Lady Gaga's Performance Kills, Literally

In the first half ot the VMA's night of performances, Lady Gaga took over the stage just like she'd been promising. She began her performance lying in the middle of the floor of an aristocratic and extravagant set, surrounded by dancers scantily clad in white. Slowly, and almost operatically, Gaga launched into a powerful arrangement of 'Poker Face,' and transitioned into her hit, 'Paparazzi.' Watch after the jump.

Not unlike Madonna and her infamous 'Like a Virgin' VMA show from two and a half decades ago, Gaga sang, danced and passionately flung herself about the stage. Channeling her cabaret and theater background, Gaga effectively used the same 'death by love' concept from the 'Paparazzi' video in the performance.

Showing off real vocal skill and putting on quite the graphic spectacle, the act culminated in Gaga hanging from the ceiling and smeared in fake blood. Now that's theatrics.

Gaga's had been hyped up by blogger Perez Hilton, who had described her performance as "next-level." Gaga herself had said, " I can't wait to go to the awards show and hopefully kick some ass."

This sucked. It is a horrible performance and her outfits are just as bad. I like her songs but that is about it.

Her so-called singing is dreadful. This hag can't sing and uses dry humping to get attention. Maybe she/he and kuntye will get together. Both would do anything for attention.

the message I got was ....papparazzi ...and just what effect it could and can have on some entertainers ...and was a mocked suicide (thank heavens) but its still no excuse for alcohol or drug addiction so many fall victim too ! But thats my take on her performance...and I do agree the paparazzi are out of control and needs certain limits & restrictions ...regarding entertainers....today entertainers ...perhaps tomorrow ...washington will be swarming with hidden secret videos of politicians eh ? then maybe somebody will act ?

hahaa this performance was just wrong. When i watched me jaw dropped it sucked that bad!! My 18 mth old daughter saw the beggining of it and saw those bunny looking ears on her pointed to her and said "doggie" hahah i almost died laughing

Lady ga-ga is absolutely astounding. Who ever stated she has no talent is pretty ignorant. Weather or not you like her physical attributes, this does not take away from the fact that she is a piano player and a damn good one at that.

Not to mention her voice is INCREDIBLE. Ciara, Keri Hilson, Pink, dont run around dancing singing and sound so damn clear and powerful. She is a weirdo. Ok.but I cant help to be completely in love with her!! She dares to be different and people cant handle it. LAdy Ga-ga you are amazing. I'd be your groupie anyday.

as far as cross gender like that runner...and bi-sexuality running rampant throughout our youth many are now into blood & stuff too ..pain -piercings-tatoo's and a couple of other sex stunts I wont mention cause I dont want to give ideas ....did we lose them or are they rebelling & running out of control ? I would have to say that Lady GaGa's performance was good yet disturbing. I was kinda speechless after it, and im still kinda speechless now...lol

This was not a bad performance. It was rather unique. I do think the performance was a bit on the the theatrical, however, I have not seen many videos of the other performances circulating on the internet so she must have did it right.

Very creative indeed, I think she was sending a message about how fanatical some Paparazzi can get, and how some of the crazy fans are egged on by all the coverage thus potentially placing them in danger by not respecting their privacy for the most part.

I have the utmost respect for this woman. (and yes, SHE is a WOMAN- despite the ignorant stupid rumors) She went to COLLEGE and did drama and theater as well as composed MANY songs for a lot of hit artists. She finally came out with her own album and blew away any competition.
Her performance was fantastic as it was dramatic and creative.
Let's see Britney or any other little teeny bopper hit do this live as well as be incredibly theatrical and dancing at the same time.
I bet99% of you would have a heart attack in the first few lines of the song if you attempted this.

As for her nose, she is Italian and I believe it gives her character. Who the hell wants to look like every other Britney knock off out there? Hell no!
