Breaking Down the Gosselin He-Said, She-Said Drama
Lost in all the he-said/she-said drama between Jon and Kate Gosselin now that they're separated? PopEater has assembled a handy cheat sheet highlighting the "Best Of" (or "worst of," depending on where you stand) the back-and-forth between the feuding stars.
When the Gosselins announced they were divorcing, the two kept things classy and civil at the time, with both parties releasing mostly PC statements.
>> 6/22/09: Kate said: "Over the course of this weekend, Jon's activities have left me no choice but to file legal procedures in order to protect myself and our children. While there are reasons why it was appropriate and necessary for me to initiate this proceeding, I do not wish to discuss those reasons at this time, in the hope that all issues will be resolved amicably between Jon and myself. As always, my first priority remains our children."
Jon said: "This afternoon, Kate filed for divorce. Our kids are still my number one priority. I love them and want to make sure they stay happy, healthy and safe. My job is being the best, most supportive and loving father that I can be to my kids, and not being married to Kate doesn't change that."
That's when the crazy train left the station.
>> 7/26/09: Just 19 days after the divorce announcement, Jon has already begun dating not one, but allegedly two women. The first, 22-year-old Hailey Glassman, daughter of the NYC plastic surgeon who gave Kate a tummy tuck in 2006. The second, Kate Major, a former reporter for Star magazine. John tells People magazine: "At this point ... I'm single – per se. I'm just a regular guy who just wants to have friendship and good times. And I like meeting people. When asked about his thoughts on his soon-to-be ex, he remained civil. "Kate and I agreed to a 45-day period in which we wouldn't talk about each other. After that we might be able to speak more freely."
>> 8/14/09: That moratorium doesn't last long. Jon tells Splash News that Kate "tried to 'cry it up' with the cops'" when authorities were called to the Gosselin home over a "misunderstanding." "It didn't work," Jon said. "They said, 'You have to leave.' I have no idea [why she was unhappy]. I guess [because] she didn't have approval. I didn't come home when she had custody and make a big stink. We're good judges of taking care of our kids and when we need babysitters, we need babysitters."
>> 8/28/09: Jon goes back to being civil. "I have no ill will toward Kate. She's the mother of my kids. She's a great mom. She does a lot for them."

>> 9/14/09: Kate takes a turn as a "View" co-host and the high road, only briefly addressing her Jon drama. "This is definitely, I'm not going to lie, difficult. For the sake of my children I am going to continue taking the high road because it's the only road for me. It is not easy. I melted down over the weekend in the privacy of my own home."
>> 9/18/09: Two days after In Touch weekly ran an interview with nanny Stephanie Santoro, claiming she had an affair with Jon, Kate addresses the situation on 'The View.' Of the nanny, she says: "Just based on the behavior of the last several months, am I surprised? No ... It goes back to the police being called, the whole babysitter thing. This is the babysitter I objected to and I couldn't tell you why at that time. It was just like my mother's intuition. I did not want her there ... I'm not saying it's true or false. All I'm talking about is what my intuition is saying."

Cher? A star? You gota be kidding me. But I do agree with you that Jon and Kate are a couple of fools. Their marriage self-destructed because Kate verbally abused Jon on tV so often that it was getting obvious that the marriage was through. And that was season one!

Exactly, but the real person to blame all of this on is the reporters, do they not have anything else better do to then to destroy the lives of those poor children. Someone should call CPS on them because it seems like to me they keep saying how much they love the kids and they will do anything for them, but all of this he said she said stuff is going to down right destroy their lives. Yes these kids have everything in the world but what they don't have is two mature parents that can protect them from all of this when they get older.

Kate wasn't the best looking person either prior to her plastic surgery. Must be nice to have someone else pay for cosmetic work to improve your appearence. She definetly didn't have the look for television. I feel sorry for the kids in all of this.

I find the animosity between the two fanbases (Kate hater and lovers) to be a heck of a lot more irritating than the squabbling between the Gosselins.
Almost every article I read about this unfortunate family is closely followed by comments from nasty, mud-slinging, opinionated and judgmental fans. The (sometimes illiterate) haters LOVE TO POST IN CAPITALS with lots of punctuation!!!!!1!!!??!!..... and questionable spelling. The lovers, although probably nicer people, tend to sound smug and holier-than-thou.
Interestingly, the Kate haters mostly seem to adore Jon Gosselin, while the lovers despise him. Where are the people who really can't stand either of them? Doesn't anybody still like both of them?
The behavior of those involved in both sides of the battle is much more mind boggling than anything Jon or Kate could ever dream to cough up.

Eveyone knew that Kate was treating Jon rotten, even she admitted it. 90% of wives start out a marriage doing the same thing. Psychologically they want to see how much of a man they really have, they push and push until he stops taking it. When they act like Jon; whimpy, showing low self esteem, or laying down like a rug to be walked on the wife becomes insecure and then treats them even worse; a man can take it for just so long. Jon should have spoke up long time a go. This mess rest on his shoulders. And Kate should have taken wise counsel when others that were smarter than she was brought it to her attention. My concern is for the children. Would I ever watch the show again? Yes! It was the kids that made it fun. Can this couple's marriage be saved. Yes! They need a major dose of their own reality and with a ton of humility, kindness, forgiveness, love, and commen sence they could save their children from a lot of heartbreak. I wish them all well.

Didn't they say at one point they were no longer going to speak publicly about their marriage or their problems? That didn't last long. Sad this family ( kids ) can not deal with this privately. A lot of marriages don't work out for various reasons. Everyone says Kate is a b*tch. I don't think so. Do you think this was the first time he cheated? No I don't think so. Being a parent is tough. Being a parent in a marriage that one person is out at clubs at 2am with a 22 year old is even tougher. I see why Kate was the way she was with him.

Isn't everybody tired of them by now? They've made more money by being uncivil, that's their whole point. Nice doesn't sell. Saw Kate on The View, she looked petrified. She should stick to bossing the kids around. And Jon is reliving his youth. He isn't attractive enough to land all these women. He must be paying them to say all this stuff. Poor kids! Eventually they'll be old enough to read all this old stuff. They'll be so proud!!
