Padma Lakshmi Pregnant With 'Miracle' Baby

Insert "bun in the oven" pun here, because 'Top Chef' host and model Padma Lakshmi is expecting a child, and according to her reps, it's a "miracle," Us Weekly is reporting. The 39-year-old Lakshmi had confirmed she's pregnant with her first child, having struggled for years with the medical condition endometriosis, which can lead to infertility.

"This pregnancy has been referred to by her physician as nothing short of a medical miracle, and due to its delicate nature, we ask/implore the press to respect Ms. Lakshmi's privacy at this time," Lakshmi's rep said.

The father of the expected child has not been revealed, and the only reference to a potential father was Lakshmi's rep's denial that it was a man named Manu Nathan. Online reports have linked Nathan to Lakshmi, but the rep says he is Padma's cousin.

Endometriosis is the condition in which the uterus' lining expands and grows into other areas of the body.

I'm not familiar with this celebrity but if she wants the press 'to respect her privacy' then why did she announce her pregnancy? That makes no sense at all. She should have kept it to herself as long as possible, dressing creatively so as not to show.

Padma if you want privacy WHY DID YOU ANNOUNCE that you're pregnant? You are not showing, so you are still early in the pregnancy. Everyone knows that the 1st 3months are critical, so @ least u shoulda waited until you had reached the 3mo mark.

U make a press release then ask for privacy?
That does not make sense.

You WANT press like everyone else ! I bet you will do a photo spread for pregnancy, cookie, perhaps even people as well.

Contradictory statements like this annoy me.

WOW! Bitter much? Isn't it possible that a news organization contacted her publicist asking for a comment regarding her supposed pregnancy so she decided to "scoop" the press and make any organization that tries to stalk her looks insensitive? Also, if they have already had to respond to questions about paternity then it is possible that while this is the first you've heard of it, it has been leaked elsewhere? Now do us all a favor and climb down off of your high horse and and realize that just because YOU didn't know doesn't mean it wasn't known.

You are right on about the press release and all, but I tell you, Padma's commercial for Hardee's made millions of guys wish they were the father.

Padma looked decidedly pregnant at the Emmy's. In fact, there were critical comments made about how her dress was too ill-fitting and tight around the waist. In the entertainment business (and it is a business), a "fat" comment can be the kiss of death for a woman. So, instead of having people hound you, better to announce it and move on.

People need to stop with the inappropriate comments. I think that it is amazing that she is able to have a baby with her medical condition. Whoever said that it is shameful that she is modeling and acting needs to get their head out of their ass. There is nothing wrong with any woman using her beauty to make a living. At least she isn't out in the streets doing something more shameful like selling herself or drugs. As to the fact that she and her doctor are askoing that people give her some space, that is only natural in a high risk pregnancy. The press was going to find out sooner or later, and at least this way she can't be accused of trying to hide it. This way, the press know ahead of time and should be respectful and give her space to insure the health and safety of both Padma and her baby.

Endometriosis is a common cause for infertility in young women. It;s genetic but there is another reason why so many women of childbearing age can't conceive naturally - it's because they are not told by their GYN's to periodically (pardon the pun) take a break from the pill. Women should take a break from the birth control pill after 2 years or earlier. I know more than one woman who took their birth control pills for more than five years consecutively who don't get their periods anymore and some have had to do invitro fertilization in order to have children. If you take the pill go off it after 2 years for a year or so and make sure you use another form of birth control during that time.

ann.................i took the pill from 22 to 40.... no problems.... menopause was a simple stopping,,,no hot flashes no nothing....so i dont get the break every two year thing.

Good for Padma! Congratulations! Now she can "stay home" and raise her child. Endometriosis is nothing to joke about. Rest for her and the baby is best. Models do not eat enough, trying to stay skinny. Now, she can finally eat. She will have to for the baby's sake at least! Top Chef will do just fine without her. Her latest treasure will be her child. The media has the information now, so no need to ask anymore, about anything. Enough!
Now! Can we worry about more important things! Health care, the economy, global warming, where
the money from all the scams went? Okay!

I wish her the best of luck and happiness during her pregnancy.
It is hard being pregnant, but even harder these days because of the increase of an incredulous, prying media, always stalking celebrities.
I hope she will not get too stressed and overwhelmed.
Every expectant mother deserves rest, peace, privacy when they need it and overall, joy.
My prayers of positivity, hope and good health go out to her and her unborn baby.
Hopefully the media will continue focusing on idiotic topics like, who Jennifer Aniston is dating, or Brad Pitt leaving Angelina Jolie for the 378th time.
