It seems everyone's a critic when it comes to Ellen DeGeneres replacing Paula Abdul as judge on 'American Idol.' Even in our poll, 61% said it was unfair to have a judge that's not music based. So on her talk show Tuesday, DeGeneres took the opportunity to confront her critics and defend the controversial decision, US Weekly reported."Apparently, there's a lot of debate going on right now whether I'm qualified or not to be the new judge on American Idol," she said. "I know there is a lot chatter. I'll tell you right now, how I know I'm going to be a great judge...I've spent my whole life being judged. So I know what it's like."

I have loved Idol from thr beginning but year after year it has been harder to tolerate the talenrless Seacrest. When they brought kara in was the beginning of the end . They did not need another judge but even so she has no charisma for me. Then the way they treated Paula and giving Seacrest all that money was just about the end. Then Ellen was picked . I love her but not on Idol. Thats all she talks about now on her show so have stopped watching it too. Last seasin the judges barely had time to speak and the show was rushed so often it was ridiculous. So I will just watch the x factor on You tube, and leave idol to Fox
American Idol is about the business of pop music. Being a trained musician is not a part of being a judge. (After all, there is no such word as "pitchy" which is used by Randy all of the time. He is not a educated musician. Does he mean intonation?) Ellen certainly is as experienced as all of the other judges in "show business." That is what the show is about. She will be just as successful as any of the other judges. She is a successful performer with her own show.

If she is a fine judge on her OWN show, then she need to stay on her OWN show. She is a gay choice that need to be on a gay channel!

Why do people who are being criticized assume that they are being criticized for something other than what their critics are actually saying? It seems to me that people are questioning her qualifications, not her sexuality. Ellen could have just responded by asking people to give her a chance, first, BEFORE they start criticizing.

Everyone was right about the choice of Janet Jackson should have been the judge who replaced Paula. Janet has talent, grace, style and beauty. We need our children to watch an american idol show that captures their attention with professional talent as being a role models. Not a person who dresses and look likes a man such as the chosen Ellen, the lesbian.
