After 'Saturday Night Live' lost Amy Poehler ('Baby Mama') last year, Maya Rudolph ('Away We Go') the year before, and Tina Fey ('30 Rock') the year before that, it is rumored that the good ship SNL is plugging its leaks on the girl side of the vessel by bringing in some fresh new female talent.
The Comic's Comic Web site is reporting that 'SNL' will be adding Jenny Slate, pictured, and Nasim Pedrad to the cast for its 35th season.
Jenny has become a New York City indie comedy scene favorite, starring in her one-woman show 'Dead Millionaire' at the Upright Citizen Brigade. UCB is a NYC hotbed of comic development that wrought Horatio Sanz and Poehler (both from 'SNL'). Jenny was featured as a network page and an assistant on 'Late Night with Jimmy Fallon''
Nasim was born in Tehran, Iran and is a graduate of The Groundlings improv comedy troupe in Los Angeles. Notable Groundlings alums include Will Ferrell, Phil Hartman and Rudolph (all of 'SNL'). Nasim also starred in her own one-woman show 'Me, Myself & Iran' during the 2007 Las Vegas Comedy Festival. She recently portrayed Nurse Suri in several episodes of 'ER', the longest-running medical drama in American primetime television history.
The new SNL season will be kicking off with Weekend Update Thursdays starting on September 17th and the first full episode on September 26th. Word is the season premiere will be hosted by Hollywood It-girl and Maxim magazine fave Megan Fox, although no official word has been released by NBC.
SNL celebrated a comedic renaissance last year. Season 34's premiere, hosted by Olympic swimming gold medalist Michael Phelps and starring Fey and Poehler portraying Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin and Democratic Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton respectively, was the highest-rated premiere since September 2001 and the second most-watched episode in SNL history.

It was only briefly funny last year because it was an election year. The show stopped being funny years ago. One sketch out of 1 1/2 hours that is even remotely funny is not enough. NBC lose the show and give it a good burial. It has been deal for years and it is starting to smell.
brook brodack should be cast on there. she is more creative and understands new media and this generation's funny more than anyone! enough with this old, tired, has been sketch comedy. brook is as smart and funny as the greats of comedy! so instead of brookers, we get more of the same old!
That Keenan guy is the WORST. He is NEVER funny, always overacts and uses the same voice. We record SNL on our DVR and fast forward through every skit he's in. Getting rid of him would be a good way to start the new season.
