Lady Gaga's Performance Kills, Literally

In the first half ot the VMA's night of performances, Lady Gaga took over the stage just like she'd been promising. She began her performance lying in the middle of the floor of an aristocratic and extravagant set, surrounded by dancers scantily clad in white. Slowly, and almost operatically, Gaga launched into a powerful arrangement of 'Poker Face,' and transitioned into her hit, 'Paparazzi.' Watch after the jump.

Not unlike Madonna and her infamous 'Like a Virgin' VMA show from two and a half decades ago, Gaga sang, danced and passionately flung herself about the stage. Channeling her cabaret and theater background, Gaga effectively used the same 'death by love' concept from the 'Paparazzi' video in the performance.

Showing off real vocal skill and putting on quite the graphic spectacle, the act culminated in Gaga hanging from the ceiling and smeared in fake blood. Now that's theatrics.

Gaga's had been hyped up by blogger Perez Hilton, who had described her performance as "next-level." Gaga herself had said, " I can't wait to go to the awards show and hopefully kick some ass."

Lady Gaga gave an entertaining performance. Filled with TALENT. But I guess since she is not from the United States and does not do the same ol boring stuff she is considered a hack. SHe can sing and do so very well and hmm maybe she makes you think and look at things differently is that such a bad thing. I love those that dare to be different and unique.

Lady Gaga has a spectacular voice. She is attempting to be a "vocal" Lee Bowery - and she is succeeding! She is not only into performance art - she writes and sings her own songs. Give her a break!! Why is everyone so judgmental???? She reminds me of a combination of Boy George and Cher - both of whom I LOVE. And...no... I'm not gay... just open-minded.

Lady Gaga can sing. She can dance. She plays several instruments. She writes her own songs. But the reason she's so marvelous to watch is because she's an original and doesn't hesitate to push the envelope. Most singers today sound alike, act alike, and perform alike. You can't say that Lady Gaga is like anyone else. I think she is a fantastic showman, and I can't wait to see what she will do next.

Anyone who doesn't like this is an absolute idoit like kayne west. Lady Gaga is not only creative and new but she has a truck load of talent. If you didn't get the message of the song why do you even try to listen to music? All music has a message and if it doesn't it's crap. She had the will to be different and dress how she did and to bleed on stage in front of millions of people. The fact that she could do this when noboby on this site or any other site would do it proves how great she is. this is why we have entertainers and regular people on websites like this and others. She was herself and people are just mad because they have to change themselves to be around "people" or "friends". If you ever have to change yourself for others you are so fake. So get over yourselves haters because Lady Gaga is taking the world by storm and rightly so!!!

But that's just it. I think it's obvious she's faking her whole 'whimsical image', which is something someone like Michael Jackson *was*, he didn't have to pretend to be different. And maybe she's doing it all as a big joke, but so what? Gaga, unlike Michael, doesn't come across as charming so much as vulgar.

And there's plenty of vulgarity among pop culture as it is, that's hardly 'original'.

I personally can't stand any of her singles besides this one and even then the ridiculous make-out scene in the beginning of her music video damn near ruins it completely.

I mean, that's gross and raunchy, no one needs or wants to see that, especially kids.

Where is the class, where is the beautiful? Where is the love without the sex? The best have it, I'm not sure Lady Gaga does.

this is not the best perfromance ive seen her in, i will admit. but she is great as an acoustic live artist, watching those make me realize how much musical talent she has. every time i see her outfits or performances, i consider it art. ( more of the underground type though ) although she is weird, she is still not any weirder than the people i know. and if you think about it really shes not that weird.(Really have you been on 4chan lately?)

These shameful and ignorant comments only go to show the people making them are inartistic, poorly educated, and just pain sad. If you listen to the lyrics it speaks about how fanatic love will follow you no matter what is happening to you. She displayed this in artistic representation with the fallen chandelier, the wheel chair, the crutch, then being shot, then hanging dead while the fanatics where sill obsessing. The message is that fanatics will follow you no matter what. Thus the paparazzi... Please people when you have no idea what your talking about keep you mouth shut and your opinions to yourself. You only make yourselves look uneducated and ignorant.

wow, who are the miserable people reading this blog? to say you were not entertained by this performance, i just feel sorry. its pop. its theater, and its the most exciting performance i've ever seen on cable television. and to equate her looks (and nose) with the quality of her performance? just ridiculous. congratulations on being miserable.

Beyonce mainly called Talor up due to the fact that everyone boooed the situation at hand putting Beyonce in a position of having to turn it back around. Don't get me wrong, I admired her for doing so, but i'm sure at some point, it was advised that she do something positive.
