. I hope she is doing well.
"underrated and least appreciated"?! she has an oscar! i think she's VERY appreciated!
Live performances are terrific training ground, or practice, for most performers, but there's always dangers. A stage area, much less a performance that requires physicality (and Streetcar definitely requires that), has a lot of inherent areas of danger.
I wish Ms Blanchett a speedy recovery. In my estimation, she ranks with Meryl Streep as one of our top actresses alive and working today.

mbrul,
What makes you think Madonna hasn't suffered her fair share of mishaps on stage? I'm probably a lot older than you, and remember when she first broke out. I can remember her getting burned in one tour, straining her vocal chords, turning an ankle, lots of other injuries. The main difference (besides the amount of talent, and you'd have arguments with some about that) is that Madonna trains as a dancer as well as singer, and therefore may have better reflexes.

mbrul's comment was a joke, you know, as in humorous, comical, funny? any of these words ring a bell?
and maria, you are a FREAK. your kind scares the bejesus out of me.
Madonna really is a disgusting person. She took upon one of the names the mother of Jesus is known for as a stage name and then desecrated it by her immoral lifestyle. The way she behaved and conducted her life is a great mock at the face of GOD. It is not about how famous & rich she became, how courageous or how she is a pioneer of some sort. It is about taking the name that is held with much respect as the mother of GOD, and destroying it. So now when you think of the name Madonna you think of a worldly immoral famous person. And so the name gave a confusing image to some people. She literally stole the name and desecrated it. And we all know satan is the cause of confusion. I am not saying she is evil, but she is under the influence of that. Because only someone who is influenced by the devil will do something like that and her fame which is the prize she had received because of the direct cause of her selling herself to provoke an unholy image is also the triumph of evil in getting her soul.

lol, omg...that remark from Maria makes me laugh...seriously get a life dollface.
well said Maria I agree totaly Madonna ....came from the gutter...
Her given name IS Madonna- get your facts straight before you hate.
You really need to check facts before ranting and raving. She was born Madonna Louise Ciccone, the name given to her by her mother and father..Not a stage name!!! Who looks silly now!!!
How do all of you know if there is a God or not? Have you seen this God? Look the idea of this thread is not to rant about your religious beliefs or lack there of. This post is for an actress to wish her a speedy recovery. As far as Madonna goes how rude is it to wish ill health on someone? I mean should her children have to suffer that loss? If you are religious then remember "He who cast the first stone" are you perfect? Highly doubtful because you felt the need to trash someone that you don't know. Anyway bottom line Cate please recover fast and keep performing you are a great actress!
You really need a LIFE!
Maria you're an idiot... Madonna's GIVEN name is
Madonna Ciccone. Her MOTHER named her that, it isn't a stage name. Get your facts straight before you post... stupid.
Maria - fyi - Madonna's real name is Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone. She was named after her
mother.
