I think Jessica has been in a tailspin most of her life. The woman is a real nut case.

Actually there is no Anti-Coyote protecting methods, they can and will leap over any fence to get their prey,a coyote was seen climbing 10 feet up a tree to jump a 7 foot fence in my 'hood, grabbed a dog and leapt over the fence with dog in it's jaws. The only way is to keep close or monitor your pet when it is outside, but you better be quick, they are not called wiley coyote for nothing. They are also not afraid of people one followed me and my dog on a walk even though I tried to scare it off, it kept coming till I got into the house. Sorry Jessica lost a pet she is not stupid, lots of pet owners have lost them the same way because they were not aware of how fast and determined coyotes are.

You people are ridiculous making comments about her weight and being an irresponsible pet owner. Give me a break! She obviously loved her dog and didn't do anything to cause this to happen. Jessica didn't say it was like losing a family member - a "source" said it. Regardless, losing your dog this way is a traumatic thing - leave her alone already!!!!
To those who say she should've provided an appropriate fence - the article says she watched it happen, which means she was right there watching her dog. Think about Jaycee Dugard, who was kidnapped, her step-father saw it happen. There was nothing he could do to prevent it. How dare anyone blame her for what happened! She was obviously watching her dog.

in re to the comments on whether it is harder to lose a pet or a family member, I say this - pets love you unconditionally, most family members do not

She needs my famous "hot beef injection" to help her get over it.

I feel so sorry for her. She is obviously missing her little guy. She probably goes through her mind over and over of the things she could have done to prevent this. Honestly, this will do her no good. There is nothing she can do to fix the loss. It truly is a loss. I feel bad for her.

It took probably a few seconds for her to lose her dog and my heart goes out to her. She is in alot of pain and probably self-blame too. I agree, the best thing most dog owners can do is have their pet on a leash when out for a walk and not in an enclosed yard. I've lost both parents when I was very young and when I lost my pooches to old age, my heart was broken. People need to be a little kinder to one another.

YOUR WRONG KAT, I'M THE MOTHER OF FOUR CHILDREN AND A GRANDMOTHER TO 4, ONE GOT KILLED IN 2002.
I LOVE MY DOG AND IF ANYTHING HAPPEN TO HIM I'D FALL APART. MY KIDS HAVE THEIR OWN LIVES, BUT MY POOK IS EVERYTHING TO ME AND I AM "HIS LIFE". I ALSO HAVE ANTOEHR LOVABLE DOG THAT TENDS TO STAY WITH MY HUSBAND AND A LOVING BLACK CAT THAT IS MORE LOVING THEN MOST CATS AND IS MORE LIKE A DOG, EVERYONE LOVES HIM AND I ADORE HIM. YOUR PETS ARE YOUR FAMILY AND I AM STAING THAT AS A MOTHER, THIS IS WHY MY CHILDREN ALL HAVE PETS AND LOVE THEM SO MUCH.

This comment section is typical of most blogs found on the computer. It is a story of personal loss but I agree that her weight, intelligence, and marital status are not needed here. Some, just enjoy being nasty to others and have to tell the world what they think. Their lack of compassion on ANY form is simply amazing and sickening. That is why, AOL and other sites should not include blog sections. Clean up the junk and the sociopaths.

I feel sorry for Jess. It is devastating to lose a pet - I have been there, but I have to agree that you need to be responsible for your animal. I live in New York City and there are absolutely no predators, but even still I won't let my pooch out without me by his side and safe in some form of controlled environment where nothing can get to him that I cannot protect him from. I hope she learned a valuable lesson.

I would be upset too, that little dog is so cute and she LOVES it alot, so why wouldn't she be upset? I'm no fan of Jessica but this time I understand her. A pet is a member of your family and they are 98% of the time taken care of as they are thought of as a child, and more so if the person don't have any children of their own.

What is it going to take for the dumb blonde to realize her pooch is dead. Does the coyote have to regurgitate its bones for her to believe it??

You people that write such mean things and have to add in the "fat ass" weight jabs at Jessica or who ever the current story is about are really sad. I feel sorry for you all.

I really feel for Jessica's loss - YES, losing a pet can be JUST like losing a family member. We had to have our spaniel put down after thirteen years, and we all cried like babies - including my father, whom I have never seen cry in my whole life, barring when his mother died. It was difficult, but it would be even more horrifying to have it happen suddenly, without warning, and be incapable of stopping it. I truly hope she gets through this, and she should remember to just focus on the good things - her parents and sister - maybe dote on her nephew for a while if getting another dog is still too painful!

i find it difficult to feel sympathy for such a dimwit! maybe she should get a real job and join the real world... that would provide some much-needed maturity.
