I've myself have thought about adopting. I have 1 kid and my husband and I's limit is 3. I really want a girl and my husband wants another boy. He would stop @ 2 even if it's a girl however is up for adoption to make my dream of a girl a reality. With this in the back of our minds we have talked to people who have had the experience of adopting and it isn't anything I would expect. Our friend who is adopted also has an adoptive brother. our friend suffers from ADD and his brother from Autism. They both came from foster care and their biological parents have never tried to get them back or be a part of their life. However what made things tricky for their adoptive father is the amount of classes he has had to take just to keep these boys. I just think the business of children is a tricky one and no matter where you look you're going to be investing a lot of time and money into your endevours.

I think the reason celebrities adopt from foreign countries is not because it is more difficult to adopt in the U.S. but because they get more publicity out of it. Let's face it. They have enough money to buy their way through the adoption process. Heigel has only been married a relatively short amount of time and already is able to adopt. People like Madonna and Angelina carry their adoptive kids around like some Chanel handbag and they get a lot of press out of it. I am sure there are Korean babies in adoption agencies here in the U.S. Teen pregnancy is on the rise, especially with "minority" children so I'm not buying the idea that it is more difficult to adopt from this country. Enough of these celebrities

it is wonderful to give a child a home, but why don't they have their own biological children? i can see if fertility is a problem, but if it is just because they don't want to lose their figure, that sucks

I agree with the fact that it can be very difficult to adopt a child
in the U.S. It makes me VERY sad that there's sooo many children out
there waiting for a good home to belong to, and just because they're
not an infant they will more than likely spend thier whole lives not
knowing what it feels like to have a family. Brad & Angie did not
make foreign adoption "Popular"! People have been adopting babies
from overseas for many years!! It was once considered a status symbol
of wealth and power to be able to adopt a baby from overseas. (Do some
research) I just hope that these children they adopt will still be
educated on where they come from and what thier culture means to
them. Because, no matter how much money the person has who adopt's
them they will notice one day that they might be different from thier
parents and other school mates, and as parents they should be able to
answer these questions. Maybe the celebrities who want to adopt
should get together and lobby to change the laws here so people can
adopt children in the U.S. who need loving families and homes!! I
wish them the best of luck.

What People Do Not Realize Is That It Is Very Hard To Adopt A Child In The United States! There Are So Many Rules and Regulations That I Just Dont Understand What They Have To With Today and Why With So Many Children and Teens In Foster Care, or In Juvenile Facilities Like House Of The Good Shephard. Why is It So Hard To Adopt in THe US?? They Should Really Revamp The Adoption Laws! Foster Care Has A Policy "Bringing Families Back Together" However Most Of THese Children/Teens Cannot Go Back To There Biological Parents For A Good Aparent Reason! So Why Not Let Them Be With A Loving Parent/Parents?? No Matter What Race, Gender or Orientation Of The Adoptive Parent/s?

I know too many couples who try local, domestic adoptions first, but often times it fails and goes oversees to adopt. Why blame the willing and loving parents to be? The Us adoptions agencies and the government should make it more easier for the qualified coulples to adopt. Besides, the most important thing here is that, that baby came home to a loving family who really wanted her and literally went around the world and crossed the sea to bring that child home. As long as they're all happy, that's all it matters!

A child in need is a child in need no matter where he/she is from. Congratulations to Katherine & Josh.

I'm so incredibly happy for their family. It's especially challenging to find strong families willing to adopt a child with "special needs". My best friend has an adopted sibling from Korea because their parents were worried a parent from the states would try to get their child back. Could you imagine the heartbreak? Perhaps oversea adoption is a bit easier???
It's a personal decision, and luckily we have amazing people who are foster parents.

Congrat's but just dont understand why they can't have there own beautiful little Baby... Why do Celebs always do the Outside adoptions? Is it a contest going between them..

So many females that find themselves pregnant have more options here in the U.S. Abortion being the most popular. Also birth control is encouraged at an earlier age than ever before. So pregnancy is prevented. And if a mistake happens here there is open adoptions, closed adoptions and private adoptions.

Let me make something very clear, every state in this great nation has a Child Protecitve Services or Child Welfare Department. Childen that are available for adoption thru these state agencies, birth parents rights have been terminated by the courts so that is NO CHANCE that they are going to change their mind. Now, if you are going thur a private adoption agency, looking only for a new born, white, blond hair, blue eyed baby, those birth parents do have 6 months, in my state to change their mind. Celebrities do not adopt thru the states for many reasons, one being they want a baby right now because they are a fashion statement in Hollywood right now! Also, they more than likely could pass the home study and background checks required in every state. In TEXAS we seek stable, loving forever homes for our children. I can't help but notice that some people seem to think it is EASIER to adopt in a foreign country. It might be quicker but not necessarily easier. And as for passing a criminal check, you have to pass local and FBI testing so how is that easier or different that doing it here? Been there. it has more paper work, lots more unknowns and while I will admit that it seems that people with "money" get it done easier, for regular folks this is not the case.

It is very difficult to adopt a baby in the U.S. these days. We have 2 adopted children (in their 20s now) and we waited 2+yrs for each adoption. The agency we went through has now stopped being an adoption agency due to the low number of infants being placed for adoption. Most unwed, teen mothers are keeping their babies now. So don't criticize unless you truly know what you're talking about.

It's really just plain and simple. There are thousands of children of all ages in the US that need a home. Just because it's popular and easier to adopt from other countries certainly does not make it right. If you're going to open your home and your heart to a child, why must it be an infant? Come on...do the right thing!

i'm sorry but as heartbreaking as it is for adoptive parents the fact remains there is a good reason that the courts usually favor the birth mother. i'm in an opposite situation here where the courts tend to favor others and there are also people who exploit that to take away others children. in this case it was my family using the "law". i'm not drug addicted or abusive etc but they sure wanted me to do something so they could legitimize taking away my child. there are also opposite horrendous situations like this as well. this happened when i was in financial straits and they dove in when i was at my weakest. let me tell you there are wrongs committed on both sides and bad people on both sides both bad mothers and also those who try to adopt or take children for dubious reasons or not good motivations. my half-sister was so jealous of my bond with my son that she actually told me that she wanted me to be the aunt and her the mother etc. there are people like this and her mother helped her because she was raised to get whatever she wanted. my mother's jealousy and malice towards me is another since birth and it has to do with my father leaving her etc and she didn't get the rich husband she thought she was going to and she resents me because i'm a reminder but that's another long story. they don't care if they poison his mind against me even though i never did that with them and nor do they care if he's hurt from not being with me, they just try to distract him. this is not real love either but selfish. i'm telling you there are all kinds and types of bad things going on with adoption etc and stuff like that. i never let her adopt my child even though they pressured me like vultures. sometimes i feel like i could go crazy from how people don't know what actually goes on so it's hard to have support. the bad mothers give the rest of us a bad name so others assume that all adoptive parents or looking to adopt are right or innocent etc. sometimes it can be sinister and that is not true.
