'Beautiful Life' Star Shocked by Axed Show

The CW network's 'The Beautiful Life' has become the first television series from the new fall crop to be canceled, after just two episodes of the drama aired. Actress Sara Paxton has responded to the bad news in an interview with Latina, calling the early axe "unfair." She says, "The CW didn't give our show a chance to succeed or fail. We had some amazing episodes coming up that we were all proud of... we're sad that no one will ever even see those."

The actress says that the news came as a total shock - and she's not pleased with how the 'Beautiful Life' cast was notified of their sudden unemployment. "I was sitting in the hair and makeup chair, and I'm getting my hair done just like a normal Friday-we were all excited for Friday," Paxton says. "And all of a sudden, they got the call, and the producers had to make an announcement on set that we were done-that we were over! And I was sitting there in shock. I couldn't believe that in the middle of work, the rug was pulled out beneath our feet."

The news that the CW won't air the final five episodes - episodes that were already filmed and complete - is "a slap in the face." Paxton says, "It's almost like we were part of this family and now suddenly we're dropped. I couldn't even call the CW because they probably have my number on their caller ID and they're like, 'no don't pick up, don't pick up.' It's crazy."

She adds, "It's hard because I don't want to sound ungrateful for everything they have done for us, but I think especially since this happened Friday-it's really hard for me not to be angry. I really don't want to upset [CW President] Dawn Ostroff, because she is a really cool lady. I just don't understand how they could do this."

The show made the news in July when production was halted to accommodate its star Mischa Barton, who was hospitalized for an undisclosed medical problem. Many surmised that Barton had suffered a breakdown. The free publicity was no help to 'The Beautiful Life,' which pulled in a mere 1.5 million viewers with its premiere episode. The ratings for the second episode were even lower.

In its place on Wednesday nights, the CW will repeat episodes of its promising new 'Melrose Place' revival, one day after their original airing. Paxton finds it hard not to take the decision personally, admitting, "We all signed 6 month leases, and now we all have to figure out how to get out of our leases, and I have to figure out how to get all my furniture back. I don't know what to do with this NY furniture. We're kind of stranded."

Problem with the show was it tried to place pretty women in heels and skirts who have brains. TV viewers likes their models tall, beautiful and brainless.

I have to say that I saw the first episode of TBL and found it interesting. You have to give any show a chance to develope a following. To have completed 5 or 6 episodes and not air them seems a waste of the money already invested in the show. However, if advertisers were not buying time during that time slot on the CW network than that must be the reason for its cancelation.
I was interested in watching it.

See what happens when Misha Barton is cast in another show? Her acting abilities died at the same time she crashed on "The O.C." It wasn't a bad show, all in all, but I think if the CW choose another female lead, it would have exceeded past 2 shows.

I like Sara Paxton she is very pretty and beautiful. I watched the plot it was alright not a show I would watch every week. I understand why she is very ticed off the show got cancelled but that's showbiz.

Glad that The CW is giving Melrose Place a chance thats a pretty good show I look forward to it every Tue after 90210.
