By PopEater Staff Posted Sep 20th 2009 09:53AM
The Oprah Winfrey-produced movie about an illiterate and pregnant Harlem teenager has won the top prize at the Toronto Film Festival. 'Precious' introduces film goers to newcomer Gabourey Sidibe and features a shocking turn by Mo'Nique, who plays Precious's abusive mom. Watch Trailer:
Director Lee Daniels said he made the film "for every person who looked in the mirror and felt unsure about the person looking back."
Eventual best Oscar winner 'Slumdog Millionaire' took the same award last year. 'Precious' also stars Mariah Carey as a dour social worker.
