Paula Impersonates 'Idol' Rival Ellen

During the skit, Abdul danced her way thru the crowd and up onto the stage, eventually plopping herself into a seat that was designed to look like a faux 'Ellen' set. She then made a joke saying she knowsSimon Cowell the best, so if DeGeneres had any questions she should call Paula.
She ended the skit with a wish of luck to Ellen, who will start her 'Idol' tenure when the show returns in January.
In another sure-to-be-talked-about 'Divas' moment for Abdul, balance was not her friend as she almost fell down during her opening number. Watch below:

This was the most hysterical thing i've seen in a long time. The impersonation was dead-on and very funny. Paula's a better Ellen then Ellen!!

I think that was very unprofessional and catty of Paula. It just showed her jealousy over the whole IDOL thing. When not being on the show is her own fault for being greedy and asking for more money.... The biggest reality show around she screwed it up, personally I think that was a stupid move. She looked drunk half the time anyways. Love Ellen!! Very catty!!
I tried to watch Paula Abdul’s special last night with my 6-year-old daughter -- because of some of the stars that were on the show -- like Miley Cyrus. But it got way too vulgar when she was talking to that classless, unfunny, zero-talent comedian Kathy Griffin about "Getting Banned," and "Steel Vaginas". I turned it right off. Why does everything have to gravitate to the lowest-common denominator today? People like Griffin can’t be “funny” without being nasty and vulgar. And by the way, it wasn’t even funny. As far as Paula is concerned: she is shaky, uneven, with stilted delivery and she seems uncomfortable on stage. It’s hard to watch her. The world can live without Paula Abdul on television. And please, can we keep the ‘vagina and getting banged’ “jokes” for after 11?

Paula did it in fun and Ellen, I am sure loved it. Its what Ellen would have done if in the same shoes. Good for you Paula - best of luck to Ellen. Ellen will be an excellent addition to the show!!
Ellen gave Paula permission to do that skit. They talked before it was set up and Ellen agreed to it. She thought it would be funny. They are friends. She even offered to lend Paula some trademark clothes that she wears and help her with her impersonation. Paula was not replaced by Ellen. Paula stepped down because she had reached the end of her career with Idol. she was excited to move on. Paula Abdul had a fabulous career BEFORE Idol and she will have a fabulous career AFTER.
OMG! paula's tease was funny but honestly if we're picking random people with no experience in music to judge american idol "CHELSEA LATELY" should have been the number one pick...at least she's funny...lol
(BLEEP)'em if they can't take a joke
The show was GREAT. Some people state that Paula is a drug addict and they have no clue what she is going through. She isn't a drug addict. She takes prescription drugs for pain because of her back. There are times where she has had no sleep because she had to travel from LA to NY and trying to sleep in that situation is impossible. When she goes on junkets where she has to be at a lot of interviews right after flying across the states she still has to perform even though she is exhausted. Many stars take sleep medication that is prescribed by their doctor so they can sleep on the plane when they have to take a long trip. Sometimes the sleep medication doesn't kick in for hours after it is taken, and a person could still be loopy from it. Paula has done nothing wrong. American Idol didn't want to pay her what she is worth and she walked away. She had a career BEFORE American Idol, and she will have a BETTER career now.
Paula was darling! And she looked adorable. I agree; she was a better Ellen than Ellen.
Linda Beeson
Doug Phillips, YOU need to grow up. You obviously don't have your facts streight, for one thing, because she wasn't 'dumped by American Idol'. she QUIT herself because she wasn't being paid as much as the others, and yeah, that wasn't fair. It seems like you just don't like Paula. But if you think the show will be BETTER with Ellen, then you're WAAAAAYY off. Think off all the people that will stop watching just because American Idol is not Americal Idol without Paula. So don't even tell me she was just a wasted seat on American Idol. Just like in That 70s Show, Laurie was not Laurie once they replaced with that whats-her-face. And it's the same for American Idol, the show won't be the same if they replace Paula for Ellen. Did you see Linda Beeson's comment? She's just one of the MANY people that won't be watching the show anymore.
Hey Kath, at least she wasn't dry humping the women in the audience like Ellen. Ellen is nasty. Plain and simple. She wants to be a man, I get it. But if a man acted like Ellen, he'd be in jail or a rapper at least. This decadence we see in Amerika these days is a sign that it's all coming down to something bad. No respect. For anything.
I sure agree with you, Paula did a great impersonation of Ellen. She had it 'down-pat'! I think Paula did a better job of dancing though. Wish Ellen would learn more dance steps; she always dances about the same... I love her show though!!
I despise Ellen - and will stop watching idol, and actually turn off commercials with Ellen in it. I find her a complete boor.
Paula was absolutely terrible :( I really like
Paula but she almost fell dancing, and her voice
was very shaky! Ellen by far is the best for
Idol as well as dancer! Poor Paula :(
i thought it was funny ellen doews it all the time but now that paula did it people think it was wrong it was done in fun if she cant take it than she needs not to be funny herself you guys must have a no life and just want someone to pick on it was good
I agree Paula did a great job as Ellen. I bet she could also do a hot Michael Jackson impersonation.
i so agree it was very very fun, infact a high light of the night. kathy who made the neg comment about paula making fun of ellen, get over it. you seem like a bitter, dry and miserable person. show biz is all about laughs, learn how too.
~terence torres
Paula needs medication. Too bad there's no pill for class. As for those of you that "despise" Ellen, you need the same prescription. You can dislike someone's persona, but despising them as an individual is a serious disease symptom.
very stupid
exactly!
