Ok, that confirms it, I want to be an actor. Where do I sign up so I can do anything I want with no consequences? I think we should all boycott anything to do with TV and movies. They get all of our money and live in the fanciest houses, can afford more things than we ever dream of, waste money, and still get away with (practically) murder. They should fire the judge! I wonder how the victims family feels about this slap in the face?

Maybe these prosecutors need to do their job on getting a stiffer sentence and maybe some of those judges need to be replaced from the bench. Those judges need to start handing down sentences like us little nobody's get handed down. These celebs that think they are above us forget where their money came from (us little nobody's)and stick their money up their butts. You celebs are no better than us. You should get the same sentence as us.

It's disgusting when a story is presented about someone who should be in prison for 50 years and the name of the person he killed is not even mentioned. But the fact that he was driving a Mercedes was written twice. Whoever wrote this story and put it together can go f himself/herself.
The sh*t is going to hit the fan and when it does, may God have mercy.

There is something drastically wrong with a judicial system when someone can drive 100mph, be drunk, and kill someone as a result and ONLY get 1 yr. in jail and probation! This is happening in every state, not just Ca. No wonder the laws are doing nothing to curtail killing people with automobiles...laws are a joke.

Why is Soho's the only comment about the fact that the name of this murdered person was not mentioned. and it is murder, you get into a car and you you've been drinking, you know there is the chance you will kill someone, should be voluntary murder charges.

December 7th is the trial for drunk driver who killed my daughter Nicole on July 7 2008 while she was fishing on another boat. I can assure you if McGuire gets only ONE year jail time, he better plan on moving when he gets out!!! Thats unexceptable! Our lives will never be the same.
I was stunned to read this man got ONE year jail time for taking a life! I had to read it again to make sure I read it right. I'm so sorry for the deceased family.

First of all, to the dude or gal who said there are 100 million people in Cali; that is just wrong. There are 36 million which is less than 10% of the population. I don't know where you got 100 million a simple google search would have told you otherwise.
Second, Murder does not have to have "malice" to be murder. Felony Muder and Depraved heart murder are both theories of second degree murder (all murders are second degree unless they match the elements of first) that don't need malice. Just thought I would clear that up. And yes, there are plenty of people who get life sentences to for a DUI manslaughter. It is silly to think that money did not play a part in this.

and with time off for good behavior?? he will more than likely serve less than three months.hollywood justice SUCKS !!!!!

Dear god, where is the justic? THese people can kill people at their will and get away with it, Yet Micheal vick killed dogs and got 2 yrs, this man killed a human being and get 1 yr, the dogs have a better life than a human,if i could change i would be a dog, at least if someone killed me i know they would be punished, human life mean.s nothing these day,s,

brilliant. how are you doing it? if I could change I would be a dog because Michael vick got 2 years for killing dogs and this writer guy got 1 for killing a person. absurd. keep up the creative garbage.
Apparently, the victim's name wasn't important.
Great work...

I cannot speak for the rest of the country but, DWI laws are far too lenient in NY state. Most judges, DAs, police officers, AND juries do not take DWI cases seriously unless it involves death or serious injury. Most DWI cases that do not involve death or serious injury are plead down from a misdemeanor (criminal charge) to Driving While Alcohol Impaired (violation, non-criminal charge). The drunk driver pays a $500 fine to the court and his/her insurance premium increases.

Geez, only one year???? That's a slap on the wrist. He will make more movies and people will load his pockets with more money, that's what Hollywood and sports owners do, Honor the bad guys.

I live in Ventura County and this is a horrible injustice. One stinkin' year???!!! Obvious the judges in this county have learned nothing from their past mistakes. We had a case several years back where a Ventura County judge let off on probation a repeat drunk driver. So she proceeded to drive drunk (again) only this time she killed three teenagers who were walking on the side of the road! The judges here in Ventura County have no guts at all!!! They should all be recalled.
