In the first half ot the VMA's night of performances, Lady Gaga took over the stage just like she'd been promising. She began her performance lying in the middle of the floor of an aristocratic and extravagant set, surrounded by dancers scantily clad in white. Slowly, and almost operatically, Gaga launched into a powerful arrangement of 'Poker Face,' and transitioned into her hit, 'Paparazzi.' Watch after the jump.Not unlike Madonna and her infamous 'Like a Virgin' VMA show from two and a half decades ago, Gaga sang, danced and passionately flung herself about the stage. Channeling her cabaret and theater background, Gaga effectively used the same 'death by love' concept from the 'Paparazzi' video in the performance.
Showing off real vocal skill and putting on quite the graphic spectacle, the act culminated in Gaga hanging from the ceiling and smeared in fake blood. Now that's theatrics.
Gaga's had been hyped up by blogger Perez Hilton, who had described her performance as "next-level." Gaga herself had said, " I can't wait to go to the awards show and hopefully kick some ass."

Really? Are all you guys messed up in the head? Because i think talentless is far from what she is. Shes probably one of the few singers nowadays that actually sings! you guess are just pissed that shes so big, and she can wear whatever the hell she wants while doing it. Call it trashy if you will, but shes making more money then all of you, and has way more talent then any of you people on here. And by the way, if you guys hate her, then why are you even watching her video? I dont go around looking for miley cyrus videos just so i can comment on how horrible they are. And for those of you that are a little thick, the point of her song is that fame kills. Hence the blood and the frantic sound in her voice towards the end :]

Lady Gaga is a young girl who has a killer voice and is extremely theatrical. She dares to go to an extreme risking it all and I give her credit for that. You go Lady Gaga!
I personally love Lady Gaga. I think she is a visionary and is the next big thing in music. More and more musicians are going to electronica and I believe LG is the first person to do this with absolute class. Keep on!

Her voice is interesting in an opera sort of way but she reminds me of "Blossom" in lingerie. I can't get past that nose to see the rest of the face no matter how cute the hats, the outfits or how dark the make up is.

As much as I don't care for Madonna, she is talented and has obviously done something right this year. This Lady Gaga should not be compared to her at all, she is talentless and I think she is disgusting for doing a "show" like that for the music awards. She will be as memorable as Britney.

wow. you people have absolutely no musical or theatrical knowledge whatsoever. this performance was brilliant, not only in it's style, but in its execution, as well. and i'm not a fan --- i have never seen Lady Gaga perform before. i wanted to see what all the fuss was about, and she really delivered. she actually SANG.... no lip lynching here, folks! who the hell cares what her physical attributes are? shows how shallow and clueless you really are. it's about the music, people. Bravo, Lady Gaga. Bravo!!!!!
