Paula Thinks Ellen Will Be 'Gr8'

Now that the news has had a day or so to settle in, Paula Abdul is letting her feelings known about Ellen DeGeneres taking her vacant seat on the 'American Idol' judging panel. Using her Twitter, which she also used to break the news that she was leaving 'Idol,' Abdul says she wishes DeGeneres "the best of luck," and that she (prepare for Twitter/IM lingo) "will b a gr8 judge on Idol."

Abdul didn't stop there with the kind words. "She is wildly funny, talented," she said of DeGeneres.

Abdul joins the majority of PopEater readers when it comes to liking the move, according to yesterday's poll results. In an article in which we endorsed the Ellen/'Idol' move and gave our explanations why it would work, 54 percent of fans said they like the hiring initially and are sticking with their gut. Seven percent said they didn't like the fit at first, but have since changed their mind.

I really like Ellen. But I'm not sure what she knows about the music industry. I think they could have come up with someone with better credentials to be judging singing talent. But having said that, it should be entertaining.

Hey, I look forward to seeing Ellen on Idol. She knows a heck of a lot about the show business industry. She is very smart and I can't wait for her zingers at Simon. She will bring a lot of new excitement to the show...just wait and see. I kind of look at her like as one person representing the people..maybe not getting caught up in the technical stuff (and anyways the others are not always on mark there as we know) and recognizing good ole entertainment value. I do not think she will be all gushy and play Paula.

I completely agree. She thinks she can dance, Her moves are just like a childish boy, very nauseating. She should stay put at NBC. Fox you should change your decision to have this person work in 2 national network.

Why do we have to allow a queer judge in to rate someone with talent? Ellen has absolutly no talent herself, is a lesbo, nasty and has no business judging other people. Put her back in the closet where she (or it) belongs. This show is about done.

I have been wondering since I heard Ellen is going to be the 4th judge.........do you think that Simon will passionately give her a sexy kiss like he did Paula? I still think that was the sweetest and most beautiful kiss I have ever seen between two people............. I love them both!

A fraction of the public ultimately selects the winner...and determines their future success based
on talent and popularity...Although Ellen's strengths are not in the music biz, she is a successful entertainer in multiple media, therefore
able to make a contribution...She adds a softer side in contrast to Simon's direct, harder approach
to judging...This isn't rocket science, sooo some
humor is much appreciated...
I hope the show continues to be a success because it is a proven way young people can find a way to be discovered...and not just for the one going home
with the title.
