A Michael Jackson tribute concert planned for later this month in Vienna has been postponed to next year in London. Had a judge allowed it, the Austrian concert would have provided Chris Brown with his first real chance for a comeback.
If Chris should wait for the Jackson concert to perform publicly, he should know that stepping back into the spotlight could be a way to put the Rihanna incident behind him in the public eye. Getting out there actually works! Brown just needs to take a page out of the playbook of these other graduates of the school for scandal.
· Despite the release of racy pics of then 15-year old Miley Cyrus in 2008, the singer starlet sucked it up and hosted the Teen Choice Awards a week later fully dressed with a smile on her face.
· After Hugh Grant got busted for getting friendly with sex worker Divine Brown on the Sunset strip in 1995 he appeared on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno with a jokey confessional about the incident saying, "I did a bad thing."
· Paul Reubens, aka Pee-wee Herman, opened the MTV Video Music Awards in 1991, shortly after his arrest at a Florida adult movie theater for indecent exposure. Reubens channeled his alter ego by putting on his famous Pee-wee suit and asked everyone: "Heard any good jokes lately?" The crowd went wild.
·George Michael laughed about his 1998 arrest for "engaging in a lewd act in a public toilet in the first single off his subsequent album, 'Outside.' The song was a parody about soliciting a policeman in a public restroom.
· A month after pleading guilty to misdemeanor assault for accosting a hotel employee with a phone, Russell Crowe took the stage at the Australian Film Industry Awards in Melbourne carrying an old fashioned phone. "If there are any problems and you do get up here and go on too long, then 'hello' to my little friend," Crowe, 41, jokingly warned the audience.
Of course, none of these success stories may matter when it comes to Brown. In a PopEater and Life & Style poll last April, 59 percent of our 42,000+ voters said Brown's future in music was permanently damaged.
All violence is wrong, but it is a difference between a man striking a women with an open hand or a closed fist. Both are criminal but hitting a woment with a closed fist is a felony. Chris Brown will only be vidicated after anybody kicks his but. Oh, that right, some violence is wrong. I WILL ALWAYS BOYCOTT CHRIS BROWN, HE IS A MONSTER AND HE WILL HIT ANOTHER WOMEN.....SOON.
I agree, while it IS possible to change, he hasn't been tested yet, and it is far far too soon to accept him back with open arms. I love Jermaine Jackson, but I don't know WHAT the heck he was thinking inviting Chris Brown do do a tribute to Michael, who was so sweet and non-violent. I was very disappointed with that choice! I wouldn't watch if Chris Brown was in it, that is how much what he did to that beautiful woman Rhianna, disgusts me. Maybe after treatment and psychotherapy and a few years, he can come back, but now is far too premature.
Sorry, but I honestly don't think that Chris Brown assaulting his girlfirend is just a typical Hollywood scandal. It's definetely not the same as Pewee masturbating in a public theatre. People should be more concerned about Rihanna's recovery than Chris Brown's return to the spotlight. If he doesn't make as much money next year I think that's a good thing. If violence isn't worth boycotting over then what is?
Anyone capable, be it drunk, under the influence of drugs, or sober, of committing that degree of violence upon another is a risk to society. That will never change unless Chris maintains years of intensive counceling. Even with that, he is a high risk of committing a violent act upon another woman. He has serious, deep problems. Most people, under the influence of the above mentioned substances, would not be capable of inflicting such violence on another person. Sorry Chris, but you have to deal with the truth. How bad does he really want to be safe? He will accept his deep-seeded psychological problem and get intense therapy for as long as it takes to be a safe person. It doesn't matter how Chris "caught" his illness. What matters is that his illness is properly treated. All we hear is how eager he is to get back into the "scene." We don't hear about how he's treating his serious illness and we definitely do not hear about what he's learned about his illness. He says he is "sorry." Does that say anything at all about his awareness of his psychological illness? He still sounds very ill.
Keep in mind only haters cant forgive Chris Brown is very talented and very young give him a break what he did is wrong remember people hate out of envy. To forgive is divine.
Ophra get over your self remember you had a baby at 14 you did crack/coke but you turn your life around and we forgave you instead of getting on your soap box about Chris Brown you should have reach out to him as a young man in need of help when you needed help with your school he steped up to the plate but when he needed your help all you seem to care about was your ratings What Chris Brown did is wrong but he is a very young man who needs your help
Yes, I have always had my doubts concerning Oprah. With her past, I question her abuse claims. Has that ever been proven? I just find those that are on others, have the most to hide. It is obvious at an early age she was in the scene, so it does raise questions.
