In all seriousness, this is not art, this is child pornography. It's a young girl that hasn't even reached puberty, wearing make-up, covered in oil, naked, in a some-what mature position, and a serious look on her face that reads the unspoken at that age. This is something you'll see a much more matured WOMAN do on "videos" just before a scene. I'm but seventeen years old and I just shake my head in disbelief at this. A warning sign isn't enough, it should be taken down completely. If Brooke would like to display it, she can do so proudly in her own home.

Her mother is a disgrace. I remember when the movie was out - then Blue Lagoon, which was a bit racey for young children as well. I had never heard of this photograph. I believe as a young girl that she was explointed.

Brook needs to revisit this problem and get control of the situation, as she was exploited by her Mother and others she is being exploited today. She has children of her own now, for that reason alone, never mind the fact she was a minor and had no control over what was done to her back then. Poor Brook Shields needs to pick up where she left off in the 80's and get control of those pictures and stop the current exploitation of her body as a young child. This is another example of how distorted morals have become. Not only must we worry that an employee processing our film may deem innocent pictures of children bathing as pornographic, but we must also worry about childhood images of us (or other past images of us) being used against our will and in ways that we feel are inappropriate . . . with absolute no recourse or viable means of protecting ourselves against ruthless, greedy, twisted, and/or evil individuals who care nothing for how their actions may affect other people . . . let alone themselves. People who do this kind of thing know they can get away with it. They know that whatever consequences they MAY suffer will be inconsequential compared to the profit they will acquire. And why do they know they can get away with this kind of behavior with little or no consequences? Because not enough of us have raised a loud enough hue and cry to the right people to make a difference. Only when enough people say, "This is enough. This will end here!" will such behavior be checked and deterred.

if the picture is of brook, then she should be allowed to have the picture, and all the negatives of all pictures, given to her. it's the morally right thing to do, the h**l with the law. i am sure had she been able to make these sorts of decisions at the age of ten, she would never have consented. the mother's decision should be "over turned", and brook should be given control of pictures that were of HER. it is not her mother's picture on display- it is brook. and since she had no say then, it's just wrong to do this to her, period. the laws should be changed so that any stupid decisions made by grown ups can be over turned by the child of the idiots who do these things, and the idiots the child's parents do "business" with. and what the h**l was her idiot mother thinking, any way? and all the other "adults"... if some one told me to let my kid pose naked, i'd turn around and walk away. and make up and oil? smacks of pedophilia, to me. what a crazy world.... completely insane.

Brooke Shields did a movie when she was very, very young where she was sold very naked on a platter as a "virgin" to old men, then she went on to do Blue Lagoon. In my humble opinion, her mother accepted and allowed her in these types of roles. Her role in Pretty Baby was defenitly inappropriate no matter what era.Every parent I know takes nekkid baby pics on a bear rug, or in the tub, the are keepsakes of our childs progression through life. It is not porn. Recent;y a child was taken away from a parent cause of a pic of her wrapped in a towel just out of the bath. There was nothing showing, nothing wrong. But now these parents lives are destroyed as is the childs over something innocent. Yes, lets protect the children but properly.

I looked up the image in question on Google and didn't find it particularly interesting and the title "Spiritual America" along with the imagery didn't reach me. I didn't get the message. I guess you ought not take naked pictures of yourself and have them available to anyone other than yourself? It seems that this story has exposed a side of women that we all knew existed, but never really admitted openly, which is, that women will do anything for money. And that they aren't nearly the good and or sweet little angels the media tries to convince us all they are. The first time I was rehabbing a structure as a AC tech in a junior high school bathroom I was astonished at the crap that the young females wrote on the walls in their restrooms. It would have embarrased a salty sailor to read most of it. It opened my young eyes when I saw it.Never would have believed it prior to that. Since, I have seen that its just far different than the image they want men to believe. All you have to do is tune into Maury Povich's show and watch all the shows concedrning the young girls with kids who can't remember which guy it was that they were sleeping around with that knocked them up. Half the shows they get it wrong, and on some occasions they never do get it right.

If a man was found by police to have a photo of a nude child and sharing that photo with others today he would be charged with having child pornography and put in jail where he belongs. Were the laws different back then and this was not considered a crime? With or without the mother's permission it is child pornography and should be dealt with accordingly today if he is still passing that picture around. He is sick!
