According to Radar, Schwimmer must undergo three weeks of physical therapy to heal the injury after she "severely strained" her hip flexors. She dances with 'Iron Chef America' chairman Mark Dacascos.
The dancer will receive stem shock therapy for her treatment, but plans to continue with the show.
"I'm doing OK, in a lot of pain, but hey that's a dancer's life," Schwimmer tells Radar.
"Thanks for all your positive thoughts," she adds.
Hope Lacey has a speedy recovery! She adds so much to DWTS, makes it much more interesting and fun to watch! So You Think You Can Dance hasn't been the same since Lacey, Benji and Heidi left the show! (My daughter competed against Benji back in the day at the U.S. Open!) Love you Lacey!!
OH....ELECTRICAL STIM....IF THATS WHAT SHES HAVING DONE ITS GOING TO TAKE A LONG TIME FOR HER TO HEAL....I'VE HAD THAT DONE MANY TIMES ALONG WITH ULTRASOUND WHICH GOS DEEPER INTO THE MUSCLE TISSUE. I HAD SOME RELIEF BUT NOTHING IMMEDIATE OR GREAT...JUST SOME RELIEF...AND I WASN'T DANCING WHILE HAVING THE THERAPY!! THANKS FOR THE INFO.
GOOD TO KNOW SOMEONE OUT THERE KNOWS THE CORRECT TERMINOLOGY ABOUT ELECTRICAL MUSCLE STIMULATION. GOOD FOR YOU MY FRIEND. GLAD YOU SET THESE IGNORANT PEOPLE STRAIGHT.
sorry to hear about the injury but I'm not surprised, the 'dancing' has turned into more gymnastics than dancing .. oh I nearly forgot! a gymnast won it last year! wow, what a surprise! how about more dancing and less 'theatrics'?
Sorry, Peggy, it's not the "theatrics" that are the problem, all performing, including dance IS theatrics. It's all the darned "gymnastics". NONE of that is necessary for really super dancing/performing!
Yes, a gymnist did win it last year -- when a far better, classy dancer (male) should have won it! Look for a gymnist to repeat this year, regardless of who is the best dancer. Can't let those gold-medal winners be losers.
There's no gymnast in this year's competition---she's a swimmer, and she's pretty darn good. Better than a lot of the dancers.
I broke my knee and I'm going through the electrical stimulation therapy and it's no big deal. They attach these patches to the affected area and it feels like they're rubbing sandpaper on the area. It doesn't hurt one bit and it stimulates healing.
What exactly is stem shock therapy? I've never heard of that type of physical therapy? I hope she recovers because I think they are one of the top dancing couples on the show.
It's electrical stimulation therapy. Little pads are placed on the appropriate muscles and a small electrical current passes through each pad causing the muscles to contract and relax. It sounds awful, but it actually feels really good to the injured muscle. At least for me it does.
I hurt my left hip while dancing about a month and a half ago. I have had a physical therapist treat me with Ultrasound and Electrical Stimulation. To that I have added homeopathic remedies for pain and topical cream also for pain. I still have the pain and restriction of movement. I am considering Acupuncture now.
Hope you can continue Lacey, your one of the best Dancers. The comment to yessy, yes, the male dancer was GOOD and Cute but, the gymnast was also better and she was voted the winner. there is a BIG DIFFERENTS IN BALLROOM DANCING AND GYMNASTICS. SHE JUST DIDN'T HAVE THE LONG LEG LOOK.
She never said a truer word; sprains and aches are a dancer's lot no matter how good they are. There again, this programme has become a cross between a strip club and an Olympic contest. Some of the moves do not look like dancing and it is not surprising these professionals get hurt. This season is down in everything; the program begins to bore!
Oh for kripes sake ... It's STIM therapy and very common. They put little electrodes on you and it feels like a little buzzing sensation. I guess AOL had the local 7th grade journalism class writing it's articles again, or they thought "STEM" would pull in a little controversy and we all know, controversy is the best PR you can get.

Sorry about your injury Don't know if you remember dancing with me at a San Diego convention about 10 years ago. You were about12 years old.

Who are these people that write these articles? It's electrical stimulation therapy or e stim. It's not stem shock; they're not shocking her brain.

Exactly, what is stem shock? E-stim is the therapy. Whatever happened to research before publishing?

good comment -- except that it's "its" articles ... it's is a contraction for "it is."
Thanks.
