'Gossip Girl' actress Kelly Rutherford has been granted a temporary restraining order against her estranged husband, claiming that his presence has been threatening to both Rutherford and her nanny. In the legal filing, Rutherford claims that Daniel Giersch "has begun to follow me, my mother and my nanny and he shows up unexpectedly to threaten and scare us." TMZ reports. Rutherford also claims that Giersch's behavior and the stress that has been caused by it has affected her breast milk production.

Sadly too many women use the restraining orders as a means to get control and the upper hand when they have to share custody. I have no tolerance for guys who stalk and abuse women but my disgust with women who hate their ex more than they love their children and have a need to control is equal. Your children suffer as a result of it. Everytime a woman lies or embellishes a claim about harassment hurts a woman who is a victim

RAS, I agree with you! This "actress" seems to be a real piece of work. I am sorry her kids (and their father) have been caught up in her manipulation and insanity. And *real* vicitms of harrasment or abuse are disbelieved due to liars like her.
Sounds like this woman is a bit off her nut. Too many women go to court and fabricate things so they can get whatever they want and make men's lives hell. I worked in family law for several years and could not stand dealing with women like this Rutherford chick. While stress can affect health and so many other things, it seems a bit unlikely that the man is causing enough stress to actually affect milk production. Her claim is somewhat difficult to prove so she can say pretty much anything she wants without backing it up. I would almost bet she is truly the nutty one in the relationship.

Whether or not Kelly is being honest or not, I cannot say. In fact, none of us really can, unfortunately.
That said, milk production is absolutely affected by stress and illness. My OB made it clear to me that when it was time to nurse my baby, to go to a quiet, stress-free zone in the house, play soothing music and drink plenty of fluids, and make sure I was as rested as possible. This is true for most women, although some produce an abundance regardless, probably due to the manner in which she handles life. Folks, say what you will about what you believe the truth with Kelly and her ex, but please don't belittle the complications related to breast-feeding. Thank you.
If this guy is causing scenes and arguments he does not need to be around her. They need to exchange the children or have visitation arranged so that she does not contact him. A baby will not nurse when the mother is tense or emotional. It prevents the milk from being released which can also cause yeast infections in the breast. And yes, continued stress decreases milk production because the body is weakened. I am a mother of 4, which I breastfed as long as possible. However, due to my ex's continual yelling and verbal abuse I was only able to nurse a few weeks with my younger 2. So all of you anti-family people who know nothing about breastfeeding please do some research before you go spouting off like a know-it-all god.

News flash. Depending on the amount of liquids mom drinks, she might or might not have more milk produced. Dads usually don't bother Elsie's production of milk. I breastfed for like 4 years and many things affect production, but my husband never was the cause of underproduction.

It's HORRIBLE when someone wont leave you alone..when they follow you, when they suddenly ''show-up'' where you are..when you are driving and you look in the rear view mirror and THERE HE IS! So quit being so damn judgemental and acting like you are the queen to breastfeeding. I can DEFINITELY imagine if someone is stalking you and you are that stressed out that your body would react.

I think the truth is she looked in a mirror and it scared her and that effected her ability to produce any thinking based in reality. The judge should fine her attorney. The courts give the women such and advantage in a divorce and then wonder why some guy just simply snap.

I know that intollerable stress can throw your hormonal balance off. During my separation from an abusive husband I started cramping and bleeding and every test there was was done for cancers and early menapause but doctors found nothing wrong. I one day noticed that every time I had to deal with him and I got upset I started cramping and bleeding. Just look at how many women loose pregnancies due to stress. Unless you know her personally you really don't know the truth.

Women want to be treated as equals in everything until it comes to divorce court or a custody hearing. Then they want to be the helpless female. This is the 21st century. Why does the institution of marriage and the court system act as though we are still in the 20th.
