It seems everyone is weighing in on Kanye West's uncouth outburst at the MTV VMAs, including the leader of the free world. President Barack Obama was overheard on Monday night saying he thought West acted like a "jackass" at the awards show.
His comment came from an off-the-record portion of an interview with CNBC. The swipe was only made known to the world because 'Nightline' co-anchor Terry Moran reported it to his Twitter followers: "Pres. Obama just called Kanye West a 'jackass' for his outburst at VMAs when Taylor Swift won. Now THAT'S presidential," he wrote. The Tweet was quickly deleted but can be seen here.
Instantly, many of his 1 million followers began retweeting the comment, which led to complaints from CNBC for Moran's journalistic breach. An ABC rep tried to explain the error to Politico, saying Moran "prematurely tweeted a portion of those remarks that turned out to be from an off-the-record portion of the interview."
"That was wrong," ABC continued. "We apologize to the White House and CNBC and are taking steps to ensure that it will not happen again.
West has apologized repeatedly for storming the VMA stage and interrupting Taylor Swift's acceptance speech. His latest attempt to quiet the furor came Monday night with an appearance on 'The Jay Leno Show.'
Do you think it would go over so easy if it was a white president referring to a black man with such derogatory words? What would CNN do? I guess it really takes one to know one- From one big mouth to another big mouth! Obama loves Beyonce, so it must really upset him too that she didn't get the award.
Its a bit odd that a lawyer is disbarred and prohibited from practicing law if they are convicted of a felony, but Obama is eligible to be president even though he confessed to committing a felonious act. He confessed that in order to make a bundle on book sales. If he didn't confess it, he would risk being outed by people who knew him in those days and destroy his credibility. Just because someone says they are sorry and confesses to something doesn't mean it is acceptable. What if he murdered someone and admitted it? Is that murder then excused and not prosecuted? Drug traffiking results in deaths of dealers, users, and the enforcers of the laws. Secondly, whether or not Obama was born in Kenya is not really relevant. His citizenship should have been established BEFORE he ran for president. Its the candidates responsibility to provide the proof of citizenship, its not our responsibility to prove he was not born in this country. It amazes me that Obama was able to become president, but then it also amazes me that Bush was able to become president - except that he was running against the idiot John Kerry and before that the insane Al Gore. But then.. out of all the catholics on the planet, they figured the best choice for pope was an ex-nazi.. so go figure!
I'm actually responding to Undeage Coward Professor... you are absolutely right and seem to be the first person I've seen that actually looks at it from that angle. Major props to you.
Hah! It makes me happy to hear that our president has a human side. I thinks it's great someone like him can be so candid. and well, he was right. I don't care who you are...Rude=Jackass. lol
Could you imagine the uproar if George W. Bush would have called Kanye a "jackass" either on or off the record? He would have been crucified by the liberal in Hollywood and the media as a racist (at best) who should keep his opinions to himself. But when the Messiah calls this jerk a "jackass" and ABC captures it and sends it on - ABC apologizes. What a bunch of crap - do we need any more evidence that the mainstream media is totally in bed with Obama and is just his mouthpiece and that all newscasters are just his lackeys whose sole purpose in life is to do his bidding? These "jackasses" masquerading as reporters should just resign and go join the Obama staff - they are just a bunch of Yes-men and women anyway. What a farce these reporters have become - no wonder that no one with any brains takes them seriously. In my opinion, Obama, Kanye and the mainstream media are all a bunch of "jackasses" who should move to freakin' Russia where dictators and government media have had a long and loving relationship.
OBAMA WAS RIGHT. IN MY OPINION MR.WEST IS AN NO CLASS AND NON TALLENT BUM. MS SWIFT IS THE ONE WHO SHOWED CLASS. HER PARENTS DID A GOOD JOB RAISING HER
Mr. West was out of line and nothing he can say or do will make it 100% right. The best thing is to forget him and ignore his rantings. To focus on it only gets him more attention. He and his friend Amber Rose are just part of his ongong freak show.
Obama is a person. A normal person. Yes he may be the President, yes he is in the hands of America, but he was a normal adult before that. So if your saying hes not a good president because he called somebody a jackass than remember how much your father or fellow adults have called people jackasses or other names along the lines of that.
It's ok for Obama to voice his opinion. There is nothing wrong with that. It doesn't make him a bad person. He's a regular person like everyone else is. I can't stand it when people make such a big deal about what the President says.
