Katherine Heigl Adopting a Baby

According to RadarOnline.com, Katherine Heigl and husband Josh Kelley are adopting a baby this week. "She and Josh are so happy," the source said.

Apparently, the couple have wanted a baby for a long time, the source said, and the adoption process has been in the works for at least six months."Katherine and Josh are adopting a baby," the actress's rep confirmed to PEOPLE.

The baby girl is from Korea. Her full name is Nayleigh, and she is approximately 10 months old.

"She is thrilled," a source close to the situation told RadarOnline.com.

Heigl is on leave of absence from 'Grey's Anatomy' and starts filming the big-screen feature 'Life As We Know It' next week.

The actress also recently hosted a baby shower for her 'Grey's' co-star Ellen Pompeo.

Actually my friend and her husband applied to adopt exactly the same time my husband and I found out we were pregnant. They got their son from Korea in 6 months time, we took the full 9+ months to get our daughter! And trust me, they are neither rich nor famous.

i wouldnt want to adopt if i am capable of having kids, but these actresses who dont want to change their body and adopt is rediculous. look at angelina, she had 3 natural and adopted also. they have the money to do so. but these women who put child bearing on the back burner learn to regret it. and dont tell me all these actresses cant have kids naturally. thats bs, they have the money to do the inviro.

Yeah, because it's better to bring another child into the world when there's already one who needs you. This "it's better to have a biological child than adopt one" idea is utter and complete crap. To say that a biological child is somehow better or more yours than an adopted child is an insult to every child who has had to wait for a home and every parent who has made a place in their heart and home for a child who otherwse wouldn't have had one. Shame on you! You do not have to give birth to a baby to be a parent.

There are plenty of children in this world who didn't ask to be here, who are already here, and who need loving parents who are able to raise them and provide for them.

Children are children. They are products of their environments. They respond to love and nurturing. If you cannot take a child into your home and love him or her unconditionally, I question your humanity.

Why are you having children? To see what you and your partners genes "look like" together? Stop being so small-minded.

"i wouldnt want to adopt if i am capable of having kids"--Why not? Do you have superior genes or something? After discovering I was sterile, we adopted. It was a long and arduous process. I thank God every day that I could not produce children, or I would not be fortunate enough to be the mother of the precious miracle I have now. (By the way, if you're planning to become a parent, please brush up on your capitalization and punctuation rules.)

Do you have any clue how much time and money Oprah gives to charities in the US? She has certainly not forgotten that charity "begins here at home." That is a silly assumption. Also, adoption is not "charity." If a person wants to adopt a child from another country that is his/her business and not for anyone to judge. Also, who are you to dictate what country on this map other people should help out in or adopt a child from? Are we not all one race of humanity put on this earth to care for and nurture one another?

Well yes she must smoke to keep her weight down to keep winning acting roles. Perhaps the smoking sdversely affected her fertility but what is most important is you white gals keep working your asses off and delay child birth until it's too late. Super-Career-Girl like Hollywood tells you to do. And when you are 80 and sick in the hospital your employees from work might visit you since you won't have any children to visit you. Wonderful life television has given you huh?

I understand the instinctual desire to have natural born children, but I don't think there's anything wrong with adopting if that's what you choose to do. At the heart of it, it's the same desire to care for and raise a children.

Furthermore, professional women are having children later in life, but that doesn't make them "too old for kids." In fact, they could very well be in a better place in their life, more financially secure, etc.

How sick does one have to be to make such a comment? Who cares white or colored? With the mixing of races, comes equality. The mixing of varied genetic pools brings stronger individuals with a lesser chance for dangerous recessive traits to express themselves. When we open the skin with a scalpel, everybody looks the same. We all bleed red, we all have yellow adipose tissue, white fascia and dark red muscles. Internal organs are all the same in shape and color. Our DNA is the same by a small fraction of a percent. People discriminating by a slight shade of skin color (or religion) are irrational, and they may very well be our downfall now that we have weapons to destroy the planet. Maybe we don't deserve to survive.
