While most film and TV scripts are closely guarded secrets, it's hard to stay super top secret when you are filming in the middle of America's most populous city. Thus, that's the challenge for the makers of the 'Sex and the City' sequel which is filming somewhere in NYC right now, and because the movie is out in the open, the rumor and spoiler mill is fiercely buzzing.

When we last left the fearsome foursome, Big and Carrie had gotten married after all, this time in a smaller, private wedding, instead of a public spectacle. Charlotte was happily married to Harry and gives birth to a sister to her adopted daughter. Samantha had beaten cancer and broken up with her hot boyfriend, Smith, and has moved from Malibu to New York. And Miranda had reconciled with Steve, after learning he cheated on her. By the end, they are all one big happy family again.
But movies can't happen without conflict. Here's what we know about the sequel, gleaned from the Interwebs (what did people do before the Interwebs, we wonder?) Major spoiler alert. Major.
--Release Date: May 28, 2010. Just in time to kick off the summer.
--There's some sort of 80s flashback scene. Stylist Patricia Field must be having a ball. Photos of Kim Cattrall (Samanatha) and Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie) have surfaced of the twosome looking kind of fearsome. Cattrall was sporting a big frizzed out punky do', skin tight leopard print jeans, a denim vest, and red-hot ankle boots. (Funny, we'd probably wear that outfit, today). And Carrie's been spotted looking rather Flashdancey, with an off-the-shoulder top and a curly fro. She also apparently went through a Madonna circa-Desperately Seeking Susan phase (tutu, tights, black rubber bracelets, all present and accounted for). Charlotte is, of course, tried-and-true preppy, with the sweater over the shoulders.
--Love and Marriage... For Stanford? Carrie's gay BFF Stanford (Willie Garson) may be the next one at the altar. And he's marrying another favorite of the ladies, Anthony Marentino (Mario Cantone), the event planner who helped Charlotte pick out her wedding dress. The rumored performer is none other than Liza Minelli. (Of course!)
--Big having money trubs? One of the rumored plot lines is that the Carrie-Big union is having trouble, but this time it's due to money, not love. The businessman's money problems threaten Carrie's ability to buy an endless supply of Manolos (Does anyone know what he actually does?). He moves to London where he lives in a one bedroom apartment.
--Carrie's Preggers? In the midst of the money crisis, Carrie might also be pregnant. Will she be able to carry a baby wearing those six-inch stilettos? --Exotic Locales Reports are bubbling that some scenes will be shot in the Mediterranean, specifically Morocco, where it is reported that Big will be trying to recoup his busted finances.
--Samantha is menopausal? Will Samantha's insatiable sexual appetite be slowed by the "change"? One report has her discussing with an assistant, a "testosterone run" to the pharmacy. (Ladies in the midst of menopause frequently turn to the hormone for relief for hot flashes and to heat up their waning sex drive.)
--Harry's a cheater? Say It Ain't So. Harry keeps disappearing, leading Charlotte to suspect that he's cheating; but, the big surprise is that he's actually been seeing a contractor to build Charlotte her dream princess palace. We love Harry.
--Miranda Switches Careers? The tough-nosed legal eagle Miranda might be dumping her high-powered career for a shared dream with Steve: opening a pizza parlor. First, a baby, then Brooklyn, now pizza pies. Miranda, my how you've changed!
--New Faces. Reports of English actor Max Ryan joining the cast have fueled whispers that Samantha is going to get a new lover. His character is a European architect named Rikard. Intriguing. In addition to Liza, it's been reported that Miley Cyrus will have a cameo.
Big's money problems were hinted to in the last movie with a shot of a Time magazine front page cover about the collapsing American economy. The rest of the new story line sounds more tailored for a TV movie then a big screen one.The truth is the gals are getting older and so is the story. This sounds like a good movie to wait for when it comes out in DVD.
I caught all of SATC on HBO and have collected all of the DVDs. I love these crazy gals and the way that they relate to one another.
I'm hearing impaired, so viewing in a movie theater is difficult for me ... the DVDs have closed-captioning AND the ability to back-up-and-replay. So I'm waiting for their next DVD, oh yeah!
Just a thought--could they not have found a designer who at least had some sense of style?? The wardrobe shots I have seen are atrocious. If I was an actress in this movie I would have refused to wear that bunch of trashy looking clothes. I mean, most of what I have seen looks like something out of a rag bag.
Personally I have had enough of SATC. When it was on HBO it was in a sense a first of it's kind and it touched on a lot of issues, but after awhile it became sillier and sillier, and very unrealistic. Now they have the nerve to be coming at with part 2???
I was a fan of the series and enjoyed watching the movie. However, it was obvious re: Carries' pregnancy to come. I would rather see Samantha with that situation and then realizing that she really wants to be with Smith and settle down. I guess I'm just a romantic at heart.
Just Love SATC! Have all the DVD's including the Movie. I watch all the re-runs too. My friends and I can't wait till the movie comes out next May. It will be a great time together. The only thing that bugs me is Carrie's wardrobe. Just terrible. Her wedding gown in the last movie was horribly disfigured when she stuck that stupid Bird on her head!!!
These gals are getting too old for the theme of this show, movie, whatever you want to call it. SJP was a real turnoff in the show, trying to act coquette-ish and sexy, when there's nothing sexy about her. Now she's older and not aging well, so it's even harder to pull off. I think this show has run its course. Let it die a somewhat dignified death.
I totally agree with you, Lara. You said exactly what I was thinking, when the show began the women were years younger, shouldn't they be settling down and having families? the trailers i've seen seem silly and not even set in NY. I thougt that the city of new york was a main character of the show.
As they started out on HBO, I use to watch it every week, then I got the SATC DVD box set for x-mas 3 yrs ago. I watched everyone like a million times, then went and saw the movie, I was kinda unhappy about the movie, I was wishing it was like the series but it wasn't. But bought the movie anyways and watched it a few times w/ my girlfriends. The Girls on the set are kinda getting a lil old. And now a 2nd movie?? I will watch it, but I can't see to where its gonna be great! they should just hang it up already!! I do and still love the series, It is and always have been my favorite!! But enough is enough already!
What a silly mommy! Katie Holmes takes Suri into the water in her clothes as the two spend the afternoon at the beach in Miami. More of Today's Hottest Photos
