Ashlee Puts the 'La' in 'Late Night'

Ashlee Simpson was Thursday night's guest on 'Late Night With Jimmy Fallon,' discussing the revival of 'Melrose Place' with a ditzy manner that led some to wonder if was Ashlee in good spirits - or on good spirits. Watch the video and let us know if you think Mrs. Pete Wentz was just having fun or a few too many pre-show refreshments.

Ashlee will appear this fall in the sequel to the vintage '90s primetime soap opera. 'Melrose Place' premieres September 8 on the CW. Ashlee is joining the all-new cast as the character Violet Foster.

Ashlee is adorable and insulting her looks smacks of jealousy. She seemed no more vivacious than many who have sat in that chair. Remember she is very young, and the nerves facing a national audience must be overwhelming. Her teeth look great. If anyone remembers her show on MTV, you'd know she has a refreshingly free spirit and does not put on the "Hollywood" face. Kudos to you Ashlee and remember that everyone who speaks negatively of you would switch places with you in a flash!

I guess DAD thought keeping both daughters STUPID was the charm (Ashlee and Jessica). I wonder what MOM is like. Probably a Stepford Wife.

man! you people are harsh as all hell. Ashley looked fine and acted like a nervous starlet- exactly what she was. I thought she was endearing. It's the innocent ones that include the studio audience in the conversation - the "regular" folk (they sometimes have on) also always look at the audience. At least she wasn't some preening "I'm too amazing for words" actress, and she didn't seem remotely intoxicated or high. The implication that she was on something and the request to get our take on whether we agree is obviously a pathetic ploy to get us into more TMZ type of crap. Jeez, can't we just enjoy these actors for what they offer us in terms of entertainment (mindless or otherwise) instead of ripping into them for every imagined slight? And when is anyone going to be perfect looking enough so that comments aren't printed about them being 1) too fat, 2) too thin, 3) too old, 4) too altered (to fit our tastes!). Isn't it obvious that Ashley has already been through the emotional wringer about how little she stacks up to our ideas of perfection? She started out as a gorgeous kid and yet she still went in and had herself reconstructed in order to get everyone off her back. So get off her back before driving her to the looney bin like Britney, Lindsay,Kirsten, etc.

Dear Joanne, I can't believe that you believe what you are selling having such an intelligent way of expressing yourself. Don't dumb yourself down to fit in or understand BIMBOISM.

her laugh is annoying....and she swayed alittle in her seat on the fallon show. perhaps she had like a couple of margaritas but i dont think she was totally drunk!!!!! just a little something for nerves. but both are pretty similar other than the sway.

People change slightly in the company they're in...that's all it is. I'm sure most people who appear on the today show would be a little bit more reserved than if they were on a late night show. Plus, Jimmy Falon's show sucks....so who cares?

I am personally not a fan of Ashlee Simpson and clicked on this link to actually get a laugh over what she did that was so stupid and "quirky". Instead, I am so frustrated and annoyed THIS a top story that flashes up when my home page comes up. This clip actually makes my opinion of Ashlee higher but aside from that, this kind of publicity goes to show how corrupt the media is when they have to focus or critique a celebrity's behavior on a show like this one. Whoever is responsible probably has never experienced being viewed and judged by millions on national tv; much less accomplished what she has. I really can't believe I actually took time to do this but this just really rubbed me the wrong way! I think Ashlee was acting perfectly normal and I thought she seemed cooler. Now, I know that's my personal opinion and I may be wrong for clicking on the link to see how she acted and get a little laugh. But that was because I thought she had been totally out there and acted insane by the headline. That is the exact OPPOSITE and I just didn't think she deserved this AT ALL.