For all of the people who say that Chris Brown is a horrible person. First of all, yes it is wrong for a man to hit a woman. It is also wrong for a woman to hit a man. Which Rihanna did also. Their situation is not just a case of abuse, it is a case of violence. The only reason that Rihanna told on Chris in the first place is because she was mad at him for leaving her in the street and wanting to get back at him. Both are victims in this situation. No one should stay in a violent relationship. How would everyone had reacted of there were pics of him scratched up and he said Rhianna did it? There may not be pics, but I'd bet anything that he had scratches and bruises too. He was 19 and she was 20. They are both young enough to learn from this and move on positively. I think we need to give him a chance. After all, it's Rihanna who's been disobeying the court rules and sneaking off to be with him. If she's not worried for her safety, why should we be? Now if this unfortunate situation happens again....well just pray for them both.
I agree with you wylotry. I think everyone needs to remember 3 things.
1) IT'S NONE OF OUR BUSINESS. 2) Chris Brown is only human, and as such will make mistakes. It's only natural to lose your cool and let your emotions get the best of you. Rihanna admitted to hitting him repeatedly over whatever their dispute was. I don't know about anyone else, but after someone is hitting me over and over, it's only a matter of time before I knock the crap out of them! I admit, he over did a bit. If he had hit her once or twice, and then realized what he was doing, and stopped, I definitely would have understood, but he did go waaaay too far! Which brings me to #3.
3) Who the hell are all of us to pass judgement?! Who are we to condemn him? Nobody. For all you perfect people that have never done ANYTHING wrong, I'm pretty sure me and Chris are on the same page. You know where and what you can kiss! Him and Rihanna have come to terms, and it never has and never will involve any of us. We need to do the one thing American's can't do, Mind Our Own Damn Business!
You seem to be forgetting there is an uneven distribution of physical strength between a man and a women. Most men are physically stronger than a woman; and therefore can do more physical harm in a violent situation. Rihanna hitting Chris is not the same as Chris hitting Rihanna. There is no double standard here - these are just the facts. As for the person who said we should not judge - well, imagine if Rihanna was your daughter, sister, mother, or just someone really close to you. Would that still be your response? If so, then I am happy I do not have people like you in my circle of loved ones. We should judge, because violence against women is becoming more and more prevalent; and it is happening to women at a younger and younger age. This is not, however, an opportunity to keep casting stones at Chris. We should be taking this as a wake up call to create more awareness to this problem and start educating our children at younger ages to use other alternatives to deal with our anger. TEACH AND PREACH AGAINST VIOLENCE!!!
He'll come back. American society idoizes all these actors, musicians and sports celebs for their their little transgressions. Drugs, rape, violence, dog fighting, adultery, tax evasion, sex tapes, child abuse; all no big deal.
Jomah5004: WHAT DO YOU HAVE AGAINST THOSE POOR PENGUINS? THEY ARE WONDERFUL, FAMILY-ORIENTED ANIMALS WHO ARE TRYING TO SURVIVE IN SPITE OF THE WORST ELEMENTS --- THEY DON'T NEED THIS GUY ON TOP OF EVERYTHING ELSE. HAVE SOME COMPASSION (FOR THE PENGUINS, OF COURSE)!
First thing first, there have been other abuse with many stars, the only thing happen is no picture was leaked to the press for profit, Ryan O' Neal abuse not only Farrah but his children too and yet when Farrah was dying he was interview on every major network confessing his love for her, Tommy Lee, Gene Simmons,Josh Brolin, Christian Slater women abusers etc. Christian Bale was arrested the night of the preview of Dark Knight and post bail and was released in time to stand on the red carpet, his mother and sister later dropped the charges but... I womder why? This year he was back in the news for verbally abusing a co-worker on the film he was working on, seem like he need some therapy also, if you were to research and see just how many of our stars have been arrested and charge with abuse maybe you would cut Chris some slack, I don't understand at all what is going on with people wanting his career to be over he's a youngman who may a mistake and he's going to serve what the court deemed fit for him. I wish there were just as many comments about the man who raped the four year old and was given probation... we waste our energy on the wrong things, no matter how many polls are taken, comments are left his career will continue on, Michael Jackson's did , oh I know he's know MJ but... some of you same people I'm sure had a lot to say about him when he was facing his charges, calling Wacko Jacko etc, but... he kept right on going. Maybe that is why the Jackson family want him to be a part of the tribute, they have been there!
