Julia Roberts Riles Religious Rite

This 'Pretty Woman' is causing a dirty mess. Hollywood superstar Julia Roberts' new movie is disrupting worshippers in an Indian village during one of their most important festivals, BBC News is reporting.

The imposing film set for 'Eat, Pray, Love' is preventing the inhabitants of Pataudi, a town near Delhi, from celebrating the religious festival of Navratri. The Hollywood star's security detail is only worsening the matter. Roberts is reportedly using a bulletproof car and helicopter in addition to a large security detail. Some media outlets have described the operations as "presidential."

Police in the area have said that they have been ordered to prevent the faithful from entering the Hari Mandir temple due to security considerations. The shoot comes at an unfortunate time. The month of September is one of the holiest times of year for Hindus.

Neither Sony Pictures Entertainment, which owns the production company responsible for the film, nor Roberts has released a statement responding to the allegations.

Before the fiasco, Roberts had been considered one of Hollywood's most Hindu-friendly actors. Earlier this year she was photographed with a bindi spot during a visit to the Taj Mahal.

'Eat, Pray, Love,' based on the novel by Elizabeth Gilbert, chronicles the spiritual quest of a woman dealing with the aftermath of a troubling divorce through journeys to Italy, Indonesia and India.

Roberts, 41, shot to fame after co-starring with Richard Gere in 'Pretty Woman.' Roles in 'My Best Friend's Wedding', 'Notting Hill' and 'Ocean's Eleven' helped her earn over $2 billion in box office returns during her career. Roberts has been working to regain her mantle as America's Sweetheart after taking off time to raise her three children. She won an Academy Award as the lead in 'Erin Brockovich.'

This movie is about a women trying to get through divorce. So she needs a spirtual lift that takes her to Italy, Indonesia and India???? Yeah thats what most of us do when they decide to divorce they just take off to other countries...... Who is choosing these movies for you Julia because they need a new job............WOW will this BOMB at the box office.

I've noticed that the people in America have a tendency to walk all over the beliefs of anyone else in or from another country, regardless if it's religion, language, dress, mannerisms, etc. What makes Americans think they are the only ones that count in this world?

Don't stereotype a group of people based off a movie and you won't have so many questions in your head because everything will make a hell of a lot more sense.
