Fatty Damon Had 'Funnest' Time Eating

Some actors go through excruciating lengths to drop pounds for roles, almost to the point of unhealthiness. Matt Damon, however, lucked out when it came to 'The Informant!' as he was asked to pack on 30 pounds for the goofy role. The actor, probably best known nowadays for his chiseled, bone-snapping 'Bourne' roles says he had "probably the funnest time" he's ever had working while filming 'The Informant!,' saying he loved not having to go to the gym after work. "I just ate everything I could see," Damon tells PEOPLE.

is that my dreamy Matt Damon? kinda yucky with the spare tire!! hope he thinks it's also funnest taking all that off again, too. I'm carrying an extra 10 right now that I haven't put on since my 14 year old was conceived and I am having a devil of a time dropping it. Don't like the look or feel of that on my waistline or ego! Just want it to go away!!

This guy makes millions of dollars and he says "funnest". There is no such word. It is "most fun" or "more fun". Now wonder people today have poor grammar, listening to celebrities talk. He should invest some of that money in some English grammar lessons.

Actually, Becca, "fun" has become commonly used as an adjective and is no longer solely a noun as it was in the past. As an adjective, it can be modified with "er" and "est." It may not sound correct, because for decades we heard "fun" as a noun in its purest form. Still, since we now allow that somebody can say "I had a fun time" instead of "I had fun" and accept that "fun" is a descriptor in the former, it is practical to believe that it would then be possible that something could be "funner" or "funnest."

Think "tall." We say "taller" and "tallest."

The use may be more recent, or even generational, but that doesn't make it less legitimate. Grammar rules do change.

And he's an Oscar winning writer. XD

Language changes and evolves over the years, and silly things like funner/more fun and funnest/most fun are good examples of that. True, "funnest" would be considered incorrect if it was in a formal paper, but it is slowly being recognized as a part of speech -- even though it is casual, informal speech.

Personally, I find a person that speaks super correct grammar all of the time fairly annoying. What I find annoying-er (lol), though, is someone that always has to point out the little slip ups. Honestly, who cares? He makes millions and uses an as-yet incorrect word. Key note: he makes millions! Do you Grammar Police make millions? Hardly.

Poor speech can't be blamed on celebrities, but it can be blamed on a decline in academic interest (reading, writing, etc). People sit and watch TV and play videos games all day -- no grammar required, so what do you expect?

Give me a break! Haven't you ever said "that's the funnest thing I've ever done?" I know I have, and yes, I know it's not a correct word. And I am a "spell nazi" that Mr. Griddlecakes referred to, but I try not to push that on other people's writing/speaking. If this is the only thing you have to complain about, you need to get out more.

Make that "no" wonder. Oops! Should proofread shouldn't I?

It is funny for Matt to gain weight, he is most likely getting millions to do the role and the entire shooting might take nomore than 6 months and he is done. What the heck is 30 pounds extra weight. Matt will turn around and hire a personal trainer for $50,000 for 3 months to shed 30 pound of weight and im sure he has excess to state of the art gym at his mansion. After shooting the movie, he has all the time to shape up, he ain't working his ass off 40 plus hours like we do all year around.

You'll most likely never be as buff again. I've battled weight all my life,so I know what it can do to you. I have lost 80+ pounds and KEPT it off,without fad diets or dangerous pills.The weight is gone,but I now have HI BP and am diabetic. What...you never heard of a FAT SUIT???!!!!

Here's another spelling/grammar Nazi! It's "access" to state-of-the-art...(not "excess"). I just couldn't help myself! I don't mind people saying "ain't" because I KNOW you know better. And I don't mind obvious typos like the poster who said "now" when they meant "no." But I can't take atrocious grammar and misspelled words. This bothers me because it's proof of how our schools have failed. We're becoming a nation of ignoramuses. Some posters are so bad you can't tell what in the world they are trying to say!
