Cowboy boots, jean cut-offs and pickup trucks don't exactly scream Hollywood, but they still feel like home to Miley Cyrus. Celebrity status aside, the young superstar -- "that chick that's rockin' kicks" instead of stilettos, as the song's lyrics go -- hasn't lost grips with her roots just yet, and she uses her 'Party in the U.S.A.' video to convey that."I loved making this video," Miley tells PopEater. "I wanted it to have some personal meaning. We recreated the drive-in that my parents hung out in [in] Kentucky when they were younger, and the Trans Am in the video is the same kind of car my mom used to drive." Watch the new clip below to see Miley have her feel-good hometown party.

OMG!!!! Pause the vid @ 3:13......This is BETTER than her life as a six year old sensation, "Hannah Montana" I am very glad to see her moving away from that.....BUT IT STILL SUCKS!!

that definitely is not geared for 11 year olds

im 11.
I agree.
I think the people who keep complaining about 7 and 8 year olds being fans of Miley should realize that she's no longer geared toward that age group. She said herself her concert is aimed at teens her age. So maybe the parents should stop complaining about Miley, set a good example for their kid, and tell their 8 year old girl to look up to mommy instead of someone on tv, OR make her watch Dora the Explorer or be a fan of something age appropriate because it sure as heck ain't Miley anymore! I know I will not want my little neice to become a fan of Miley after this.
I strongly doubt Miley will turn around and become all bubble gum pop again after this just because parents are complaining...I think she's made her point very clear.
It's hard to break out of the Disney mold, and she didn't have a 6 to 8 year gap to do it like Britney, Christina, JC, Justin, etc. I know Miley doesn't turn 17 until next month, but in my opinion she is still way PG13 compared to Britney at 17. (Remember the Rollingstone cover of her laying on the bed with a teletubby in her BRA & UNDIES?!!)
I am a fan of Miley and I do think it's sad that she had to go so far as to booty pop in her video just to get the point accross that she's trying to break out of the kiddie mold. (And yes I am aware that 16 year olds dance this way at homecoming dances all the time because I was a 16 yr old girl once too, but it's still a huge leap from where she started.)
Check how she's dressed. personally, i do believe she is moved on from disney. Playboy, maybe???

LOVED IT! very true to the way southern parties are(at least where im from)and anyone who says shes dressed "innapropriatly" r obviosly not from the south, cutoffs and cowboy boots r the common dress here

Yeah but is having your bra hang out of your shirt common dress? Shorts aren't inappropriate. Showing your bra....... yeah.
totally agree with you Amy, I think she did awesome with the video and the song. love the style of the video and the people within it ;)
the kinds of gatherings i love
Amy: Where are you from? I live in a southern area and NO ONE I know (which is A LOT of people) dress that way.
Uh, I was born and raised in eastern Tennessee and nobody here wears cowboy boots...

I was born and raised in north Florida, and we do. Tennessee only counts as the south when they REALLY want to. In the deep south (Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, and north Florida aka The Bible Belt), we are the REAL country and proud of it :)
we wear cowboy boots & cowboy hats. im from south mississippi and my husband is from north mississippi (who also went to memphis alot when he was a little to stay at his grandpas house, and he also had boots and hats). we now live in nc. and when we go home that is what we wear. i think she did great with the video. and if she is moving on from disney that is ok. you and i moved on from disney at one point in our lives too. so why not her. she getting older and is growing up so my hats off to her. she is signing as miley.

Wow. That is for sure not a video that should be made by a sixteen year old who claims to be some sort of wholesome disney channel princess.

Even if she does "claim to be some sort of wholesome disney channel princess" the video was good for the song. I don't mind my 11yr old daughter watching the video, it's not like she's taking off clothing or anything. I feel you have to have control of your children to trust them watching a video like this. Heck I have seen 9yr olds dancing worse than Miley did in this video. Everyone also has to remember she is going to be 17 next month and won't be a child forever. I say "You go Miley, keep up the awesome video's" she's not hurting anyone!!!! JB I'm with you on this one!!!!!!
I live in middle Tennessee and people don't wear cowboy boots or overalls... They dress just like normal people. Also isn't she suppose to be a Disney star, what she's wearing is inappropriate if she's been geared toward 7 and 8 year old kids. But the song is kinda of catchy.
Just my thoughts

If you watch Hannah Montana or know anything about the show... it is not geared toward 7-8 year olds. It is "wholesome" enough for a 7-8 year old to watch, but it is a teen show. Yes, Miley is a Disney star, but she is also a teenager fixin to turn 17. She is trying to break out of the mold. And honestly, I think this great video is a small step toward showing everyone she is not a "child" anymore. Let's just hope that adult stardom doesn't come with the price for her that it did for Britney!
