DJ AM's Cause of Death Determined

The New York City Medical Examiner has determined the cause of death for Adam Goldstein, known to most by his stage name DJ AM, is "acute intoxication," TMZ reports. The examiner revealed his death was due to the combined effects of cocaine, oxycodone, hydrocodone (Vicodin), Ativan, Klonopin, Xanax, Benadryl and Levamisole (a drug used to cut cocaine with).

On August 28, he was found dead in his apartment New York City. According to TMZ, which first reported the story, drug paraphernalia including a glass crack pipe was found at the scene and Goldstein hadn't been seen or heard from in several days.

A friend checking on Goldstein eventually called police, and they broke down the door and found his body lying in his bed.

Goldstein was a highly regarded and sought-after DJ beloved by Hollywood partygoers and music aficionados alike. He was known for his eclectic taste in music and blending all genres into his routines. He also dated celebrities Nicole Richie and Mandy Moore.

DJ AM barely escaped death in a 2008 plane crash involving him and fellow musician Travis Barker. Their plane crashed after aborting takeoff, killing four other people.

Goldstein earned a reputation as one of the country's most talented DJs, blending every genre of music into his routines. He was a frequent club headliner.

Goldstein paired up with rock drummer Travis Barker to form TRVS-DJAM, where the two played off of each other's improvisations. In September 2008, their plane crashed after a South Carolina show, nearly killing them both.

In the crash that killed four other people, Goldstein and AM narrowly escaped, but suffered bad burns across their bodies. "My eyebrows and layers of skin were burned off my face ... My forehead was gouged and my arm had skin hanging off. I was in shock and didn't feel anything," Goldstein told PEOPLE.

A month later, DJ AM triumphantly returned to the stage, playing the role of DJ for rap superstar Jay-Z.

Goldstein was also an avid sneaker collector, which eventually earned him a cameo on HBO's 'Entourage.'

just another crackhead. dont sugarcoat it or call it an accident. he wasnt tryin to kill himself. he was a dope fiend and he consumed whatever he could get his hands on. tomorrow he would take the same thing. he is a crackhead. i dont care how talented or gifted you deem someone. he was a lowlife crackhead. and this is the fate of crackheads. anyone who says he took all this stuff to die must live in a bubble. he took that stuff because that was his fix. the more you get high, the more you are able to consume. he got high one time too many and his body shut down. if he would have work up he would chase that same high the next day. he is a crackhead. a lowlife crackhead. only difference is, he could afford it and didnt have to live in the streets.

yeah this was no accidental od...that many drugs and the fact there was his ex's valentine card on his desk...he was bummed and decided to kick his own bucket...too bad and so sad...i wonder why he didnt confide in any of his so called friends....i hear it can be lonely at the top

ya know my friend died in a complete accident and the world is going to mourn over this man who was obviously asking for death by doing an abundance of drugs? yes it's sad that such a young person should die but is it that sad that someone that does a ridiculous amount of drugs dies and someone who was just in the wrong place at the wrong time should die? life isn't fair. the only reason people are mourning is because this guy can screech a few records and date celebreties is disgusting. miss him for the man he was and the man that could have been, RIP DJAM you will be missed and hopefully for the right reason.

Maybe being in that plane crash gave him problems, perhaps he was in pain, mentally & physically. I'm almost ashamed to read peoples comments on these AOL sites. The point is you don't know anything about the man or his life aside from him being a DJ. I'm sure anyone who did know him on a different level wouldn't be so quick to judge. If anything, they're prolly left wondering if there's anything they could've done differently to help him. You people are the reason I have more respect for the dead than the living; live people suck!!

People really have no concept of a human life these days reguardless of how he passed it is still a loss. Everyone has a few skeletons in their closets maybe not as bad as his but NOBODY is perfect. No wonder why murder rates are high. People have no care for others human life!!! Makes me sick!
