A Los Angeles pharmacist told Anna Nicole Smith's internist that the drugs prescribed to the model after her son died were "pharmaceutical suicide," according to unsealed documents written by state officials. The Los Angeles Times reports that the pharmacist refused to fill the prescriptions and later recalled thinking, "They are going to kill her with this."Smith's doctors were warned about prescription drugs by three pharmacists, according to unsealed affidavits obtained Monday by the LA Times. The documents are part of an investigation of the role that Smith's doctors, psychiatrist Khristine Eroshevich and internist Sandeep Kapoor, had in her overdose death in February 2007.

The physicians and Smith's boyfriend and attorney Howard K. Stern pleaded not guilty May 13 to conspiring to illegally provide her with controlled substances. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for next month.
In court papers filed last week, prosecutors said they plan to call the model's bodyguard and Larry Birkhead, the father of her daughter, Dannielynn, as witnesses.
The documents also cite evidence that both physicians crossed professional boundaries by having sexual contact with their famous patient. Calls to attorneys representing Eroshevich and Kapoor were not immediately returned Monday.
The first request for drugs for the former Playboy Playmate came five days after her son died and asked for two sedatives, 300 tablets of methadone, a muscle relaxer, an anti-inflammatory drug and four bottles of a strong painkiller.

I cannot believe anyone still cares about this. (Talk about beating a dead horse!)

It does show the importance of pharmacists, something we tend to forget.
It is also an interesting parallel with Michael Jackson.
what if this was someone you loved?
If you did not care why reply?Me I would let it go if I didn't care. You do so that is why your replied so people could see it and see your reply or you would not have not done it LOL.I do care!
common ! YOU cared enough to read the article and YOU cared enough to comment on it...duhhhh !!
You cannot put all the blame on the doctors.Anna was out of control and knew where to get drugs when she wanted them.If you said no to her,she would move on to the next.Truth be told she died of a broken heart and was unable to live with the guilt. If she had made better choices in her life both her and Daniel would still be around.

I agree with some of your comments. The problem was Anna-Nicole went around acting act like a middle-aged teen queen. If she would have settle down and took care of herself. She would still be around today.
Of course you can blame the doctors, they are legally responsible for the drugs they prescribe and if all of them had an ounce of ethics than Nicole Smith wouldn't have been able to become the drug addict that she was. Just because someone else might prescribe them to her is no excuse for anyone to prescribe the drugs and amount of them. If the law would start prosecuting these rogue doctors and the AMA striping them of their licenses to practice then this kind of criminal behavior would quickly stop. Instead they're given a slap on the wrist and the practice continues. Shame on them, I personally hope they throw the book at all these irresponsible doctors, they need to remember the oath they took 'not to harm their patients' and not just follow the money and fame rubbed off from their patients.
You cannot stop people from being self destructive. Add a limitless supply of money and there you go.
People still care about this because everyday in America such prescription drugs are the cause of death for so many, including, but not limited to: schoolchildren, mothers, fathers, grandparents, celebrities and regular folk alike. America the drugged... prescription "side effects" are no joker.

Drugs prescribed by physicians are very rarely lethal, unless abused by the patient. Hell, you can drink enough water and cause your own death !
Addiction is a disease. Though she may have "wanted" the drugs, it is up to the physicians to insure her safety when prescribing them. They played a direct role in her death and should loose thier medical license.

this is the doctors fault. it is the professional responsability of the doctor to know how to prescribe medication for a patients problem. never there is no reson to give this lady methadone unless she was a nracotic addict and you were trying to detox her. this is clearly the doctors fault. if they were having sex with her, then we need go no further. they are guilty of complete professional misconduct. this is simply disqusting. a pateint can not bug a doctor for medication. you simply say no and tell them the correct way to treat them. i know i am a doctor. mj died because of a doctor. the patient is not responsable for there death if they take a prescribed medication at the prescribed dose and interval. that is the doctors fault.

Jake, if you're really a doctor then this country is in BIG trouble. You don't even know the facts about the medication you quoted (for example "Methadone is only given to addicts"...100% NOT TRUE--look it up) Plus the fact that you can't speak, write, or spell the English language correctly. Why should ANYONE believe anything your foreign arse has to say??
Wow.You are so not a doctor. First, you can't even use the English language correctly. When you come close, you can't even spell. More so is the fact that any doctor would know that methadone is a prescribed narcotic medication for pain control in patients with severe chronic pain . Yes, it is also used to help treat addiction to heroin but that is not its main (or only use). Last point is that any physician worthy of a medical degree would be quick to not blame the doctor or the patient but would be to point out the issues of mixing pharmacueticals and the increase in prescription abuse across the country. Grow up. It's fine to have a comment, but don't bother with the lies.
Well said, Doctor??????
You are not a DOCTOR! It is obvious the way that you write and the terminology you use that you are not a Doctor. You make a valid point but there is no need to lie. Check your grammar next time.
Sorry
I absolutely agree with you. Wake up doctors! No one patient is alike. Each is deeply unique with special needs and tollerances you must respect when treating with any kind of medication! Shame on you! Denise Platte, M.A Founder PerfectyYou.biz
OMG...if you are a doctor, then you should go back to school to learn grammar and spelling! Maybe you are a witch doctor!!
Jake,If you are a "doctor", then you should know that methadone is a widely prescribed pain killer. It can be used for addicts to help them get off heroine, but they are given that dose at a facility while personal watches them take the drug. I rather doubt if you are a doctor, at least not a medical doctor or you would not have made such a foolish comment, let alone the poor spelling that you used. Sorry, but if people want to make comments, then at least have your facts straight. I am a medical professional and hope that people would get informed and not just talk before they know the facts. :)
