Charlize Theron Won't Get Married Until Gay Friends Can

Actress Charlize Theron has no plans to marry her boyfriend of eight years, Stuart Townsend until there is marriage equality. On Thursday's episode of 'The View,' the actress revealed, ""I don't want to get married because right now the institution of marriage feels very one-sided, and I want to live in a country where we all have equal rights," Theron said.

"I have so many friends who are gays and lesbians who would so badly want to get married, that I wouldn't be able to sleep with myself," she added. Watch the video (forward to 5:45), or read her interview with MovieFone where she also discusses gay marriage.

Yes it does matter, they do not have the same legal rights as other couples. They do not have the right to make legal medical decisions, they do not have the right to be in an emergency room with the person they love, they do not have the right to adopt, they do not have the right of protection against hate crimes, they do not have........

Who cares........ One less future divorce for the courts to worry about. Obviously she loves her gay friends more than her potential HUSBAND!!!! No way that farce of a relationship would last but, at least the media feels its important enough to report on.

This country WAS founded on Christian values and morals. I guess along with most of Hollywood you lack both values or morals.

Amy, with all due respect you are a sheep. delighted to skip along behind the long line of Celebrity "morality" police who think they have the answer. No thinking person cares whether Charleze Theron gets married or not. Why should we, we dont know her. If she thinks by proclaiming her refusal to get hitched because of what she might see as an injustice, she puts way too much weight in her worth as a person on earth. She can marry a rock and then shove it up her uterus as a protest if she'd like. We dont care what she thinks. Its as simple as that.

The whole animal comparison has been used ad nauseaum and is not true. There are animals that show homosexual behavior. And for those who talk about "Christian values", those are the same "values" that subjugated women and blacks and took the land from the native americans. Yes, love those "values". And the whole procreation argument is flawed too as everyone who is heterosexual doesn't want kids. If that is the case, by that reasoning, they shouldn't have sex and noone should masturbate if procreation is the only reason one gets their rocks off.

Apples and oranges when trying to compare gay marriage to past treatment of blacks/Native Americans. etc.! Yes, all people are created equal but that doesn't apply to same-sex marriages. It's just wrong. Christian values shouldn't change to accommodate the immoral behavior that is running rampant in today's society.

Up until a year & 1/2 ago, she was not a U.S. citizen and her boyfriend is an Irish citizen, and for the 7 or so years they have been a couple, she has always repeatedly said she would never marry because she didn't believe in it as an institution. Now that she is a U.S. citizen, she is simply being redundant, but putting a political spin on her same ol' same ol'. But I find it interesting that in her interview it's all "I,I,I", leaving her boyfriend's thoughts and feelings completely out of the equation. I don't think anyone is really interested in whether she gets married or not.
