TLC Halts Filming of 'Plus 8' Kids; Jon and Kate Battle Through Statements

Mere hours after Jon Gosselin sent them a cease-and-desist order, TLC has announced they will shut down filming of the kids on the show formerly known as 'Jon & Kate Plus 8.' In a statement, the network said production would remain suspended "pending further conversations" between both Gosselins, who are parents of young twins and sextuplets. Filming not directly involving the kids continues, TLC said Thursday. The network renamed the show 'Kate Plus 8' earlier this week. Now both Jon and Kate have released statements adding fuel to the fire.

"It appears that Jon's priority is Jon and his interests," his estranged wife, Kate Gosselin, said in a statement on Thursday. "My priority remains our children and their well being."

The Insider reported Thursday about Jon Gosselin demands.

"Effective immediately no production crews are to enter Jon Gosselin's family home for any reason. In the event that anyone enters the marital property, Jon Gosselin will notify the local authority to effectuate Police action against any trespassers," a letter from Jon's lawyers to TLC read.

"Jon realized his family was like a train wreck, so he decided to put the brakes on the divorce and on the show ... because if he didn't the family would be in a mortal accident," his lawyer Mark Jay Heller said.

In her subsequent statement, Kate Gosselin said, "I'm saddened and confused by Jon's public media statements. Jon has never expressed any concerns to me about our children being involved in the show and, in fact, is on the record as saying he believes the show benefits our children and was taping on Friday with the kids."

"I check in regularly with each of the kids to be sure they want to participate in and continue with the show and will continue to do so," Kate, 34, continues. "I do the show for my family because I believe it provides us opportunities we wouldn't otherwise have. Jon used to share that belief until as recently as the day the network announced the name change of the show and indicated that Jon would have a lesser role in the show. It appears that Jon's priority is Jon and his interests. My priority remains our children and their well-being."

Jon's lawyers have released a statement addressing the conduct of TLC, according to PEOPLE. The comments read:

"I am totally confident that [Jon] will be completely successful in his quest to take back control of his family and preserve, protect and ensure their future well-being by putting the brakes on his divorce and pulling the plug on TLC, the media giant that he perceives as a monster that has exploited and manipulated his family and has been partially responsible for the breakdown of his marriage."

"Jon is resolved not to allow the TLC Corporate machine to devour his family and promote the monster's best interests over those of his family. TLC and Discovery have been reputed to have generated approximately $186 million dollars for the quarter – compliments of the Gosselin Family, and Jon firmly believes that their greed to continue that cash flow will be trumped by his courage and determination to protect his family."

Actually, Jon was an IT tech and Kate was a registered nurse at a dialysis clinic. Being a parent is much tougher than either of those careers. But seeing how their lifestyle costs a lot more now than it did in the beginning, this could be just another ploy by both parents to spark intrest back into the show. And we are the idiots, myself included that just keep coming back for more. You can boycott the show all you want, but why keep reading the stories?

Jon is the biggest douchebag, now people know why Kate treated him the way she did. He was her ninth child. One day when the kids are grown they will hate him for all his douchebag ways and that will be that. I hope kate now takes him for everything in court. Jon is a sleazebag. he is pissed because he is out of the show. he was willing to exploit his kids when there was money in it for him but now he wants to be Mr. Morality and nix the show to save the kids. Does the little twerp realize that he will have to get a job and support those kids if the show ceases? Can he earn enough money to keep them in the style to which they have become accustomed? NO. He is a lazy butthole who is trying to sabotage his kids careers fro his own selfish reasons. I hope he does have to get a job when the judge orders him to pay lotsa bucks to kate for child support.You suck Jon.

The solution is to film/employ the 'family' on a part time basis: ratings will be higher as ths show can be retitled to reflect "monthly updates and milestones".

Come on people, "Good for John", do you really think he is thinking of anything other than money, he's freaked that he has no means to make a penny. He is totally transparent, no concern till he was booted off the show, he is horrible. If his lawyers succeed in shutting the show down, he will have his kids making his living within the year for another program. Total sleeze ball.

He is so full of crap, his name gets dropped from the show and suddenly it no good for the children, my a**. He just wants to make sure the Kate and the kids dont come out ahead. Typical, he is a selfish person, does not care about anyone's feelings as long as he is happy and could care less about the concenquences of his actions. I hope they slap a huge increase in child support if he is going to stop Kate from supporting her family.

Really now he is concered? Yeah right. I see that he is more concerned about his wallet and lack of income now. How is he going to pay his $5000 rent in New York? Why would a father of 8 move so far away from his kids anyway? I don't doubt he loves his kids but this is not about protecting them, this is about money.

Finally!!! I applaud Jon and admire him for doing this. It's about time someone stands up for the kids. All Kate is doing is exploiting them for her own greed. She's selling her kids for fame and fortune. I hope Jon succeeds in stopping her show and the kids can somehow get some normalcy in their lives. If not the kids are heading for disaster, and it's ALL Kate's fault.

