'Blood' Star: Stop the Vampire Madness
Is it possible to have too many vampires in one sandbox? If you're 'True Blood' star Carrie Preston, the answer is probably yes now that the crowded landscape includes 'The Vampire Diaries.' "They have drained this corpse dry," Preston, who plays Arlene Fowler on 'Blood,' told PopEater about all of the fanged projects of late. More vampire talk after the jump!"Besides 'Diaries,' there are a couple of vampire movies coming out. I hope they stop. They're diluting the blood, er water, for all of us," Preston added.
Though she hasn't seen any of the CW show 'Diaries,' Preston admits she has read all four 'Twilight' books. The big difference between them all, though, is that 'Blood' is most certainly for mature viewing.
"A lot of these other vampire projects are for kids ... And I think everyone is hitting overload... except for 'True Blood.' That's for adults," Preston told PopEater.
Preston spoke from the Suite Life Emmy Suites at the Mondrian's Skybar with a bag-full of goodies which included baked tan ("I need to be tan for the show") and Joe's Jeans. Like everything else, she does gifting suites in moderation. "I'm not a junkie like some of my friends. On the other side, I'm not like my husband (actor Michael Emerson) who is gifting-suite-a-phobic. Yes he was diagnosed with that and I'm hoping to cure him."

Why is everyone acting like Vampires are a new genre? Bram Stocker, Lord Byron all wrote in the last century. Films about Vampires have been around since the silent era, remember nosferatu? Big re-emergence in the 60-70s with the Hammer Dracula films. Steven King wrote salems Lot and I dare say the newest vampire books owe alot to Anne Rices Series on Lestat and his group. She made them sexy. So all of the novice fans need to remember this is an old "schtick"

I agree...but I came from the generation of Dark Shadows and True Blood is from that vein of vampire lore. I have read the Dak Shadow books and they catered to the adult audience as did the show. It was just a different time, when tact and morals ran the TV. As you can tell I am a True Blood fan...as are my children. We love vampire stories even the ones you mentioned

I love Carrie Preston, but talk about biting the hand that feeds you... not smart. (What happens when she gets her wish and vamp mania fades? She's out of a job.)

So basically, she's saying she only wants vampire shows that have her in them. What a snob. Her character in the stories fits her well.

um...someone on a vampire show probably shouldn't complain about how popular vampires are.

I disagree I have also read all 4 twilight saga books and seen twilight and the trailors for new moon, also the premier of vampire diaries. I saw true blood at my daughter's and was very upset at the sex, nudity, and everyone in that town will be a vampire within a week. No story line except SEX I was going to subscribe to HBO for this, NO WAY, sorry folks but give me twilight and vampire diaries any day!!!! Hope more agree but to be real to each their own.
