Actress Michelle Stafford, 43, is expecting her first child this December through a surrogate, PEOPLE reports. 'The Young and the Restless' star spent "a three-year journey through hell" struggling through fertility treatments and surgeries, but now admits she's "elated, ecstatic" that she'll finally have a child of her own, Stafford said in a statement.Stafford, who is single, tried artificial insemination, in vitro fertilization and also looked into adopting after deciding to start a family on her own. Four surgeries and three egg retrievals later, she finally arrived at the surrogate option.
"I never wavered in my desire to be a mother. But I did waiver on aspects of the process. It was the hardest thing I've ever done in my life," she said.
She admits she's looking forward to a baby shower at the home of pal Kirstie Alley -- and readjusting her take on the dating world. "This entire process has been very, very difficult to do on my own and has made me realize the importance and reason for a partner," Stafford added.
"Dating men and telling them I'm expecting in December is a little different. I know I just need to find someone who wants the same things as I do," she said.

SELFISH>>>>SELFISH>>>>SELFISH!!!!!
I want a baby.....wah wah wah!!!
Reply
Why would wanting a baby make her selfish? She is clearly capable and dedicated to giving a child a wonderful life. What's selfish is all the people having babies who already depend on the government for financial support and who are having babies with whomever...one woman, three babies and three baby daddies.
Hey JT how is this selfish her wanting a baby of her own. What selfish is the OCTOMOM that can not take care of her own children without our tax dollars. You are an idiot.
I'm glad she did it...she is one nice lady...I use to watch the show religiously..but now from time to time..I don't have kids because I neer found he right man that I wanted to father my child......good for her I didn't have the guts to do what she is doing...Way to go Michelle
seriously????? "selfish....wah wah wah"?? VERY mature!! Ms.Stafford is an established actress of talent who clearly thought thru her options, and given her occupation will be able to provide a comfortable life for her new daughter..Michelle,my heartfelt congrats...you'll be a great mom
"Stafford, who is single, tried artificial insemination, in vitro fertilization and also looked into adopting" Thank goodness she did not have to resort to Intercourse )
Why not wait till the last minute? Our bodies were made to have babies in our 20s and 30s. I guess her TV career was more important. Now she's older and afraid of being alone. Too bad.

I think the article said she has been trying for three years...Even though she would have been 40 when she started. I admire her, she is one of my favorites.
There are lots of women who are having babies in their 40's....your mind set is about 20-30 years outdated! Drs. w/more knowledge, hospitals, nurses, all staff, better equipment. I don't see a problem......
Besides, she is not p.g., she has a surogate! DUH!
You are an idiot. Its these teenagers and people in their early 20's who are getting knocked up without marriage or divorcing soon after that are the problem. Hell a 66 year old woman gave birth, so get out of your trailor park and get some fresh ideas on the subject.
You've obviously never wanted something really bad until it hurts. Sometimes we wait for other reasons not just career or anything. Your comment is so insensitive which is how a lot of people are...try putting yourself in someone else's shoes before you write or open your mouth to spew words out. I've been there with the fertility thing and believe me it hurts. I'm happy for her! I just wish my husband and I could have been successful with our infertility treatments.
"....Our bodies were made to have babies in our 20s and 30s. I guess her TV career was more important...." Eve, you ignorant dope. I had my 1st at 23, 2nd at 26 & the 3rd at 41. What a difference having a baby at 41 as far as understanding, patience and appreciation. I have been raising my 13 year old on my own since day 1 and while I had the support of friends and family, many thought this would be a troubled child. He has been a joy to raise and his older brothers learned patience and love through this. Don't judge someone's desire for a late-in-life pregnancy until you've walked in that person's shoes. EVERYONE who meets this kid, makes a point of telling me how nice, polite and well-behaved he is. His father was/is a loser. He knows that he is loved and KNOWS who is & will always be there for him. Not so bad for a single, working mom....
How do you figure that age thing? Who died and made you an expert? That is simply your opinion and that is all. Are you aware that there are some cultures that they do not marry until late 20s early 30s? They do really well with their families. They parents are grown up and have a firm footing on life and how to get along in the world. Myself, I have children from 28 to 40 with two in the middle in their later 30s. I was 20 when the oldest was born...I will tell you that I was more able when the middle two came along and the last one was the best ever. More patience, wisdom and understanding. So, until it is you, your opinion does not mean squat.
I had four children of my own by 21 , Let me tell you I am doing it again at age 43 , with a 5 yr old an a 2 yr old grandson fulltime & 2 - 12 yr old stepchildren . I am way better equipped at my age now to be doing this , Then I was at age 21. Age is just a number our bodies were made to be able to produce children way into our 40's an would you rather have us supporting them financially at our age or suckin up welfare funds at 20 an under . I have way more fun raising these children then I did yrs ago. I'm more mature, not worried about where their next meal or diaper is coming from or boys ! Even though a good man is still hard to find as we can see from some comments. I'm glad she is doing this an most surrogates & adoptions are open now , not like yrs ago. Even if they are using her eggs I'm sure the surrogate will be a part of this childs life in some way even if it is with updates an things during her life. Maybe if ppl were more open to things like this we wouldn't be supporting single teen moms with 4 an 5 different daddies & these upcoming generations of children wouldn't have half the problems they do.
A little bit too old to have a baby in my opinion.....
Reply
Perhaps but she appears to be in good physical health and as long as she has a good support group, the baby will have a lot of love. Age is just a number in my opinion.
Mia..... You are a COMPLETE M O R O N!
LOLOLOL! Why would you even say such a stupid thing???? I was 41 when I had my last and I taught aerobics up until 3 weeks before giving birth. And it was my 3rd C-section. I jumped right back in as soon I was able and taught classes for the next 6 years. I don't teach any more, but am still active. It must be in my genes since my grandmother lived to be 105 and was still dancing at 102.
Grow up, you idiot.
Congratulations Michelle! You are a classy and beautiful woman. You will be a wonderful mother for this child.

Why do so many people feel the NEED to HAVE a baby? We've been married 18 years and I can't have children. It's OKAY to not have kids, it's OKAY !!
