'American Idol' contestant Jim Verraros will be tying the knot with his boyfriend of four years, Bill Brennan, this coming Saturday in Oak Brook, IL.
Although same-sex marriage is not legalized in Illinois, Verraros writes on the couple's Web site, "This wedding is a culmination of our lives so far, and our lives from this point onward. It is so imperative to the both of us that our friends and family see just how in love we are, and how happy we are to share it with everyone."
"People ask me how I knew that Bill was the one, and I always say the same thing: 'I just knew. When you KNOW, you know,'" Verraros wrote.
The two met through MySpace after Brennan messaged Verraros, who had just finished his stint on season one of 'Idol'. "I had about 25 friends and Jim had about 10,000! I can tell you that when I sent a message to Jim's MySpace account, I thought based on his First Season of American Idol fame and the fact that he was an actor and recording artist, that I would never get a response," Brennan wrote.

The two actually got in contact and Brennan recalls their first meeting. "Jim asked if I wanted to meet up for coffee or see a movie sometime, and I in turn invited him to go out with some friends on November 23, 2005. That night we talked non-stop for 7 hours straight. I guess you could say that the stars were aligned for us to meet and the conversation was honest, intense, intriguing, and nothing like I had ever experience before," he said.
"As with many couples who first start dating, we had some bumps in the road that first year. But we worked through them and became a better couple because of those bumps. When I proposed to Jim nearly a year and a half ago, I knew I found my soul mate and my best friend," Brennan added.
As for Varraros, he knew quickly into the relationship that he'd found his soul mate. "It was the first time in my life I could say to myself, I'm in love with him. It's funny how life works sometimes; you never think you'd ever find your soul mate so early on in life, but I had," he said.
"I knew with Bill that I wanted to "marry," him. I put "marry," only because, sadly it isn't legal in Illinois yet, but we're hopeful that the time is near. Looking back on our four years together, we've come so far and grown so close together. He's not only my partner, but my confidante, my soul mate, my best friend, and the love of my life. When we're apart, I miss him and when we're together, I think to myself how lucky I am that our paths have crossed and intertwined," Verraros wrote.

CONGRATS Jim & Bill on getting married I wish all the best. Being gay is not a sin as the bible has claim which is dead wrong and needs to be changed that being gay is great and isn't sin and that god/jesus loves all.
Karen as i have 2 children of my own and i and my partner are lesbains we are both considered their"mom". My kids are not ashamed at all by this as they consider thierselves lucky to have to moms.
Wow, I cannot believe what I read. What happened to this country? We have to deal with reading about two gay guys getting "married" and all we hear is issues about what state will prohibit it and allow it? The people have lost the word of God. Marriage is for a man and a woman and to reproduce more children of God. This is ridiculous
You don't have to deal with it at all. The article header clearly told you that it was a man marrying a man. You did not have to select the link and read the article.
Quote: "Sandy-- SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE. The bible also has lots of words on how to treat your slaves, and about how you have raise the kid of the woman you just raped. Do you own slaves. Do you want to be raped just to be a mom. Preposterous and absolutely absurd to pick and choose what to believe out of the bible and what not to. Take a much closer look at your own house prior to judging others!!"
First of all, Nick, try reading the whole Bible, not just taking what you want out of context like you accused me of.
The slavery issue is not like the slavery we had in America. Most slavery in Israel was in the form of "bond servants." Those who had a debt that they couldn't pay and so they would serve the one to whom the debt was owed until it was paid off.
Also, when the Bible does talk of slavery, it doesn't do it as condoning it, but it simply records what was happening. The Bible, if you'd bother to actually read the whole thing, puts slave traders in the same company as "lawbreakers and rebels, the UNGODLY and SINFUL, the UNHOLY and IRRELIGIOUS, those who kill their mothers and fathers, murderers, adulters and perverts, liars and purjurers, and whatever else is CONTRARY to the sound doctrine" (1 Timothy 1:8-10).
And despite the fact slavery was common in the semitic cultures of the day, the law of the Bible DEMANDED that slaves be SET FREE after 6 years of service (exodus 21:2,Leviticus 25:40). And they were to be treated with respect. And if one decided to stay with them after the 6 years were up, they were to be taken in and given the same rights as any member of the family.
And where in the Constitution does it even MENTION the separation of church and state?
If there was to be such a separation, why was the Constitution signed "In the year of OUR LORD?"
And why do the constitutions of ALL 50 STATES mention God in them???
Really people! Ok here goes... "Traditional" come on people, its the 21st centery. Humans are humans, and you can't help who you fall in love with. Also I am so sick in tired of hearing about this who Religious battle. I know it will never stop.. but just think for one second. Ask yourself.. do you live a "PERFECT" life? Also who is "God" to judge if someone is gay.. or at that matter.. black, white, orange, purple, etc. If "God" is said to love all "his" children, why not gays? There humans as well! Just because you do not agree with it.. doesn't make it wrong.. just in your ignorant eyes it does. Let people live there own lives. Who cares who they marry.. because in the end of the day.. you should only have to worry about one person.. and that is yourself. So stop your ignorant crying people.. and just live your own life! And just be happy with what you got.. because in a mili second you can be gone just like that! And it won't matter if your married to a man or women.. because no one really knows what happens when you die. You have a belief.. a faith.. but no one knows! So I leave here with this.
Be happy with your life.. and live it the best you can. Stop worrying about other people, and worry about your own damn lives!
Thank you for an educated, realistic view of our world today!! Just because there are people who believe that you should marry someone you love is a good thing, doesn't mean that we don't believe in God.
So let me get this straight according to most of the "tolerant" people here im sad, idiotic, racist, pathetic, christian lover, hateful(and whatever else people said)i'm all this because i choose not to accept 2 guys sticking it in their cornholes?? why is it that im ignorant for not accepting same sex marriage but your not for accepting it? you so called tolerant people get mad at religious fanatics for trying to push their religious believes on you yet if i dont accept your believes i'm all if the above! you can forget about religion, god, morals, and ethics all that is irrelevant i think as human beings we should know that same sex marriage is just plain WRONG! if everybody was gay how the hell would we procreate?? same sex marriage doesnt insult the institution of marriage, it disrupts our natural way of life, our way of survival.
It is not my perogative to say that someone's sexual preference is right or wrong. I am married, and we have 5 children together. BUT, I've seen so many "traditional" couples that should never have reproduced because they are aweful parents! If a child grows up in a loving home, then they are blessed!!
Who cares. However, if your going to quote the Constitution, do yourselves a favor and read it first. Separation of church and state is not in there. That idea came from a letter written by Thomas Jefferson (remember him?) to a church in De. or Va. letting them know they were free to worship as they saw fit, with no involvement from the government. Who cares about the Constitution anyway, the last few elected leaders pretty much reduced it to toilet paper. Bye sheep.
I married my dog in a private ceremony in Illinois. The state of Illinois does not recognize deviant marrages but we had a small ceremony anyway with some friends and their dog spouses.
I love how people can speak about someone that doesn't exist. It's like were all 8 years old with imaginary friends. God told me and this is god's truth. A truth is only a truth when there is proof. The bible is not the truth it's a book of fables written by men who all claim to have spoken to this god who doesn't exist. We god a man who lived inside a whale for what 30 days or something. A man who builds a giant ark and is able to get 2 of every animal in the world all in one boat and nothing happened. There are some good lessons and morals to be had but so does many other works of fiction.
Yeah Andrew, and the Universe (matter and energy) creating itself from nothingness, and life creating itself from dead matter makes sooooooo much more sense!
