An SNL F-bomb in the 'Saturday Night Live' season premiere? Sounds that way.
Most new cast members on 'Saturday Night Live' begin their tenure on the show with a whimper. Perhaps a brief cameo as a waiter, an office worker, maybe throw out a wave during the end-of-show "good nights." But not Jenny Slate. During her inaugural 'SNL' episode, the newbie came out with a bang. An F-Bomb bang, that is, in the middle of a sketch about biker chicks. "You stood up for yourself, and I f---ing love you for that."
Post-swear, Slate's reaction was sheer oh-my-what-have-I-done.
But hers isn't the reaction we've been waiting for. Would Lorne Michaels, the show's executive producer, exact swift justice on Slate? A day after the slip, Michaels not only deflected the idea she would be fired, but also revealed he feels bad for the young actress.
"It was literally her first time on the show," Michaels explained to the Washington Post. "There was nothing dirty, just a slip of the tongue. It was 'frickin', frickin', frickin' ' and then boom! The pain that Jenny is going through is, I'm sure, considerably worse than that experienced by anybody who saw it."
"It has to be an actor's worst nightmare," Michaels said. "Your first time on 'Saturday Night Live' and this happens. You could sense the mortification in the studio."
The network has also come out to deny reports that Slate is on her way out. "She will not be fired," said NBC spokeswoman Sharon Pannozzo.
Incidentally, Charles Rocket was fired in 1981 for similar wordage.
I don't know, maybe it is because I have become numb to language on television, but I honestly didn't notice the "flub". 'Course, I also lost interest in the episode cause I didn't think it was funny. Shocker, I know. Hopefully it will get better.
I think it was calculated risk to make a name for herself as a newbie and to give a show some exposure on the news and entertainment shows. Lets face it, this is not an election year and this season is bound to be a let down as past seasons on non-election years.
I know this program is live but isn't there still a 2 second delay so when this happens, it can be bleeped? If so, then I don't understand all the fuss. Did it actually go out on the air? If so, then the person who bleeps should be in hot water too.
First, that was Nasim Pedrad... and the Charles Rocket f-bomb was in 1981, when ears were tenderer. Second, every second word in the script for that sketch was "frickin'" so nobody should be surprised if an f-bomb slipped out.
Exactly!!! 1981 vs 2009 - Get REAL people!!! And FURTHER - how stupid does the writer really think we are that we don't know that SNL producers could have bleeped the bleeping f-word out if they had wanted to?
If she doesn't get fired I'll be Charlie Rocket will be pissed! Seriously though, Rocket did it on purpose (pre-meditated all the way) and it appears this unfortunate young woman just slipped up. Still, Lorne Michaels can be an unforgiving god so we'll just have to see how she fares.
Absolutely! I watched Mr. Rocket drop the F-bomb (live, no less), and it was obvious that he was testing the waters and doing it deliberately. Guess he found out the temperature of the water...
Rocket wasn't really fired for the incident. That was the total-meltdown second cast, Jean Doumanian-produced season that failed miserably, and the plug was pulled on the entire show shortly after Rocket's f-bomb. The following season only Joe Piscopo and Eddie Murphy from that cast returned.
What a silly mommy! Katie Holmes takes Suri into the water in her clothes as the two spend the afternoon at the beach in Miami. More of Today's Hottest Photos

I saw the intro, and then I saw Megan Fox's face, and then I changed the channel. Nuff said.
This has happened to anyone that has ever sworn! You could tell she didn't mean to do it. :)~
I felt bad for everyone involved in this not so funny skit. Sorrow for those that had to act in it, and especially, for those that were watching it.
Guys ...it's SNL, no one was watching it anyway!!

I would not blame Jenny, with all the frickin, frickins in the script,I blame the writers!

nope, that WAS jenny slate. and let's hope lorne doesn't drop her. she seems pretty funny
Stop raising hell about the guy on Fox saying "keep plucking that chicken" and we'll forget about this "flub".
SNL hasn't been funny in years. Fire the whole crowd! Drop the entire show...no one will ever compare to the original bunch. Lord, they were funny.

The best SNL stuff came out between 1988-1993. Funnier than the originals too, thats right I said it!
For the love of Christ, it's just a word. Get. Over. It. Oooops, I just took the Lord's name in vain. You can get over that too.

FYI...Charles Rocket died a while ago. (And: Shouldn't they employ a 7 second delay as the FCC fines are atrocious?)
charles rocket commited suicide a few years ago.
Charles Rocket is dead.Suicide.
