Billy Joel's Got a New 'Lovely Lady'

Billy Joel kicked off a new season at the Metropolitan Opera on Monday with a new girl on his arm, the New York Observer reported. Deborah Dampiere arrived with Joel at the opening in a black Badgley Mischka gown, and stood by as her date was questioned about his future ex-wife.

Joel, 60, is in the midst of a divorce from his wife of five years Katie Lee Joel, 27. His publicist tried to intervene when one reporter brought it up, but Joel answered, "How are the divorce proceedings going? I don't know. Ask my lawyer."

"For now," he added, "I'm enjoying dating this lovely lady."

Also, you got it wrong on the cheating part, Christie cheated on him with the guy she was in the helicopter accident with. Long live rock and roll!!

I am 46 and have a 26 year old, who is graduating with a degree in business, and getting married next year.

If JOEL or any of the OLD GUY STARS really believe that these YOUNG LADIES are in LOVE they need to be checked for Alzheimer's immediately.

billy Joel wrote "Just the Way You Are" for his first wife and you see how that worked out. Actually I think Christie cheated on him and got pregnant. she got married in white fur and the marriage only lasted long enough for the snow to melt. Billy keeps marrying these young women, but his alcoholism is just too much to deal with.

Absolutely the money...although I'm a huge fan of his music, his life has been littered with train wrecks because of his alcoholism. Surely these women hear or see the news about his history...I guess for the right price, anyone can ignore the truth.

From what I've always understood, Christie didn't cheat on Billy, it was the other way around. It's been said he always wanted to "prove" himself (ie being short, losing his hair, etc.). Christie has said she never wanted a divorce---they got married more or less because they wanted the same things in life. There's no reason that they couldn't get back together now, why not? They are equally matched in a lot of ways (financial too) so he could trust her. And maybe he has grown up (I said MAYBE, ha ha!)

Yep, I agree with Nittany Lion (Two "T"s, though... Not 1... For shame!). Debbie Damp, now "Deborah Dampiere," is around 40. And she's been dating BJ for years now.

OK, I've never thought Billy Joel was attractive, but I do have to say, he looks better with age. Is that crazy?? IDK, he doesn't look as fat or buggy-eyed as he did in his earlier years. On the age factor - I don't think it's a big deal, but then again, I am a woman dating a man 15 yrs younger than I. I just don't see what the fuss is about. If they like each other - what does age have to do with it? and why is it any of our business?? Some people may see me and my boyfriend and wonder what's he doing with an older woman, but no one knows what goes on in relationships, behind closed doors. So far, it's been 5yrs and we're still going strong. I wish Billy and his lady much happiness, everyone deserves to find love. Maybe he really is just a nice guy/good mate - I mean, Christie Brinkley married him - when she also had money, so maybe he has something we just don't see.
