Singer Macy Gray had a short and frustrating career on ABC's 'Dancing With the Stars.' First, her post-dance comments were bleeped by the network - the 'I Try' singer ran afoul of the censors for saying: "I was just glad to get the first dance out of the way... I just feel like I popped my cherry."
Unfortunately, Gray won't have a chance to dance back into their good graces. She and actor Ashley Hamilton were the first contestants to be eliminated on the ninth season of the dance-off.
Hamilton, 34, had hoped to follow the footsteps of his father, George Hamilton, a previous competitor on the program. But the younger Hamilton and his professional partner, Edyta Sliwinska, failed to make it past the first foxtrot. They came into Wednesday's results show tied for last place with just 19 points out of 40.
Judge Bruno Tonioli said Hamilton's performance suffered from a "total lack of showmanship."
Hamilton said he was happy just to have had a chance to dance. "It's been a blast," he said. "I've had a great partner and it was a great experience."

Gray also scored 19 points for her two dances Tuesday. Judges admired her unique take on the Viennese waltz - "It was beautiful in its own bizarre way," judge Carrie Ann Inaba said - but Gray and professional partner Jonathan Roberts still landed in last place.
Viewer votes are combined with judges' scores to determine which contestants are eliminated each week.
The 42-year-old Grammy winner said she "had a good time" on the show. "Ballroom isn't my calling exactly, but I learned a little bit," she said.
Wednesday's episode also featured performances by reggae star Sean Kingston and the cast of "The Lion King" and a tribute to Patrick Swayze.
Good choices for elimination America. I do not watch the show but happened to be eating at the food court of The International Mall in Tampa yesterday and all I overheard was how bad Macy Gray was. I did not hear anything about Ashley Hamilton but it must have been the same.
I don't think Ashley was nearly as bad as Macy. I don't think he was the weakest of the male competitors either. It's just there was nothing about him that stood out, and he didn't get the votes. Michael and Tom were worse than him, but he was boring in comparison. Both Tom and Michael at least brought some humor to the show.
Macy did need to go home because she was the weakest, and she was crass. I felt sorry for Jonathan (the pro she was paired with). He always seems like such a sweetheart, and he gets the "hard luck" cases. This year, he got the woman with a potty mouth who looked and moved more like a man.
There is no getting around it .... she was horrible at dancing and too, her personalty. She did take away from his talents and there was not a thing he could do about it. The two good things was it ended and she was voted off. I am sure he knows why they were voted off. I do.
He is good but there is only so much a good dancer can do with a piece of garbage. From the get go, he knew she was a loser. The term "crass" was used describing her. Trurer words never spoken. Sickening too. UGH was what I felt about her. Sorrow for him.
OMG .. was it mean or did she just look higher than a kite? She wasn't so bad last night however the other night I couldn't decide if she was drunk, stoned or both the first night. Last night she was better. I agree poor Jonathan he looks like he'd be so sweet and always seems to get paired with the loonies!
For clarification purposes, Tom DeLay has not been convicted of anything. He is the VICTIM of political persecution by a partisan democrat local prosecutor who wanted to make a name for himself in order to run for governor. Here we are, YEARS later and the issue has not gone to trial because the prosecutor keeps delaying. In fact, if you informed yourself, you would find out that the campaign finance law changed AFTER Tom DeLay committed the alleged violations. The actions DeLay took were not illegal at the time he took them. The prosecutor had to bring this cooked up crap to a grand jury many times before he finally found a bunch of jurors stupid or partisan enough to want to ruin a good man's life for political ends.
Margaret is right he is a disgraced politician... Tom Delay loves himself too much to step down just because some rinky dink prosecutor charges him with something. The Speaker of the House just doesn't step down unless he will go to jail.... they haven't pushed the charges because he stepped down. Nice try at spin control, but your BS meter is on full.
Macy Gray has to be the most bizarre contestant on that show. She danced like a robot, she looked like she was in a stupor all the time and she proved herself to be classless in that remark. Good riddance. Ashley was nice enough, just not good enough.

I no longer watch this program because of its boring group of contestants. It really disgusted me to see a disgraced politician on the list.

How she ever was selected is an unknown to me. She took so much away from him. She was why one could not see how good he is.

Gray needs an attitude adjustment and did not belong on DWTS. Clearly a sore loser with a total lack of class. Bye, bye! Nice to see you go!
