'American Idol' contestant Jim Verraros will be tying the knot with his boyfriend of four years, Bill Brennan, this coming Saturday in Oak Brook, IL.
Although same-sex marriage is not legalized in Illinois, Verraros writes on the couple's Web site, "This wedding is a culmination of our lives so far, and our lives from this point onward. It is so imperative to the both of us that our friends and family see just how in love we are, and how happy we are to share it with everyone."
"People ask me how I knew that Bill was the one, and I always say the same thing: 'I just knew. When you KNOW, you know,'" Verraros wrote.
The two met through MySpace after Brennan messaged Verraros, who had just finished his stint on season one of 'Idol'. "I had about 25 friends and Jim had about 10,000! I can tell you that when I sent a message to Jim's MySpace account, I thought based on his First Season of American Idol fame and the fact that he was an actor and recording artist, that I would never get a response," Brennan wrote.

The two actually got in contact and Brennan recalls their first meeting. "Jim asked if I wanted to meet up for coffee or see a movie sometime, and I in turn invited him to go out with some friends on November 23, 2005. That night we talked non-stop for 7 hours straight. I guess you could say that the stars were aligned for us to meet and the conversation was honest, intense, intriguing, and nothing like I had ever experience before," he said.
"As with many couples who first start dating, we had some bumps in the road that first year. But we worked through them and became a better couple because of those bumps. When I proposed to Jim nearly a year and a half ago, I knew I found my soul mate and my best friend," Brennan added.
As for Varraros, he knew quickly into the relationship that he'd found his soul mate. "It was the first time in my life I could say to myself, I'm in love with him. It's funny how life works sometimes; you never think you'd ever find your soul mate so early on in life, but I had," he said.
"I knew with Bill that I wanted to "marry," him. I put "marry," only because, sadly it isn't legal in Illinois yet, but we're hopeful that the time is near. Looking back on our four years together, we've come so far and grown so close together. He's not only my partner, but my confidante, my soul mate, my best friend, and the love of my life. When we're apart, I miss him and when we're together, I think to myself how lucky I am that our paths have crossed and intertwined," Verraros wrote.

Your a bigot Mickey plus you don't know what your talking about your talking out of your ass. And it isn't sexual dyfunction as you have claim Mickey everything you have said has been wrong. I'm always right.
And that would be why, because it's "traditional"? Just as it was "traditional" to own slaves, or "traditional" for women to not be allowed to vote or "traditional" to have "white schools" and "black schools"??
Nick, I am one of those Christian "Idiots". I would rather obey God and believe him than listen to poeple like you. The Bible explains perfectly in no uncertain terms what God thinks about same sex marriage. It is wrong!! You can deny it, make fun of us all you want, but it still does not make it right.
And who exactly wrote the bible? Did God write it? Do you think you're actually reading the words of Jesus exactly as he said them? Or could you perhaps be reading somebody else's interpretation? How many times has the bible been censored to meet a political agenda? What was removed, what was added? When will ya'll learn to think for yourself?
Everyone deserves equal rights, in marriage, at work, in life. Same sex or no sex, it really doesn't matter, as long as they're happy...
And where does the Bible say that? In the discussion on Sodom and Gomorrah? The chapter that says it's okay to offer your virgin daughters to a lustful crowd to "do with what thou will" as "they have not known man"? And for those daughters to get their father drunk in order to have sex with him and get pregnant? You are one sick person!!
Thank You Jenna and Daisy. Come On folks this isn't the dark ages. Slavery was fine in the bible but has been abolished, the same goes for rape and incest. GET REAL. On top of that the translation from Hebrew, Greek, and Latin is antiquated and white washed for the period of time in which it was acquired. Any educated person would be aware of all of these facts, and the bible has nothing to do with American Law. THANK GOD!!
Exactly where does the Bible explain what God thinks about same sex marriage? I know exactly where it says not to eat shrimp, that it is OK to own slaves, and that women should not be teachers. Jesus spoke much about poverty but never even mentioned homosexuals - must not have been in his top 50 concerns.
For those "Christians" out there. Maybe you should read your bible... Jesus opposed organized religion and yet...here you are... Did I miss something along the way of the teachings? I thought they were to love each other. And I am a bit curious as to how anyone assumes the right to judge...That's up to God..or so says your bible.
I, having been devoutly Christian my whole life, know that those people who claim that the bible claims homosexuality is a sin are complete and utter idiots. It says nothing of the sort, however, it does say that it is unclean....NOT A SIN. Do you know what else the bible says is unclean...shellfish, mixing fabrics, etc. Do you eat shellfish? Have you ever worn mixed fabrics? I bet you have so how do you have the right to say that it is a sin to be homosexual. In fact, how do you have the right to judge others. That is not your job. Unless your name is Jesus Christ, you don't have the right to judge anyone, lest ye be cast into hell. And since I know you're not God, then shut your false christian mouth, for everyone's sake.
In your opinion bjm, which unfortunately is not the law of this country..... denying one group of people the CIVIL rights of the whole is not only not nice, but in this country its also unconstitutional, and has absolutely zero to do with religion. I cant wait till you so called Christians stand before Christ who was also derided in His day but ministered to those who had no other ministry. Christ was all loving and never hating. He worked with a heart conceived literally in Heavenly Love, and He will not be pleased with you people who are blasphemous enough to twist his words. I am a straight, married, middle aged Republican Christian and seriously believe that Christ put you haters here as a test, and also as an illumination that there are those out there who would hate any of God's creatures. I have news for you, within 10 years there will be marriage equality in this country as there is in many others without any problems. Whom will you choose to hate then?
I APPLAUD THESE GUYS FOR GOING PUBLIC AND WISH THEM THE BEST. I HATE THAT PEOPLE CAN'T ACCEPT THE WORD MARRIAGE FOR A GAY UNION. THAT WORD IS MEANT FOR THOSE THAT TAKE PLACE IN A CHURCH. WELL HOW MANY HETERO COUPLES GET MARRIED BY A JUSTICE OF THE PEACE? ARE THOSE CIVIL UNIONS AS WELL?
I am a "Christian Idiot" and I suppose same sex marriage. Not because I think its right, but because it is fair. I am also an American and believe that all Americans should have the same rights. I love you Nick and Jesus does too :D
BHAM should be ashamed?? Wow, what a messed up world this really is. I guess they'll have children that call one mom and the other dad? I've seen this with females....and we as a society wonder what's wrong with the children these days. It's the "society" and ethics they're taught. Can I get an AMEN.
How can you even say that!!!! Gays and Lesbains have been around forever. Being a lesbain myself i think you are totally wrong saying that marriage is only for a man and a woman!! Who says you can help who you fall in love with?? A REAL wedding is a couple who loves each other and is happy.
Your definition of a wedding is correct, however that is not the definition of marriage to be. Most people do not know what love is. We use love to describe our feelings towards just about anything. One thing I can say is that God has given us choice and we are not to hate anyone nor condemn them, we must love them and through our living let them see the truth and light in us. I have done so many wrong things that people introduced me to and it felt good and right and in fact there was no man made law against it, but one night I had a vision that change my life and caused me to seek God. I started reading the Bible and the Holy Spirit began to teach me the truth. No earthly taught me and no earthly man know the things I did because they would have crucified me. I urge you to seek the truth. No man's truths, but God's. May God bless you.
I am not a Christian. Not everyone will share the same beliefs. You gays want everyone to follow you. But as soon as someone expresses a different opinion, they are looked at as being wrong. How about growing up, nasty!
