Michelle Williams finds it hard to talk about Heath Ledger -- her former fiance with whom she has a daughter named Mathilda -- who tragically died early last year. "I didn't know what my boundaries were for a long time, which made interviews feel very unsafe. I can talk about grief, because that's mine; about single parenting; about trying to balance work and kids. But what I don't have to talk about is what happened between Heath and me in our relationship," she tells Vogue in the October issue. More InsideMichelle: Discussing Heath Felt 'Unsafe'

Michelle in Vogue
"Brokeback Mountain' was an unrepeatable moment in time, a very charmed time in my life. I was in love; I was in a movie I was proud to be a part of, and with a beautiful brand-new baby. Everything was good in that moment," Michelle Williams says in an interview with Vogue where she talks candidly about coping with her ex-fiance Heath Ledger's death.

Coping after Ledger's untimely death: "I was holding it together by a string and a paper clip in the fall and winter. I didn't know if I could keep it all together... You console yourself by saying it's all a deepening process. But it's wired. After the first year, the pain is less intense; it's less immediate. But the magical thinking goes away too. And that's a whole new reckoning. But every time I really miss him and wonder where he's gone, I just look at [Mathilda.]"
The happy times: "'Brokeback Mountain' was an unrepeatable moment in time, a very charmed time in my life. I was in love; I was in a movie I was proud to be a part of, and with a beautiful brand-new baby. Everything was good in that moment."
Dealing with the paparazzi presence: "It's because of this tragedy that there's more paparazzi. That is hard to be graceful and understanding about... It's hard to be the man and the woman in that [paparazzi] situation. Heath always used to do that for us."
Falling in love: "I thought falling in love again was the only thing that was going to save me from the pain. This erroneous idea: It just makes things more complicated."
What the future holds: "I feel hopeful and grateful. For a while I thought we had lost everything. It makes you want to love better and live better."

Poor girl? I guess breaking up with your man 4 times a month makes her girlfriend of the year material. She seems like a spoiled, little rich girl, and seems like she does not feel as bad for Heath, as she does herself. Seems like an entitled, imature girl to me.
As for heath, so sorry, such a shame.
Pretty sure you meant to type "live better" not "liver better."

Hey, wait! I know a friend who quit drinking, and his liver is better.
Michelle,I think the public respected your right to privacy as you & Heath were never Publicity Whores like the majority of Hollywood. Regardless of the way Heath passed. He is missed,he is a legendary actor. It took 3 Brilliant actors to fill Heath's shoes for his final performance. I am forever indebted & grateful to the 3 actors for making it possible for us fans to see his final work. Thanks for sharing Heath with us and also your personal feelings & thoughts. God Bless You & Matilda.

MY SON WAS NOT A FAMOUS ACTOR. HE WAS JUST A REGULAR GUY WORKING HIS WAY THROUGH LIFE. UNFORTUNATELY, HE DIED AROUND THE SAME TIME, IN MUCH THE SAME WAY. HE WENT TO SLEEP AND NEVER WOKE UP, DUE TO A COMBINATION OF ALCOHOL AND PAIN KILLERS. GOING ON TWO YEARS NOW AND IT DOESN'T REALLY GET MUCH BETTER. THE HARD PART IS ACCEPTING THE FACT THAT HE'S NEVER COMING BACK. BEFORE YOU DECIDE TO DO SOMETHING FOOLISH, REMEMBER THAT WHEN YOU DIE IT'S OVER FOR YOU, BUT THE SUFFERING JUST BEGINS FOR THOSE YOU LEFT BEHIND.
So sorry Stalice. The nightmare and fear of losing a beloved child is in the back of the mind of every parent. All we can do is pray they make it though the insanity and self destructive period safely, and not break our hearts.
Your comment makes me sick, very sick. How can you be so unkind, disrespectful, mean, and rude. You have no idea what was going on in his life during that time. What was reported was that he was tryinbg to sleep but couldn't because he was so stressed and so he started combining sleeping pills and pain killers, and he died. Your rude and inconsiderate. I feel for Michelle and Matilda, you obviously don't.

Georgia, please refrain from making assanine remarks about Mr.Ledger and what he died of and how he died . You have no fckn idea what this man was going through. When you have walked in this man's shoes then and only then leave your stupid ass coments . YOU ARE SO FCKN WAY OFF BASE OF WHAT AND WHY THIS MAN DIED AS MOST OF THE PEOPLE ARE. NO WONDER THIS WORLD IS COMING TO AN END, ITS MORONS LIKE YOU WHO HAVE NO FCKN IDEA WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT.........THANK YOU

A very thoughtful response to the loss of a loved one. I hope Michellle´s interview can help others get through the same loss. He died too young and was obviously a sensitive soul. I still miss his work because Heath was beautiful and had an inner light that transposed on to the screen. That is what great acting really is, those who can transfer their qualities of soul and spirirt to words on a page.

Um Georgia, every drug that Heath Ledger took was legal and prescribed. It doesn't mean it won't kill you if you take too much or the wrong combination. People should take it as a cautionary tale.

Michelle tries too hard to use "big words" and attempt to sound more intelligent than she is. I loathe actors that do this. She is not using the English language properly in an attempt to come across as a sophisticated young, woman- but she has failed. Stop trying so hard and just speak from the heart- not a thesaurus you aren't even understanding. Thank you. I need my coffee now.

Hey MsG! Here's a big word for ya...whaaaaaaat?
Big words? Maybe you need a dictionary or better yet, more formal education.
I have my undergrad from NYU, a Master's from Harvard in '07 and two Emmy's under my belt. Should I get my Doctorate to appease your blogging, or will that "sort of" eduation suffice? By the way, Paula Higgins? Who names their daughter that? Paula, ugh, yuck. Classy... Michelle is a drama seeker and utterly unattractive, though that is irrelevant. Heath's friends said it best- she is no good.
Umm, I don't know what article YOU read but she didn't try to use any big words, this is actually her vocabulary. Just because YOU are to dense to understand the words doesn't mean she should not use them! Your statement is weak, get a life.
"Just because YOU are to dense to understand the words doesn't mean she should not use them! Your statement is weak, get a life. "
Did you mean "too" instead of "to" or are you just another ignorant, poorly educated, bored moron who worships people she cannot even touch. I love people who call other people stupid, all while failing at comprehending even basic grammar. "Katiedid"...right up there with Paula. I will be on another site looking for someone who can spell...at least the other people supporting Michelle had valid arguments and were well versed. Take a lesson. You're a f*&^ing idiot, hon.
What does this have to do with Michelle's interview? Please stick to the topic at hand next time!

I get tired of stars talking about balancing work and kids. With all the nanny's and housekeepers and personal assistants, they have no idea what it's like to balance work and kids. Give me a break!
