Kanye Apologizes For Swift Debacle... But Is It Too Late?
By PopEater Staff Posted Sep 14th 2009 07:33AM
Kanye West is "SOOOOO SORRY" for interrupting Taylor Swift at Sunday's VMAs. "I'm in the wrong for going on stage and taking away from her moment," he wrote. "Beyonce's video was the best of this decade . . . I'm sorry to my fans if I let you guys down . . . I'm sorry to my friends at MTV . . . I will apologize to Taylor," he wrote on his official blog. But celebrities are lashing out at the 'Stronger' singer for stealing Swift's moment. And judging by the photos below, it seems Kanye had a bit of liquid encouragement prior to his controversial crash.

"F--k u Kanye. It's like you stepped on a kitten," singer Katy Perry wrote on her Twitter during the show.

"I'm still very happy for Taylor," West wrote. "I really feel bad for Taylor and I'm sincerely sorry," West added.
Swift is taking it all in stride and still a little shocked by the whole ordeal. "I was standing on stage and I was really excited because I'd just won the award and then I was really excited because Kanye West was on stage," Swift said after the show to PEOPLE. "And then I wasn't excited anymore after that."
What's left now is to see if there's any major impact on West's career. Tracey Ford, editor of the hip-hop site The Boombox, says that Kanye isn't down for the count.
"Considering Kanye has already built a reputation as a loose cannon, I doubt his fans will turn against him for this debacle. As far as artists are concerned, Kanye would be the one person who could get away with a tirade like this without harming his career," says Ford.

"It's certainly not the first time the he has lost his cool. It's almost his M.O. at this point. The entertainment industry may not forgive him for this particular rant, but Kanye has been the artist/rapper people love to hate for awhile now." More on West's Backstage Drama From Boombox >>>

Kanye is an idiot, let's hope he just does away!!
I have long felt that Kanye was disgusting even though I felt bad for him when he lost his mom. After I saw how he and Jay-Z decided to take down Chris Brown after the Rhianno fiasco. As a grandmother, I absolutely do not approve of domestic abuse. However, I firmly believe that there is more to the story than is being told. They jumped on that teenager and decided to ruin his career even before the facts came out. He is horrible, Jay-Z is a drug dealer and beating up women is part of the game of drug dealers. We won't hear from any of the women because they probably paid them. The video that says "I own this town" is such a slap in the face and hopefully they will come to know they they don't own anything. Kanye is finished, Jay-Z is next and hopefully Rhianna will soon follow with her pathetic self. Why doesn't she say what precipatated the beating. I bet she jumped on him in a jealous rage after someone sent him a text. Hell hath no fury like a ego driven rock star. To hell with the three stooges
West was way out of line for the second time and should be bared from future award shows and fined about $250K ... believe me ... there is another West waiting in the wings to bring a Jerry Springer mentality to what is intended to be a night to honor those deserving ... do I agree with all the winners? of course not but if it's fans voting - accept it ... if it's the piers voting - accetpt it ... Management of the award shows themselves are the only one's that can control it .... if they choose to ride the popularity of bad behavior the quality of the show and industry suffers ... maybe if advertisers pull out it would get their attention ....
Leave the man alone...He lost his mom, who was his true love and support..He is greiving, and struggling..We all face the same issues.Leave the man alone..It has nothing to do with his ability as an artist...What;s in your closet ???
How long will Kanye's backlash last? This is probably the end of it. Now, if a White person had jumped on stage and grabbed the mic from a Black person, and threw a fit because another White person they liked didn't win, that person would probably never work in the entertainment industry again. For good, bad or ugly... that's the way it works.
Perhaps these shows should begin placing a security team around the stage to keep idiots from jumping up on it and causing trouble.