Good for Jon my ass. The only reason he is fighting the show is because his butt won't be one it anymore. He should have been thinking of his kids the whole time instead of having his stupid face splashed all over every rag mag in the country with different women. The only person he cares about is himself. He is a disgusting POS. Maybe he needs to focus some of his energy on getting a real job to support his kids instead of bopping every 20 something girl he runs across.

you must nerver watch the show. Before they had any trouble with their marriage,Jon wanted the show to cancel. He begged kate. She convince him to do more seasons. She made him quit his real job.So he could stay home with the kids and she could travel to sell her books. So petra wacth the old show episodes before you judge Jon. He has always wanted to end the show for the last 3 years. But Kate is a very manipulated person. She treated jon like a dog on the shows. And he ner disrespected her.SO WATCH THE SHOW.

Jon Gosselin is a loser. It's so apparent that the only reason he's doing this is because he just lost his $75,000. n episode paycheck. He has never cared about his kids. He sure was all for the show when he was getting the money. Now, the day after being let go from it, he has his attorney issue a cease and desist order? He's only worried about his own fat self.
I know Jon. He is a druggie who has screwed around on his wife for years. Kate actually uses the money she earns for her kids. Jon uses it to party, buy drugs(Openly admitted on national tv that he uses drugs), and get women.
Now that once again he's an out of work loser, the 5 min. of fame is almost over and soon his "party buddies", the young girls, soon will be gone.
He's upset that he'll have to get a minimum wage job to try and pay for his bachelor pad in New York. He's not qualified for anything because he's always quit, from college to every job he ever had, all because he's lazy.
TLC dropped him from the show because they got tired of him complaining about having to spend time with his kids and that he missed his apartment in New York.
Poor Jon, he's just upset that soon his 4 min. of fame, the money and the young girls will soon be gone. For those who reallly believe that he cares about his kids and not wanting them exploited on tv, remember he recently was trying to get his own reality show, called "Divorced Daddy", but no network was interested. Why was it ok if he had his kids on his show?
Jon is just a drug using, loser who only cares about himself. Just look at him.

I think this whole thing is ridiculous. How typical that now that he is rethinking the divorce and requested that it be help up for another 90 days, now he also wants to stop production of the show. Neither one of them is completely right or wrong in the situation. I think they have forgotten the most important thing in a marriage communication, the lack there of has led them down a path they no longer want to be on.

HOLD ON BACK THE TRUCK UP!. Lets not bash Kate here, Not to long ago Jon was soaking up the pics of him being seen all around with his woman, and planning a clothing line based off his kids.
Jon made NO attempt to lay low, while Kate did.
So now that Jon is done flaunting around he wants to start worring about the kids welfare.

As for Kate running around if you watch the show she clearly states how she has to leave the house for 2 week time frames, becuase Jon then comes for his parenting time.

Jon is repulsive. It was a smart move by TLC to remove him from the show. I hope the courts rule in their favor and totally ban Jon and his mentally ill girlfriend from ever having contact with the children!

i'm glad he's doing it. One of them (J&K) needed to do it. I think's he's only doing it because his name is being dropped but kate would have kept going.

Jon has opened his mouth way to many times. The only thing he is thinking about is himself, and HOW MUCH MONEY HE WILL LOOSE!!!! It never mattered to Jon before about his kids on TV, only now that it will affect him in his wallet!!!! Kate has been on numerous shows and says very little about their relationship, which is how it should be. I applaud Kate and her less is more attitude. Go Kate!!!!

I knew Jon and his lawyer were up to something from the moment he announced that he had halted the divorce proceedings, allegedly to regain control over his family. Can we say "cut off my nose to spite my face" here Jon? How are your kids going to be supported now, Jon? You cannot sabotage Kate without sabotaging yourself and the kids as well. I hope the court sees this for exactly what it is - a ploy by a selfish, useless, worthless, infidel of a husband to hurt his wife who has proven herself to be a better breadwinner. You want control? Get a job! Prove yourself to be a responsible father who provides for his children either through the sweat of his brow or through his brainpower. You can't sit on Kate to hold her down while at the same time hold down a job and look out for the best interests of your children. Admit the TRUTH, Jon. The show did not REALLY become a problem for you until TLC dumped your azz! Now, all of a sudden, it is a train wreck of a show that is harmful to the children. Had TLC not made ITS move, you wouldn't be making THIS move. Stop production of the show. Then what? How will your kids be supported then? There are EIGHT of them Jon! You think that shyster lawyer is going to get you a pile of money from TLC for not compensating the kids for their role in the show! Well guess what! You and Kate and the kids signed up for a package deal! You came as a family. How that per episode compensation was divided up was up to you and Kate. You and Kate accepted that contract. You can't go back now and renegotiate the terms. What ARE your job prospects, Jon? How ARE you going to support your family if you keep Kate from working? She can't support those EIGHT kids YOU sired on a nurse's salary alone! You say you want TRUTH! Deal with REALITY!

Get real people. TLC just fired him and NOW after all this time he is concerned about his kids? Puuleeze! He is more concerned that he can't afford to take his girlfriend on expensive trips. He sees his money tree being taken, and can't stand it. As for who is more to blame - that is silly - both are to blame. Both are also responsible for this show and the "explotation" of their kids. BOTH parents had to sign the original contract.
