'Dancing With the Stars' Couple Split!

'Dancing With the Stars' couple Karina Smirnoff and Maksim Chmerkovskiy have officially split, Smirnoff's rep told PEOPLE. No reason was given for the split, but it looks like their busy schedules finally caught up with them.

Smirnoff and Chmerkovskiy met on 'Dancing With the Stars' and started dating in October of last year. Then, just a few months later on New Year Eve, he popped the question. They planned on getting married in June 2010.

Chmerkovskiy went on Twitter to apparently address the break-up. "What was meant to be a 'life long book', turned into a 'chapter'.......and now that 'chapter' is finished...... Se la vie," he wrote.

When PopEater spoke with Smirnoff in May, she seemed a little overwhelmed with the impeding wedding plans. "It all came really, really quick. I was like, 'Whoa! This is really a lot to take on,'" she said.

"[At first], we couldn't find the common ground on the wedding negotiations... A woman is suppose to plan the wedding, but it got to the point where it was just too much, especially with me working on 'Dancing With The Stars.' I kept saying, 'Oh, we'll do that later.' ... [Maksim] joked that he was going to have to plan it all, tell me the wedding date and just have me show up with my hair and make-up ready," she added.

Why couldn't they just elope? Who says everyone has to have a huge wedding anyway. If they truly loved each other and the wedding was becoming overwhelming, they could have gotten married quietly and started their lives together. I did that, and my marriage has lasted 40 years..

I have loathed Maksim since he made those horrible comments saying 2 of the female dancers on DWTS were fat, when they weren't. He is a total jerk, and any woman would be better off without him because he is far too in love with himself to be a good partner, husband or father.
