Lady Gaga's Performance Kills, Literally

In the first half ot the VMA's night of performances, Lady Gaga took over the stage just like she'd been promising. She began her performance lying in the middle of the floor of an aristocratic and extravagant set, surrounded by dancers scantily clad in white. Slowly, and almost operatically, Gaga launched into a powerful arrangement of 'Poker Face,' and transitioned into her hit, 'Paparazzi.' Watch after the jump.

Not unlike Madonna and her infamous 'Like a Virgin' VMA show from two and a half decades ago, Gaga sang, danced and passionately flung herself about the stage. Channeling her cabaret and theater background, Gaga effectively used the same 'death by love' concept from the 'Paparazzi' video in the performance.

Showing off real vocal skill and putting on quite the graphic spectacle, the act culminated in Gaga hanging from the ceiling and smeared in fake blood. Now that's theatrics.

Gaga's had been hyped up by blogger Perez Hilton, who had described her performance as "next-level." Gaga herself had said, " I can't wait to go to the awards show and hopefully kick some ass."

Lady GaGa is a train wreck... you cant take your eyes off her only bc she has no talent and she is a hot hot mess... that was a horriable performace... but got to hand it to her she always have you thinking "oh god what next...?" and that is how she sells her self and i guess it works...

But who ever is putting those outfits on her should make them a little bigger... I am sick of looking at the damn camel toe... gross

I am so glad that my children was not watching her lastnight. My child like to listen to some of her music but after what she done lastnight I dont know if I will allow them to even listen to her music anymore. With all the kids killing people and Kids killing themseleves I can not beleive she done that. I feel that us GROWN UPS need to set examples for the younger. Being an awards show I feel that she should have never done that.

That was pretty cool. It's nice to see someone actually perform 'Art' instead of just another hip hop jam. Really tired of all these "Artists" who can't sing, can't write, and can't produce their own music, or even perform.

For some reason, watch this, all I could think of was "Michael Jackson". She kind of gives off that vibe of a very passionate and amazing performer...

If you find this appauling, you obviously have NO idea what art is, symbolic expression, or metaphors, and need to really check yourself into a high school to learn these things.

if you actually think about it. the song is about PAPARAZZI!!! why do you think there was the blood and the death at the end??? because its about them and how it leads to death. which is very true in many cases... Princess Diane, she was killed by paparazzi too... i dont like lady gaga or her music but her song has a great outview to life for celebs and the same with her performance. i think she did a damn great job.