Anonymous,
I didn't make the unspoken, social "race rules", and I don't play by them. Reverse racism is a crock. Racism is racism. Period. But we have a long way to go in grace and respect. And when I say we, I mean ALL races toward ALL OTHER races... ALL OVER THE WORLD.
Do you mean the way some whites are upset because President Obama won the election over McCain and now iddiot senators are interrupting the presidents speech by calling him a liar? How upset were you over that? Why are you not upset when red neck thugs insult our president?
Sad, but true. There's not a prejudice bone in my body, but I agree with your statement. There is a different standard accepted depending on your color. I hope he realizes he presents himself in a way that will leave him lonely one day. Eventually, people just get tired of stupidity. ANYONE who is arrogant enough to believe his own opinion to be more valuable than others, to the point of hurting an innocent child, will eventually alienate even their friends. Hope he figures it out before it's too late. He's just sad.
No no no, you're so wrong...We all know that's the other way around...That's why the media is crying like a little girl today ! let's get real here: if it was a white man acting like that idiot of Kanye, on a black woman the media and + would not make such a big drama...White men put black people in jail for less than that...Welcome to America
I agree, Beyonce just proved once more she is a classy lady. Many kudos to her for her beautiful gesture towards Taylor.
This is a personality disorder, not a skin color disorder. Kanye West is a sick man, filled with hatred and he needs help. As for all of the opinions about "what if the offender had been white, speaking against a black person," I am asking you all to get off of that "pity poor us" train and see it for what it is. This is not about skin color. It's about arrogance and I challenge all black people to stop wasting energy on yesterday and look forward to a bright future for all who live by the "Golden Rule." Remember that one? Treat others as you would have them treat you. There is no other way to peace!! For ANY of us!
Thousands of people wil die today all over the world; all races, religions, genders and ages will be represented. Many these people will die because of their race, religion, gender or age; very few of them will be Americans. And yet, we Americans harpoon each other because a young, talentless, over indulged idiot acted out his destiny, because he is all of the above.
We got people in other countries building weapons to kill ALL Americans. These people don't care if you are white or black because to them all Americans are no good. People wake up because if America continue to be divided we are going to die to the hands of our enemies.
I TOTALLY DISAGREE IF IT WAS A WHITE PERSON DOING THE SAME THING EXCUSES WOULD'VE BEEN MADE OF WHY IT TOOK PLACE I AGREE HE WAS WRONG BUT HELLO GET OVER IT HE MADE AN ASS OUT OF HIMSELF ONLY HIM NOT ALL BLACKS I KEEP HEARING ALL THESE BAD THINGS ABOUT HIM BEING GHETTO AND THE LIST GOES ON. WHAT HES DONE DOES NOT ADD UP TO WHAT WEVE ENDURED OVER THE YEARS! SO WHOEVER HAS ANYTHING BAD TO SAY CAN GET A LIFE!
Kanye is typical of the environment, he feels empowered and ENTITLED because he is represented like he's never been represented before. Kanye isn't color blind and in many aspects neither is his hero or his hero's wife; and for those of you who'd argue about this being a race thing, who was the last white guy to jump on the stage saying a black artist wasn't worthy.
This is going to hurt his career bigtime. He will be lucky if he doesn't get ousted, banned by the rest of the industry. Being drunk,or pretending to be, is no excuse. Poor security is no excuse. Common sense and decorum says ya just don't hop up on stage and steal someone's moment. I say, boycott Kanye. See how long he lasts in arrogance before he learns humility. Hit him in his pocketbook, then perhaps he will realize that there are more talanted individuals that the type of musicians he likes. He needs to be turned down a few notches.

This seems so typical of West. No class. And Beyonce sitting there smiling the whole time. She thinks she is all that and she's not. She comes across to me as someone who thinks she is the queen. Poor Taylor. At least she has class.

This guy is soooo classless, I still don't understand the so called talent he has. Swift and Beyonce showed a lot of class, true divas.
Beyonce was not smiling (as in laughing) the whole time. If you watch the video closely, she is appalled and shocked - you can read lips her saying "Oh my god!" With a look of incredulity on her face. She had to have been embarrased as well! In the end, she shared her spotlight with grace, empathy, and true showmanship to a fellow entertainer. Beyonce, a classy lady!
RL - what were you watching. I thought Beyonce looked horrified, and her actions later when she called Taylor back on stage to finish her acceptance speech, spoke volumes. kanye (the little k is on purpose for a very small man with a very small mind) did not speak for her. I could not even identify a name of a kanye song, don't know him, don't wanna know him. Obviously he is a racist. Many people on here have said how he hates white people. I don't believe a word of his apology. This is probably the most publicity he's gotten in a long time.
