With his passing, many Patrick Swayze fans are looking back at his greatest film achievements. His 'Ghost' co-stars are doing the same, with messages of grief referencing their collaboration.
"Patrick you are loved by so many and your light will forever shine in all of our lives," Demi Moore wrote on her Twitter feed. "In the words of Sam to Molly: 'It's amazing Molly. The love inside, you take it with you.' I will miss you."
Whoopi Goldberg, whose portrayal of a con artist playing a medium won her an Oscar, released a statement, lauding Swayze as a "really good man."
She continued, calling her friend "a funny man and one to whom I owe much that I can't ever repay. I believe in Ghost's message, so he'll always be near."
In March, Golberg told her 'View' cohorts she owed her Oscar to Swayze. According to the actress, producers were reluctant to casting her, but he said, "I'm not making this movie unless you put Whoopi Goldberg in there."
"When I won my Academy Award, the only person I really thanked was Patrick," Goldberg recalled.

Patrick was one the best actors.I'm soooooooooooo sorry he has passed. i love he's movies (Ghost, Diry Dancing, Road House ...many more .) we will miss Him. To Lisa , thinking of you in sympathy, and with time , may quiet memories help to ease your sorrow. You have a Angle in heaven, we all do ;) DEEPEST SYMPATHY to all family.
Our condolences to the entire Swayze family. I have all of his movies and enjoyed everyone of them. I look at it that the Lord needed Patrick so he can teach the rest of the angles to dance...Your in our prayers Lisa**
Aww, I was sad to read this story this morning! Last I heard he was doing well, and I had hoped for a miracle as others have stated. I am glad his family was with him when he passed. We truly need more angles in Heaven with the way the world is heading. Rest in Peace/pain free Patrick! We love you! My prayers go out to your family.
I had lost my wife to pancreatic cancer 3 and 1/2 months ago. She was diagnost with it the end of January, by this time it was stage 4 and aready in her liver. we hadtried the only thing we could and that was chemo. One treat and she developed a rash and that was it, no more treatments. We instead decided to go for quality of life. We made it till end of April then she was at a point were it became a daily battle just to make the day.
So I know first hand what this can do to the human body and spirit.
She had love watching Patrick in all his movies. Ghost was her favorite.
Patrick Swayze was responsible for the cruel torture of all the males of my generation. How many men out there have been forced to watch Dirty Dancing or Ghost multiple times. Patrick, "we forgive you." After all, you did make Road House and Uncommon Valour. Those were two kick ass movies!!!
Patrick was i very good actor.and very simple person with class.i hope he is in a better place.its is so sad for his family.but when it's time to go.is nothing we can do..you can have a mission house alot of money.but all stays behind.the only thing we take with was,is the good and bad things we did here.he was a good man.but some of the actors they think they all up there because they have money and a nice house.they don't want nobody to even say hi to them.what a mistake.when we die we all the same.
You were an angel amongst us here on earth in so many ways. It is now your turn to walk next to God and be an angel looking down upon all of us. May you rest in peace. My sincerest condolances to your family, friends & to all that loved to see you on the silver screen.
RIP... It is sad for many that you are gone, but for those of us who have had to see many suffer, understand that sometimes death is the most welcomed blessing from God. I understood those words about not chasing life. I pray your family comfort. I know you are at rest, for the pain you have been released from. Cancer is such a cruel disease, I only pray they can find a way to erradicate it, so people and their loved ones can stop being victims to it.
I always enjoyed Patrick's movies. I know that he made many many movies, but my all-time favories are (and not in any special order): North and South Books 1-3 (the main was great on his feet and had great fencing skills!); Red Dawn; Dirty Dancing; Ghost; Road House; and Next of Kin. These, of course, are my personal favorites. It was upsetting to see the tabloids and those horrible pics of Patrick towards the end. But it was both his and his family's wish to pass away peacefully and with dignity. We will miss you Patrick, RIP!
